Loved Al Bundy.

SoMnFan -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/4/2020 10:52:30 AM)

Was surprised by a few things the other night
Maybe Evanson related
Galchenyuk the choice, Rask not
Stalock the starter, Dunbnyk the backup
Soucy in, Hunt in, Donato sparse
Greenway with some prime time
Spurg back to 1st PP unit
Just some random thoughts.

Loved Al Bundy.

Al and Red Foreman are two of my heroes.

Stalock made that game 3-0
NTG would have made it a 4-3 barnburner
I have zero doubt

Every time we scored, Vancouver came like demons at us
Stalock made a couple incredible saves on reactionary chances in close that Dubnyk would have just whiffed at and did the "gee they scored" thing.
Stalock was competing his ass off. Like a job was on the line.
He still shouldn't be our #1 goalie, but he was outstanding last night.
The boys play hard for him.

My thoughts exactly.
Stalock and Kaapo would be more effective duo to finish out than Dubes and ?.

Maybe some Covid desperate team will give up something for Dubes!

TJSweens -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/4/2020 1:16:02 PM)

Dubes will be entering the last year of his contract. Being a short term player could make him more appealing to another team. Otherwise, he is probably a prime buy out candidate.

I don't think there are any teams that will take him off our hands. I suspect he's a buy out candidate, or he is ours for one more year.

Damn, Stalock let in the first shot on goal tonight......

Ouch. It's my fault. I started watching late so I didn't have to put up with all the opening crap.

kgdabom -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/4/2020 10:27:45 PM)

Awesome. A Short Handed Goal by Parise ties it up. Vancouver has to be feeling the pressure.

kgdabom -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/4/2020 10:56:14 PM)

Nice end to end by the Vancouver player deke's the defender and gets an open shot for 2-1. Come on Wild.

kgdabom -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/4/2020 10:59:59 PM)

Staal had about as good a chance as you're ever going to get unless it's empty net, but couldn't convert. Still down 1-2.

kgdabom -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/4/2020 11:30:25 PM)

Down 3-1 entering the third. 2nd period mostly dominated by Vancouver until the Wild got a few good opportunities late. Hard to come back from down 3-1 in the third.

SoMnFan -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/5/2020 6:52:36 AM)

The boys gave it a shot, no one laid over.
4-3 final.
Fiala with 2 in the third. Kids a playah.
Knew Vancouver would push last night
Will be interesting to see what we answer with in Game 3.

Lynn G. -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/5/2020 8:32:25 AM)

The advantage for games 3 and 4? They come home!

Oh, what's that you say? Same place, same "fans?"

Weird playoffs.

SoMnFan -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/5/2020 8:34:42 AM)

Last change should help
Vancouvers 3rd and 4th lines drop off dramatically

TJSweens -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/5/2020 9:31:58 AM)

Last night the boys were just a step slow out of the gate. They couldn't stay out of the penalty box long enough to gain any momentum. Fiala got a couple of garbage timers to make it look respectable. They need a better sense of urgency from the start of game three.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/5/2020 10:19:20 AM)

Stalock was awful on that first goal. Got woefully out of position and then got beat by a fairly harmless shot because of it. He set the tone and then, as Tim mentioned, the march to the box just put us in a huge hole.

That first shot was definitely a Duby Du-oh. I wouldn't even consider changing goalies as a result. Stalock will give up one of those every two or three games, while NTG will have at least one per game in the playoffs.

Stalock ain't the guy either, but he is closer to it than NTG,

TJSweens -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/6/2020 3:21:22 PM)

Good guys down 1-0 after 2.

SoMnFan -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/6/2020 3:28:55 PM)

Too many kills today

Get out the golf clubs.

TJSweens -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/6/2020 3:47:47 PM)

Ugh, 2-0.

kgdabom -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/6/2020 4:09:16 PM)

I'm Mr anti-tank, but if we lose this series and win the #1 pick in the draft would it be that terrible of a thing?

TJSweens -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/6/2020 4:12:46 PM)

While I can never pull for the Wild to lose, a scenario where the Wild are knocked out right away and get the first pick, along with Pittsburgh beating Montreal could be a franchise transforming moment. We would get the 1st and 24th picks in what is being called a historically deep draft, heading into a year where we are finally adding Kaprizov to the lineup and Fiala looking like an emerging NHL star.

stfrank -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/6/2020 4:20:51 PM)

I haven't seen hardly any of the games due to the terrible times, so I can't say for sure, but it appears we are the same old Wild team that plays one good game in the playoffs and then gets smoked.
I have no problem with your scenario playing out Sweens. If nothing else it would give us some hope of more than the usual one and done playoff run.

TJSweens -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/6/2020 4:30:35 PM)

All I know is that Alexis Lafrenière, Kaprizov, Fiala, Calen Addison, Kappo, Ek, Greenway and Kunin would be a young core to get pretty damn excited about.
