Kyle Rudolph available. [8|]

He's already costing us $2.9 million against the cap in 2022 so seriously why not bring him in? If we gave him a one-year-deal for $2.9 million would it effectively have no impact on our current cap space?

Don't know how the cap would work there...but quite frankly the team has moved on from Rudy. and they should have. He's a shadow of his former self.

i'd sign rudolph to a minimum deal at te #3...he can still make catches that only a couple of players in the NFL can make....

rudloph the redzone reindeer....

if he goes 17-190-6 that would be fine....

Good point. I guess the question would be do we want him using up a roster spot?

Daniel Lee Young -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/2/2022 2:43:07 PM)

Why would Rudolph get off his couch to play a violent game, when he can get money for not playing.

You can ask.. yea.. but if it were me? After all the surgery and other crap?

I’m gonna ( not so politely) say no thanks.

We can afford to make it $2.900001M. AND we can dangle the "Vikings Ring of Honor" thing out there.

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/2/2022 4:06:38 PM)

There's no way his signing would be free or discounted just bc we have money on the books for him.

Ofcourse.

The only FA TE we should be begging for a hometown discount is Conklin.

But you can't just give credit to Cousins for the positive and dismiss the negative.

Oh yes he can.

Remember, you can treat close losses as potential wins, but you can't treat narrow wins as potential losses.

Again in context Marty keeps saying Kirk isn't clutch...I don't see it. He was clutch most of the year.

I will never forgive myself for trying to debate with you amiably on this issue.

That's nothing. You should try debating events like the election fallout, the world economy, the war in Ukraine (ex. why Hunter Biden being on a board there caused Putin to attack), and on and on and on. Many do debate him, and sadly like you will one too realize they will never forgive themselves for doing so!

Ricky J -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/2/2022 8:34:48 PM)

the $2.9m has already been paid and would stay on the books as dead money...i'd pay rudolph $1m for 2022 as a specialist...we've got that guy zach Davidson that's 6'-7" and runs a 4.65/40 - also punts....

Phil Riewer -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/3/2022 5:29:45 AM)

Great comment from Tommy Kramer:

Mike Lynn agreed to give me a 3 million dollar contract only if I went to Hazelden for 30 days, he gave Rickey Young a bonus to go with me. Rodney Dangerfield was there the same time, us 3 together, wasn’t good. 😂

An opinion on keeping Kirk or not shouldn’t include BS statements. Apparently some posters need to rewatch some games.

We'll soon start seeing the restructures around the league. Very quickly after that a lot of teams will have enough cap to be players in free agency.

I think we might renegotiate say two contracts as they try to limit/avoid pushing cap into the future. Besides, their job is not to overpay for pricy projected top FAs (many who do not work out) but instead find the young, cheap players.

I think Hunter is the 1st target. We can cut his cap hit in half with some simple re-structuring.

I think Cousins is either traded or we do the voidable years deal. I don't think we stand pat and eat the 45M.

Something needs to be done with Pierce. Salary reduction or cut. Too many DNPs.

Read somewhere that moving Hunter and Smiths roster bonuses to signing bonuses gives them 3 million in cap space (didn't know about Smiths)

Yeah waiting for some early aromas. Some indications.

I know if I was in suddenly charge I’d cut people I didn’t like, sign as many celebrity over-priced name players as I could, and leave the cap swollen and unsalvageable for a decade. I couldn’t handle the new GM temptations.

As you say, disciplined smart decisions hopefully. Fix mode first.

The only splash I want is insight into QB intentions, whatever that is.
