Pager -> RE: General Vikes Talk (5/9/2020 11:30:51 AM)

Anyone making predictions with the new schedule out? Just for fun, here's mine:

GB - W.
@IND - W. Rivers should have retired.
TEN - W
@HOU - W - Team is a hot mess.
@SEA - L
ATL - W
@GB - L
DET - W
@CHI - W
DAL - L
CAR - W
JAX - W
@TB - W
CHI - W
@ NO - L
@ Det - L

11-5 wins the division. The loss to NO means no top seed and we are resting starters in the last game @ Det.

Looks mostly realistic. I don't see a home loss to Dallas though. If week 17 has nothing to play for then I could see the loss at Detroit, but I'm going optimistic that we do have something to play for and we win that one also. 13-3 and gain the bye week for the playoffs.

Winning at Soldiers field is as rare as bigfoot sightings.

This will be the first time in franchise history the Vikings have opened the season at home against the Packers. They've opened at Lambeau Field six times -- most recently in Aaron Rodgers' debut as the Packers' starter in 2008.

I always think it makes a lot more sense for us to play at Pukers early in the season and at home late in the season.

i see it as more packer favoritism disguised as payback for the vikes...i wonder what the actual chance is that this game gets played?....

Early in the season it is highly likely that fans will not be in attendance. This will be a huge advantage to the Packers coming here early. They wont have to contend with the noise allowing ARodgers to make adjustments at the LOS.

Later in the season it will be more likely that the fans will be allowed back in giving the Packers an advantage when we go there.

I don't know if they intentionally look for ways to give Aaron Rodgers and the Packers advantages, but as often as it seems to happen it's really hard not to think this.

I wouldn't be surprised if teams are allowed to pump in a ton of noise.

Both to help simulate a homefield advantage and so the fans aren't watching a mostly silent game.

they should allow teams to pipe in real fan noise from season ticket holder's living rooms simultaneously into the stadium - thousands of fans all watching the game at home on tv, and making a hell of a lot of noise....

real fan noise...live fan noise...living room to stadium....

That's a good idea. I doubt the NFL could pull it off. Syncing would be an issue with the different video feeds that fans at home have access to. The U-verse feed differs a bit from the Hulu feed, etc.

So swearing, random conversations, etc?

Also I doubt most people watching at home are as loud as they'd be in a stadium. Crowds feed off each other in a shared experience.

I found this an interesting read even though it's a bit lengthy. We're not that picky right now, right? Slow time.

why in the world would the Bears have TEN TE's on the roster?[&:]

Bruce Johnson -> RE: General Vikes Talk (5/11/2020 9:31:44 AM)

I could understand it better if it was a later pick, but they made it their first pick.

You ever hear the saying that if you have 3 QBs you have none? They have so many TEs on the team, but none are any good. Kmet in the 2nd round was solid value.

The Bears hopes must lie with the distinct possibility of improved quarterback play.

It appears it's 11 including their draft pick.

Bill Jandro -> RE: General Vikes Talk (5/11/2020 12:30:17 PM)

Bears are also feeling the effects of not having a 1st rd pick in the last two drafts and paying Mack qb money 26ml

For all of you that think Rick Speilman is a p;roblem.

Things could be worse. They could be a LOT worse.

I only think Spielman is a problem when he drafts somebody other than my choice or signs somebody for too much [&:]. In all seriousness I think he does a great job. I had decided that Mims would be the best pick for us at WR, but since 58 picks came and went before he was taken I'll defer to Rick's judgment between the two. Gladney, Jones or Cleveland would have been my pick at 31 and since we got Cleveland at 58 I got to believe he made the right choices with those picks.

Bruce Johnson -> RE: General Vikes Talk (5/12/2020 5:12:47 AM)

Normally we have hockey and basketball playoffs now to get us through the football off-season. Baseball too. I'm sure some people have said this is their favorite sports time of year.

The worst part must be for many is that they can't return to work. They must be stir crazy. Maybe that applies to some of you.

Say a kind word for me to the Heavens. I've had a fever for four days and I'm in quarantine. The symptoms are not life threatening, I believe, but my wife is kind of freaked out.

I'm watching the Korean series called Vagabond. If you are bored I recommend you watch it. Lots of action.

Vegabond was great!

We watched Tell Me What You Saw on Rakuten Viki this past weekend. Next up will be Rugal on Netflix.

Absolutely Bruce. Do you think it's COVID? I was just requesting prayer for my ex wife Tammy this morning. She's seriously ill not COVID.

Did you lose your sense of smell or taste? How is your breathing?

Bruce Johnson -> RE: General Vikes Talk (5/12/2020 5:54:45 PM)

Right now just fever and some nausea, but my stomach is a bit better after chicken soup. The fever is the body's way of fighting disease. I made an appointment to get tested Thursday, but hopefully I feel better soon.

Pager -> RE: General Vikes Talk (5/12/2020 6:41:54 PM)

Feel better Bruce! Do you have a pulseox? They are pretty cheap to order/purchase.
