In his career, Kirk Cousins averages 1.67 TDs per game.

That is more TDs/game than the following QBs:

Tony Romo
Ben Roethlisberger
Joe Montana
Dan Fouts
John Elway
Warren Moon
Steve Young
Donovan McNabb
Drew Bledsoe
Terry Bradshaw
Jim Kelly
Cam Newton
Carson Palmer

(Dustin Baker on Twitter)

I would have guessed that.

Here's a really good article that addresses what we're all thinking about.

Viking Rich -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/22/2020 11:23:02 PM)

The 22nd pick from the Bills is big.

I was reading an article of a mock draft where the writer thinks the Saints may put in a call to the Vikings for a trade:

22. Minnesota
23. New England
24. New Orleans

New England will probably be looking for a QB. If they are still at 23, they will have the advantage over the Saints, who will probably be in the market for a QB as well (Brees can't play forever). The Saints could leap frog New England, trading with the Vikings for the 22nd pick (maybe Jordan Love?)

As compensation, the Vikings move down to 24, and also get an extra 4th round pick.

That would be sweet!

If the Saints are that desperate, make it a 3rd. Not into doing Sean Payton any favors.

Thank you for appreciating. I bet there's more than a couple out there who lurk to read, but don't post. I wish they would chime in. I have talked to a number of Vikings fans to join us in the conversation, but have been unsuccessful. Some say they will, but they don't. Therefore, I have to appreciate all the rubes here who do participate.

2020 NFL free agency's best contracts: Cousins extension smart
By Gregg Rosenthal
Around The NFL Editor

Kirk Cousins, quarterback, Minnesota Vikings: It was only a few years ago that folks were chortling over the Vikings' decision to pay Cousins $30 million per year. By the time he gets to the end of the extension he agreed to as this year's free agency period kicked off, the Vikings could be seen as forward-thinking. I like the new two-year, $66 million deal, which is set to go through the 2022 season, for a few reasons. It opens up $10 million in cap space while only adding one additional guaranteed year for Cousins. (The Vikings could get out of the contract after the 2021 season if they wanted.) It also prevents a scenario like the Redskins once faced with Cousins, who was constantly asked about his future with Washington over three consecutive contract years from 2015 to '17, thanks to that team's repeated use of the franchise tag. Minnesota decisively believes that Cousins is a franchise quarterback, so it's better for the Vikings to make a move now rather than wind up paying much more later, like the Cowboys will with Dak Prescott, who had to be tagged this year after reaching the end of his rookie deal without an extension. By the time Cousins reaches the end of this deal, it won't be a surprise if he's outside the top 10 in quarterback salaries.

Nice to hear a non-"way overpaid Cousins contract' quote.

I think that, first of all, Cousins has been well compensated for his quarterback play the past few years. Secondly, I believe he might have become a bit sensitive to all of the talk about how much money he makes. Thirdly, I think he likes Minnesota and would like to settle down here with his growing family. Fourthly, I believe he really wants to win and understands how a franchise quarterback who accepts a "little bit less: (ie. Tom Brady) could help his team win a Super Bowl.

Of course, we would all love to have such a generous salary. "Little bit less" is relative.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/24/2020 8:31:43 PM)

I wonder how many QBs, or players, really think if they take a few million less that could be the difference to propel them to a Super Bowl victory. Maybe Brady. Always in the hunt anyway, rich wife, replace just one of these street based no-names with a mid-tier guy, etc.

Why didn't I think to marry a supermodel that is worth $400 million dollars? I wonder if there is a dating app for that. Millionairemodels.com or something like that.

Thanks to Bruce for the Dustin Baker twitter tip. This one surprised me (a lot), given that Zimmer is often criticized, at least here in the game day thread, for being too conservative when he has the lead:

https://twitter.com/DustBaker/status/1242854625113448448

Since 2015, Top 5 W/L records when team is leading at the end of the 3rd Quarter:

1. Vikings (45-0)
2. Patriots (57-2)
3. Packers (34-1-1)
4. Texans (29-2)
5. Chiefs (49-6)

The Minnesota Vikings are the only undefeated team under these parameters.
