Is that the same service that had Colt Brennan in the top 10.?

Don T in CO -> RE: NFL Draft 2020 (4/25/2020 12:28:38 PM)

PFF
99. EDGE JAMES LYNCH, BAYLOR
Lynch is firmly a tweener. He's undersized for the interior, but lacks ideal length/burst for the edge. He doesn't have high-ceiling physical tools, but he's powerful enough to add plus run defense and pass-rushing ability at the next level.

Chris Tomasson
@christomasson
James Lynch is a three-technique defensive tackle. #Vikings coach Mike Zimmer has been looking for improved pass rushing at that spot.

Chris Tomasson
@christomasson
Draft analyst Dane Brugler on new #Vikings DT James Lynch: "Lynch doesn’t have ideal length, which might limit his ideal scheme fit, but he competes with balance and power to hold up inside with the dependable football character that will endear himself to coaches.''

PFF Draft
@PFF_College
Vikings land college football's leader in total QB pressures.
Baylor ED James Lynch - 70

Just was reading about Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year DL James Lynch of Baylor. Man, he dominated in 2019. Met with #Vikings formally in Indy, has FaceTimed with them too.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: NFL Draft 2020 (4/25/2020 12:28:38 PM)

Traded out of 132?

Edit, nope ILB.

Dave Odle -> RE: NFL Draft 2020 (4/25/2020 12:28:45 PM)

Troy Dye, ILB from Oregon. Any thoughts on him, Brad?

Dye - Quick physical, doesnt shed blocks well, but long arms, side to side fast

I don't remember Dye really standing out, but he has to be better in coverage than Gedeon is.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: NFL Draft 2020 (4/25/2020 12:32:43 PM)

Dye - pass D guy.

I love the bolded parts.

The Happy Norseman -> RE: NFL Draft 2020 (4/25/2020 12:34:24 PM)

“Overview
It's easy to fall in love with the tackle production, football IQ and sideline-to-sideline range but his slight frame and difficulty keeping weight on could become a major stumbling block for him in the way teams view his pro potential. His skill set and recognition are best suited along the inside, but due to his size, he might need to ply his trade as an outside 'backer in a 4-3 defense. He has three-down talent with the aptitude to cover or blitz and is in line to go from plus-backup to eventual starter if he can keep good weight on his frame.”

If the only knock on Dye is that he needs to work to keep weight on then he’s a real solid pick.

Difference between the 81st and 89th is 40 points. The 117th is 60 points. That fourth would have taken us to the 77th pick.

A 7th would have taken us from 105 to 101. Dantzler would have had to fall 12 spots.

I agree with this. We should have moved up in the 3rd and Spielman said he tried but couldn't make a deal. "Teams were not trading early in the 3rd round and couldn't find a partner." A lot of good DTs went in front of us in this round. I think we got sniped there. Then stayed where we were. Took Dantzler there just to make sure we didn't lose him. On the board I had... Dantzler was ranked 132 overall.

I think they wanted Justin Madubuike.

Goal for day 3? Intelligence and the physical ability to develop.

Pager has pick 117 being worth 60 points. I saw that pick 105 was worth 31 points and the picks we got combined were worth 30. Very different charts.

Your source said it would take the 89, 105 and 117 to move up 8 spots. I'd love to see your source.

yeah, lack of OL is concerning...

are we really rating the current batch of OL this low?

and these guys that high?

Oops! I double dipped there.

kgdabom -> RE: NFL Draft 2020 (4/25/2020 12:36:33 PM)

Lot of players going to be gone before we pick again. Fromm, Weaver, T Johnson, Alohi Gilman and Badass are my focus now.

excellent in coverage

Don T in CO -> RE: NFL Draft 2020 (4/25/2020 12:37:19 PM)

Chris Tomasson
@christomasson
Draft analyst Dane Brugler on #Vikings LB Troy Dye "Dye looks like a modern-day linebacker with his length and athleticism, but he plays more like a safety with questions about his functional strength and scheme fit in the NFL projecting as an immediate backup and special teamer"

PFF MIN Vikings
@PFF_Vikings
With the 132nd pick in the 2020 #NFLDraft the Minnesota Vikings select Troy Dye! Linebacker from Oregon! 5th ranked LB on the PFF Big Board

Vikings Corner
@VikingsCorner
The #Vikings just made a value pick by selecting Oregon LB Troy Dye at No. 132. He was No. 74 on the big board. Dye finished his college career with 391 tackles (41.5 for loss) and 13 sacks. https://bit.ly/3cNzBza

Darren Wolfson
@DWolfsonKSTP
Troy Dye was a Freshman All-American, led Orgeon in tackles for four straight years. #Vikings connected virtually with him, were sent video of a recent workout. Knee injury kept him from physical drills in Indy. He’s good now.

That and the trade downs are the weirdest things in this draft.
