"He went from zero to full speed in two steps," said Urlacher after rewatching the play. "It was amazing how fast he was running at the line; he hit the holes and it felt like he was running full speed every time.

The quarterback in that camp, Jimmy Terwilliger, had a tough time on the outside zone handoffs. "I remember how hard he had to run away from center to reach the ball out to stretch it to Adrian," said Brad Childress, the Vikings coach at the time and now a senior offensive assistant with Chicago. "You couldn't deny what kind of speed he had to the edge and watching him cut up was like: Holy cow!"

"He was all-of-a-sudden, and once past that initial wave, be careful," former Bears All-Pro linebacker Brian Urlacher said. "That was his whole career. He was so all-of-a-sudden. ...

Was fortunate to be at the game yesterday. Dominating performance overall.
Cook is the REAL DEAL. So explosive, so shifty and real speed.
The Raiders went after Wilson and he more than handled himself. Got fooled once bad, but overall was very active and disruptive.
Fun to see Carlson miss and the Defense control Jacobs.
Smith looks to be a big addition.
Fun to dominate offensive genius Gruden.
Loved seeing the 1969 NFC Champions honored.
Got to meet "Hardware Hank" Henry Thomas.
On to the Bears.

The biggest thing with Cook is you don't have to hold your blocks (like they did with AP)....he gets to and thru the hole so fast.

Cook has great vision too like Robert Smith did. I always felt like Peterson was way overrated in that regard.

You guys on crack?

Peterson EXPLODED through holes.

WOW!

I meant the last few, most expensive years of AP. He didn't need a line early in his career.

My bad, I didn't realize you were comparing a young Cook to an old Peterson.

https://www.foxsports.com/nfl/story/minnesota-vikings-adrian-peterson-top-speed-explains-all-day-nickname-111815

203 yards for the day.

4th quarter: 21.17 mph.

Quick AND fast. Or, as Richard would say, "overrated".

WOW!

I think he exploded through holes but he missed a lot of holes that were there due to mostly being such an impatient runner.

So talking about his overrated vision means I think he didn't run fast through holes. Got it!

Talk about a reach! I think everyone knows how fast Peterson was in his prime.

I still remember the offensive line. [:)][:)][:)][:-][:)]

No worries. Man I hope these guys can play well in Chicago this week. Seems like a house of horrors.

We have no reason to not be ready considering we got knocked out of the playoffs by them last year. Lets do it!

I had visions of routine 80 yard runs with only Moss in the picture.

Awesome!

That was a crazy leap!!

Do you remember Joe Kapp doing that? That was the team from 50 years ago. Maybe this team will be Super.

Watching Case (with the skins) play the bears.

One throw just a beautiful anticipation throw down the seam.
Next throw just a terrible decision into double coverage.

Takes so much to be an elite QB... any area that's lacking ends up killing you.

{edit} Trubisquit stinks... bears picked the wrong dude.

{edit edit} AP a shell of his former self.

If all you are looking for is a nice euphoric feeling from a win then what do you need a discussion forum for?

I'm the anti-Brad. I hate coming around after a loss. I really can't take all the whining. So I admit I enjoy the euphoric victory feeling and can't take the sky is falling post loss commentary.

Dana Turner -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/23/2019 7:56:15 PM)

I've had a chance to watch the game a few times now, the offensive line is making solid progress and the TE's are really doing a good job in the run game. I know people here seem to be down on Rudolph, but he really is blocking the best I have seen since he's been here. Smith is also a willing blocker and really gets after it when he's in position. There is room for improvement, in all areas of the offense, but this was a game the offense needed to have to get last weeks bad taste out of their mouths.

The team started out strong and stayed that way until the game had been decided. I have never been to a game in the new stadium, but it must be awesome in there. We go to Chicago now, never a good thing, but the one thing to take note of, the last two times we won there, was 2015 and 2017, so maybe we are doing the odd year thing and 2019 will be another win!!! This team does seem to have better records in odd years, not sure why that is, we shall see! Skol Vikings

Smith and Moss just unbelievably fast. We were so spoiled to have them. Cook is way faster on the football field than his 40 yard sprint time. Peterson very fast too and can flat out truck the defender. We've had some great ones.

I am not so sure (if you are talking 10 yard dashes versus 40). Cook is really fast that first 5-10 yards. Smith needed blocking also and if I remember correctly he liked the I formation also.

It was tongue in cheek or as bigo likes to say, I was being swarmy. I posted a few weeks back that Cook reminded me "a bit" of Smith with how fast he hit and was through the hole.

It got turned into something it was not.

Cook though is lot more elusive.

Don't you mean "swarthy"?

I think Cook is definitely faster to and through the holes than Smith. Also I'm pretty sure we are no longer surprised to see end of the week "top speed attained" results attributed to one or more of Cooks runs, more than just the first 5 to 10 yards.

Loving Cook, but for speed to or through or to the house not in Robert Smith's class. With Smith if you blinked you would never find him again.

Yea, it's tough to judge now in the NFL, hell, sports in general. What is the value of team chemistry, years in the community, as well as seasoned veteran on the field. What does he bring to the TE room as far as teaching the young guys. David Morgan is not playing, both the other guys are young, I'm sure his presence in the meeting room and on the field are paying dividends in both Conklin and Smith's growth. What the value is, I just don't know. Cousins seems to be developing a strong relationship with him, and we know that everything we can do to make Cousins feel better, the better off the team is. I sure did love watching the Waller kid playing for Oakland, man he is going to be a stud in this league if he stays healthy.

Cousins and Ruddy were way off in the end zone in the GB game. And only connected for 4 TDs last year (with 1 being a hail mary). The one area that Kyle should bring value, the red zone, he isn't.

It's great he gives back to the community, I don't think that enters into contract negotiations, or Tebow would still be playing QB for the Broncos.

Development & Chemistry? I hope the coaches are able to do the former. Best thing for Chemistry? Winning.

I don't think he's worth losing a guy like Mac and/or Harris over.

I do appreciate your input/insight!
