Sudden denials about the DEs after proclaiming "very good depth". Forget Twilight Zone, this is The Outer Limits.

I like Kerrigan better than Wonnum and Weatherly....Cut Holmes, Willekes and maybe Weatherly. Get over it. Does that equal trumpeting rookies......again look back and see what I have said about Jones or Robinson....I know nothing about either.

If we can get Kerrigan for Cheap sign me up.

Quit being dumb Bill. You think Washington was going to pay both Chase and Kerrigan big money?

Like I said initially that caused you to get all bent out of shape, enjoy your has-been Kerrigan acquisition. I'm hoping for max reps amongst the youngsters to see if there is someone who will pan out.

Speaking of dumb, you've got that cornered.

I will defend myself when it comes to your attacks and name calling...sick of it. As are others.

You opinions on the Vikings is just fine when you decide to post it.

I'm simply calling out blatant stupidity. I read a blatantly stupid post and sometimes reply regardless of who wrote it. 9 times out of 10 it turns out you are the author of said post.

Nice.

I post 53 when I want to post 53.

It will def include more than 8 OL.

Jefferson, Diggs, Theilen…

I would tend to say that where there is a fn smoldering dumpster fire… there’s is actually a smoldering dumpster fire..

While all these players are benefitting from record setting receiving years catching passes from that very QB.

Jefferson didn't express any dissatisfaction. He said Cousins is going to get you the ball exactly where you need him to throw it. Beyond that he said he enjoyed Burrow's swagger and outward confidence. Sometimes people just read way too much into a simple comment because it fits their narrative.

Thank you.

Need an example an Internet Troll....just look at their signature. Specifically Bill's.

One of my finest, yet ironically is 100% your words WRT the OL. But to suit you, I'll replace it.

It would be only fitting if his eulogy has a 7 second delay.

Bobby Knight, John Chaney, and Bill Parcells were probably the bridge guys from the old school ranters to the modern age showcasing Denny Green and Jim Mora.

And Burns' rant was after the Vikings WON!

Burns -> RE: General Vikes Talk (5/12/2021 6:08:42 PM)

We lost an icon today. A true character and a pioneer offensive coordinator. The real originator of the “West Coast” offense, despite others getting the fame. He provided the blueprints.

Several years ago, John Childress proclaimed here on talkvikes that the Jerry Burns offense fundamentally differed from the Bill Walsh West Coast offense. I don't recall his rationale, but ever since then I've been agnostic regarding whether Burns should receive more credit for the WC offense. Regardless, Burns' offensive philosophy was clearly ahead of its time.

Eh, whether you want to call it west coast or not, it had several similar elements.

For sure, Burns was a pioneer in popularizing one RB offense, which has become the standard now. I recall a quote from way back someone asked Burns about how that came about. He replied “Well I only had one good running back”.

The answer is deceptively simple, but genius. Burns could see beyond convention and ask why do I have to do it this way just because that’s the way it’s always been done? Who says you need two RBs? He used what he had and devised something new.

Kind of what I am thinking, granted some teams will not be "all that" as the season plays out but if Zimmer and Speilman have their jobs on the line I would say they have their work cut out for themselves.

His refusal to change his offense and run H Walker out of the I formation is his legacy.

He had sets that ran Walker out of the I. He disrupted the whole offense to accommodate him. It required a massive restructure of blocking schemes since the Vikings running game was geared to trap blocking. Herschel would take the handoff out of the I and tippy toe to the line of scrimmage and get stuffed. It threw the offense out of whack.

ronhextall -> RE: General Vikes Talk (5/13/2021 10:11:41 AM)

Was in my dorm room with wire clothes hanger and tinfoil wrapped all over the room to see that first Walker game, room was full of Vikings fans and we exploded when he threw that shoe off.

That was an awesome moment. It was also the high water mark.

Also last year (2020) was our scheduled 'every-eleven-years' appearance in the NFC Championship Game. I imagine covid-19 postponed it to this year.

Yep. It has always been my contention that Burnsie was the founder of the West Coast Offense.
Considering how he lived I'm amazed that he made it to 94. [:D]
