Did God ever tell Cousins to get vaccinated? You know, so he could help the team and not have to sit out a game late in the season. Or are he and God fine as long as KC can hog 20% of the team's cap?

"So, I'm going to be vigilant about avoiding a close contact. I've even thought about, should I even set up, literally, Plexiglas around where I sit, so that this could never happen again? I thought about it, 'cause I'm gonna do whatever it takes."

There's a mind at work! Was it to be a transportable type of structure, or would there be several of them for good old Kirk? Would he have paid? Why didn't he follow through on his well-thought out plan to do "whatever it takes"?

Heck, he'd love to be "literally" plexiglassed in, even without COVID.

What a doofus.

Well you're just going to have to get used to the doofus, cause he ain't going no where - not for awhile

Yeah I already said that. A year from now and he and his contract are gone.

I don’t think there’s a single QB in NFL history who put up top 10 stats every single year & is still disrespected the way Kirk Cousins is.

I know stats aren’t everything, but when a guy is statistically great every season for 7 straight years, maybe he’s just great…

When after seven full seasons a QB is 59-59-2, maybe he's just not great...

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (2/26/2022 6:39:12 PM)

Statistics miss a lot of the story with Kirk.

But ignoring that, it does NOT make fiscal sense to keep him, and now is the time to trade him.

Good one!

ratoppenheimer -> RE: General Vikes Talk (2/27/2022 2:38:30 AM)

.
.
last night i just watched the condensed 40-minute version of the vikings-chargers game from last season...cousins made some great throws to Jefferson, but he also made several drive-killing whimpy-ass fumbles, throws, sacks....

i just don't see the value of keeping cousins in 2021 - we could get draft and cap-space assets for him - even if they're minimal it's a step forward....

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (2/27/2022 2:24:05 PM)

I don't remember a 2023 2nd being on the table with the #6 pick but if that's the offer from Carolina...would we really turn that down?

That kind of draft capital AND 35 million off the books...seems like something too good to be true not something to baulk at.

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (2/27/2022 2:58:41 PM)

I'm not good enough to look at 2023 guys and see that many that would be definitively better than the best of this class.

Kenny Pickett's game looks good enough to me to excel in what it looks like the KOO projects to be.

Take Garett Wilson at 6 and Pickett @12 and let's not worry about qb draft war 2023.

bohumm -> RE: General Vikes Talk (2/27/2022 3:10:09 PM)

I seriously doubt that Carolina would send the sixth pick without Kirk being extended as part of the deal, and even then I doubt it. Best I could imagine would be something like switching picks in the first plus the Carolina second for an extended Kirk.

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (2/27/2022 3:56:33 PM)

I'd have to think you're right. I.E., a trade proposal that was a swapping of 1sts.

Phil Riewer -> RE: General Vikes Talk (2/27/2022 7:41:50 PM)

I remember the other options to Kirk. The other 3 options were going to cost money and had injury or production issues.

The Vikings have either had bad luck with injuries or production at QB. We finally have a qb that stays healthy and plays thru sore ribs and produces and we find something else to complain about.

I know Ricky J has a very valid point.

Ricky J -> RE: General Vikes Talk (2/27/2022 8:16:10 PM)

If you just get a stop on defense both teams get a possession! Go down and score a touchdown on first possession of overtime and you deserve to win! twitter.com/brgridiron/sta…

Me: Same rules as before only first TD in regulation gets choice in OT - that'll add a little spice yet be at least as fair as a coin flip

I remember Bradford and Teddy collecting pay checks and not playing all year and when Kirk gets Covid....oh my.

Cook, Thielen, and Smith also got COVID and missed game (s) and nothing....all pretty religious and nothing....but Kirk lets villify him. Seems some are still butt hurt we didn't keep the lesser arm talent Case around.

The stars aligned for Case that year and he still hasn't out produced any of Kirks seasons...but people just don't get it.

I remember watching Dan Fouts and the reason why he never won a Super Bowl was never him or the offense. The GM didn't build a complete team around him. (Same thing applies to Bradford). If you think Mahomes and Josh Allen can do it all themselves.....this year should have proven it to you. FYI KC and Buffalo had more complete teams than the Vikings and it was on the other side of the ball that we had issues with.

There is a little difference between missing time and collecting a paycheck when your knee explodes and when you steadfastly refuse to get vaccinated, putting yourself and teammates at a higher risk of catching a deadly virus.

I and a few others ripped Cook, Thieln and Smith when they caught covid. They, like Cousins, made incredibly uninformed, selfish and stupid decisions that put themselves above their teammates. We had an epidemic of leaders not acting like leaders.

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (2/28/2022 8:21:38 AM)

So you think that Thielen, Cook, and Smith received as much grief as Cousins? I know they didn't. Yes Sweens was one but I think the backups filled in fine for the others....that is the FO's fault for not having the backup QB ready to play. Hell Cousins caught as much if not more grief than Rodgers and he was caught lying about it.

Daniel Lee Young -> RE: General Vikes Talk (2/28/2022 9:49:29 AM)

Kirk Stan’s just don’t get it.

They slobber over his “stats”, excuse his leadership by saying it’s not his fault the defense sucks or the kicker sucks..

Kirk ****ING SUCKS Cousins gets paid like the goat QBs who Carry their teams, defense bad, or defense good, into the playoffs.

Kirk Cousins is a pussy.

He can’t put even the weakest of teams in our own division, away or build an insurmountable lead, even if given a short field.

Go Back and check how many times did the VIKINS STANS “bestest QB ever”, settle for a field goal because he couldn’t get the ball into the endzone from 20 yards and under.

I don’t want to hear about…” that’s on the playcalling”.. **** NO IT IS NOT..

A quarterback with brains and Balls finds a way, Kirk BOT, RUNS TWICE INTO THE TEETH OF THE DEFENSE, THEN THROWS A BALL OUT OF THE ENDZONE…settling for the safe FG.

He gets 21% of our cap while we sit at16 million dollars over the cap.. to be a lifetime 50% winner..

**** his yards, **** his completion percentage, **** his hillbilly, antivaxx, I’m smarter than science or doctors, Facebook mentality..

Right now is swap this Prima-“Don’t” Cousins, for Sam Darnold and a bad of Pennies, just to unload that ****ing contract.

Phil Mackey 🎙@PhilMackey·2h"Zimmer complained openly in coaching meetings about Cousins, and some of Zimmer’s top lieutenants echoed the sentiment. Zimmer didn’t feel the quarterback made enough 'winning plays' ... and that he didn’t elevate his teammates."

Chad Graff@ChadGraff
Towards the end of his tenure, Mike Zimmer bemoaned Kirk Cousins to several within the Vikings.

Now, if the Vikings keep Cousins, it’s a bet Kevin O’Connell can connect with the QB in ways Cousins’ previous coaches couldn’t. See Story:

They were selfish because of the rules in place. The rules that were made with PR in mind, not science.

Elite athletes without any health problems should have a choice. They are not at risk and we are seeing a real life case study that says so. On top of that, everyone can contract and spread the virus.

10X and 40X (more likely for people without shots to have problems from Covid) are pretty scary statistics. But all it really means is going from 99.997% to 99.97 chance of no problems for these healthy, in their prime athletes.
