This will be the first time in franchise history the Vikings have opened the season at home against the Packers. They've opened at Lambeau Field six times -- most recently in Aaron Rodgers' debut as the Packers' starter in 2008.

I always think it makes a lot more sense for us to play at Pukers early in the season and at home late in the season.

i see it as more packer favoritism disguised as payback for the vikes...i wonder what the actual chance is that this game gets played?....

Early in the season it is highly likely that fans will not be in attendance. This will be a huge advantage to the Packers coming here early. They wont have to contend with the noise allowing ARodgers to make adjustments at the LOS.

Later in the season it will be more likely that the fans will be allowed back in giving the Packers an advantage when we go there.

I don't know if they intentionally look for ways to give Aaron Rodgers and the Packers advantages, but as often as it seems to happen it's really hard not to think this.

I wouldn't be surprised if teams are allowed to pump in a ton of noise.

Both to help simulate a homefield advantage and so the fans aren't watching a mostly silent game.

they should allow teams to pipe in real fan noise from season ticket holder's living rooms simultaneously into the stadium - thousands of fans all watching the game at home on tv, and making a hell of a lot of noise....

real fan noise...live fan noise...living room to stadium....

So swearing, random conversations, etc?

Also I doubt most people watching at home are as loud as they'd be in a stadium. Crowds feed off each other in a shared experience.

they can blend and filter it, so there is nothing that is distinctly audible....

Joe Buck: Fox adding fake crowd noise into NFL broadcasts ‘is pretty much a done deal’ if there aren’t fans in the stands http://dlvr.it/RWc3ll

Bill Jandro -> RE: General Vikes Talk (5/14/2020 8:15:18 AM)

I think the game could be quite interesting w/o the crowd noise.

hearing the QB audibling. Defense chattering.

Grunting, swearing, trash talk, collisions all amplified

They're going to have to mute a lot of that because of swearing...

bohumm -> RE: General Vikes Talk (5/14/2020 3:41:52 PM)

How are you feeling, Bruce?

Yeah I was hoping for this. Would love to hear a WR scream if wide open.

Ricky J -> RE: General Vikes Talk (5/14/2020 6:48:46 PM)

Adding crowd noise? Like laugh tracks on old tv shows?

That's just beyond stupid, imo. Go with the flow NFL!

Murph -> RE: General Vikes Talk (5/14/2020 7:28:30 PM)

Hope your well soon, Bruce.

It's not going to he the same without the crowd. The rising crescendo. The real 3rd down noise on D.

And faking it is worse.

Bill Jandro -> RE: General Vikes Talk (5/15/2020 8:58:41 AM)

Bruce mentioned he was getting the Covid test Thursday. Idk how long it takes to get the results but it's possible he got admitted to the hospital if his condition had worsened being we haven't heard from him.

Sure hope your ok Bruce. hang in there.

I found this an interesting read even though it's a bit lengthy. We're not that picky right now, right? Slow time.

why in the world would the Bears have TEN TE's on the roster?[&:]

For all of you that think Rick Speilman is a p;roblem.

Things could be worse. They could be a LOT worse.

Good point. Spielman certainly has his annoying quirks but all in all he isn't terrible.

After a good rookie year Nagy and the Bears GM have fallen off the deep end.

Then it essentially would be who contracted the audio company with the best all encompassing, game time sound effects, who would have the best Home field advantage.

Back in the day I’d probably hire Bose.... (Old school)

I just got the call with the test result. I do have the virus. It's a little shocking to hear that, but I shouldn't be surprised. I've been really sick.

It's time for me to start getting better. My wife is amazing and she is taking care of me very well. I'm losing weight because I'm not eating much. I guess that is a good thing.

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (5/15/2020 8:06:23 PM)

You simply must get better.

You may want to follow Pager's very good advice and invest in low-cost pulse oximeter; you want the saturation percentage to stay at least in the low-90s. Also monitor any elevation in your respiratory rate or how hard you have to work to breathe normally, but COVID-19 Coronavirus is unique because your breathing might seem fine but your oxygenation is rapidly deteriorating (called "silent hypoxia"). A pulse oximeter reads the percentage of your hemoglobin receptors that are occupied (most likely by oxygen), which helps indicate how much oxygen is getting to your tissues and organs.

Follow all clinical advice, lay low, and get better. The paucity of links in recent days has been devastating.....

Tom Sykes -> RE: General Vikes Talk (5/16/2020 12:25:49 AM)

So sorry Bruce that you are going through it.

Hope you turn the corner and get better real fast.

So sorry to hear. Bruce is one of the finest of all the many fine folks on these threads. Always a pleasant gentlelman.

Bill Jandro -> RE: General Vikes Talk (5/16/2020 7:03:37 AM)

You can beat this Bruce.

Lynn G. -> RE: General Vikes Talk (5/16/2020 7:58:14 AM)

Sending all the positive healing energy your way, Bruce. You're an amazing guy and can beat this thing.

Also hoping and praying that your wife manages to fend it off.
