Ugh, that Saints game was utterly disgusting. We couldn't stop the run or the pass and looked equally inept defending either. The good news is that for whatever reason, the Saints had Taysom score on a wildcat rather than use Kamara again. Kamara should have had 7 TDs. I'd love to have the Vikings own some positive records for a change. The offense had some life but playcalling and execution will eventually stall us out on some series, and we had to score TDs every drive to stay in it. I hope the Wilf's can look past the pandemic to see we're not going anywhere with this staff. I try to stay patient, it's hard to be a coach, and it takes time to build a team and a philosophy. There have been some coaches that I was ready to bail on early (see Chilly) as they really taxed my enthusiasm for watching games. Inevitably, ownership comes to a realization that a change is needed and moves on. I think that time is now. Zim/Spiels have had their time, had some decent years, but the Wilf's have to blow this up after the year is out. We're going nowhere, and between the bad contracts and the lack of talent in the positions needed to succeed in today's game, we're screwed for a few years unless someone can pull a rabbit out of the hat, and that's not going to happen with our current FO. We're likely to have another down year or two, living on young draft picks while bad contracts eventually expire. We might as well put in place a management team that can build it right while our expectations are lower.

So with the stats showing if a HC is going to win a SB with a team it will almost assuredly be in the first 5 years, do you blow the first two years in transition? Might need to considering RS could pull more crap like maxing out the cap, drafting a record number of players, trading a 2nd for a player who plays just FIVE games, etc. If he thinks a couple of high picks or big contracts may get a win or two, he will do it. He could totally mortgage the future for more than a couple of years. He is unchecked, unhinged, and he needs to be fired.

Sorry to be negative, but the extremes are interesting to me- good and bad. The #Vikings have the worst pass rush grade in the league, per #PFF. They've averaged nearly 10 fewer pressures per game this year compared to last. (Warren Ludford on Twitter)

Cousins’ 3 INTs in 9 games since the bye week 1. Through Thielen’s hands to Mack 2. Dalvin doesn’t look for the checkdown, pick 6 by Schobert 3. Hail Mary vs Bears On the other hand, he’s lost 4 fumbles. (Krauser) I'm thinking that the fumbles are at least partially a result of a lack of protection from his line. The other thing is that he has to pass more than preferred because the defense is such a sieve. Opposing defensive linemen must be teeing off on him.

Anybody watch the SNF game last night? Granted the Lameblow home cooking was as severe as ever, that being said I don't think the Packers needed it. They destroyed a really good Titans team. Take a piece of advice from me and mentally prepare yourself for Green Bay being in the Super Bowl this year. How did they manage this you might ask. I know I've been trying to figure it out. We all laughed after their terrible draft. Turns out they didn't need anyone to contribute this year at all. They did pick up a few key defensive players over the last couple of seasons. What was the major thing they changed? They dumped a shitty coach that GASP! had a great win/loss record. Hell this one even won a Super Bowl - granted he fell back-assward into it. Anyway, the only positive I can come away with is to be grateful they didn't move on from McCarthy earlier. They might have four Super Bowl titles in the Rodgers era instead of the one which has a really good chance of becoming two really soon. I hope some day we put it all together. In the meantime it's gonna sting watching the packers hit their peak. Zimmer has no chance of unseating them as NFC North champs anytime in the next three years. Instead he can yell and be a tough guy and try to wrestle second place from the shitty-ass bears. This is such a low point in my Vikings fandom. Ugh.

The problem is the ownership. They'll spend money, but not well. The extensions going into this year were unjustified. They can shitcan Spielman and Zimmer without real consequence, but Cousins' contract is either cut him and take a $30-some million hit this coming year or keep him and have his 2022 salary of $45 million guaranteed in the first few days of the league year. The soft rebuild they tried to do didn't work, and won't going forward without miracles. The actual rebuild is happening around an aging $33-45 million dollar QB who is good, but not elite. Whoops. Fire the Wilfs, please. Sell the team...you blew your shot.

On the second 4th-and-1 last week, Theilen had an easy quick out for a first down because his guy was playing off him. Was that even an option? Given the control freak nature of this staff's philosophy, it seems doubtful; given Cousins' robotic approach to reads, it could be he just doesn't do it.

Daniele Hunter will give us some pass-rush back and he's pretty good against the run as well. Michael Pierce is mostly an unknown. Assuming Pierce ends up being above average (sorry folks who in making excuses for the coaching staff have deemed him a sure fire first ballot HOFer - above average is what we can best hope for) getting the two of them back next season might help us get two more wins. If we miracle into competent guards (we need 2!) that could also help us win about two extra games. 10-6 won't beat the packers for the NFC North. We'll have Barr and Kendricks at linebacker and that's going to have to be enough. We're going to need to have luck with replacing Harris and we're going to have to hope Hughes is decent at CB. Dantzler needs to be promoted to CB1 and Gladney needs to be coached up to at least average. Cleveland, magical competent G, Bradbury, magical competent G, and O'Neil can't have any injuries. Our offensive skill positions will be our greatest strength. Coaching will need to realize that and not start running out the clock in the third quarter when we're already down by six. Our roster dictates that we'll need to engage in shootouts. I won't hold my breath.

Conservative with hit/miss drafting that mostly misses while continually trading out of spots to take better players. If the Wilfs don't fire Spielman and Zimmer after years of inconsistent, low-ceiling performance, this is unlikely to ever change.
