You want to bring a fn damaged beyond use, player back, from injury, again..

Tie up money for a maybe?

Hard pass..

Move on..

Can't draw a complete conclusion on this except to say Phillips is about average [8|]

I think Dantzler and Peterson will be the starting CBs for awhile.

If Booth shines, and looks too good to keep off the field, I think they'll put him in Sullivan's slot, in the slot.

does peterson still have top-end sideline speed?...i'm sure that booth is much faster than he is...we'll see how things play out, but we might want dantzler as cb#1 and peterson cb#2....

pff has dantzler rate #5 in press coverage over the last two years...17th overall in 2021 - but he ended very strong....

i'm not crowning booth here...i just don't want the best players on the field...it just seems that cb's have a tendency to fall off a cliff when they get older....

peterson was ranked as the #57th cb in 2021....

Honestly. Is that what your eyeballs told you?

I thought Dantzler was not good at all to start ... maybe more from a confidence standpoint ... played better at times as the year went on ...

He looked good in a few sequences but I still don't trust a CB with confidence issues.

I know the Zimmer Demonizers will chime in and blame EVERYTHING on him including concession prices and parking availability but ... IMO Dantzler has a long way to go to establish himself as a legitimate starting CB. Regardless of PFF.

#5 in press coverage? Against physical receivers?

C'mon. Not even.

i remember two items about dantzler in 2021...he was on the old man's shit list the first half of the season, and he allowed the winning touchdown in the loss to detroit....

zimmer demonizer: yeah, but dantzler is a youngster...zimmer was obviously out of his mind because he continued the play breeland for as long as he did...breeland got burned over and over and contributed mightily to us losing games, maybe even more than zimmer did in a few....

many respectable people and organizations have chimed in about dantzler, and that's where i get information from...dantzler seemed to disappear towards the end of the season so i didn't notice him making bad plays or getting beat much - improvement expressed via lack of attention....

I see commentary in here and on vikings-related sites ... I haven't really seen anything on the outside objectively saying that Danzler is a good CB. I hope I'm wrong and he elevates to another level this year.

As far as Zimmer's influence, he had too many issues to list categorically here ... thank God he's gone ... etc etc ... I just think you have to give players credit for something – not just the good.

The commentary coming into the season was that Dantzler had regressed from the previous year in training camp and preseason. Based on him, on Zimmer, on Breeland ... who knows.

remember how you felt (understandably so) when people were giving osborn some praise in training camp last summer?...this seems much more probable....

Not sure where you were going with this, Osborne ended up blooming pretty nicely as our #3 WR with 655 yards and 7 TDs in his second season, in a run first offense, behind 2 established star WRs. If we can get similar performance at CB out of Dantzler in his 3rd season I'd be pretty happy.

I'm not sure what influence the Rat would have in any decision to keep Danielle Hunter, unless he pitched in for some of Hunter's $18M roster bonus last March?

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/2/2022 9:50:21 AM)

I'm confused as to who Dan is even referring to.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/2/2022 9:59:59 AM)

Probably thought Grif.

Probably thought Grif.

Yes, and no…

Grif was a “ not only no, but hell no” after he went all whack-a-doodle with a gun…

Hunter is one bad tackle or cheap shot hit from stingelyvillle..

Unless he is terrible at money management, or just a junior seau wannabe…

I think he should think more about himself and family.

Than football..

He’s 27.. he could have 3-4 good years, or it could be over, money tied up in an injury plagued career contract, by October.

I’m kinda on the fence..

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/2/2022 10:38:42 AM)

I'm only on the fence as to whether Hunter will beat the sack record or crush it. [:D]

All of Hunter, ZED, and Philips have an injury history but the Vikes invested in a better training staff and revamped it similar to LA. Fingers crossed.

I think Rat was inferring … and I’m amazed he remembers at all, that because I was ‘down’ on our backup WRs as group last offseason, that I thought Osborn was bad or not performing to expectations. I was more worried about unproven players backing up a significant injury to Theien or JJ.

Unproven … which is different than Dantzler although I think Dantzler is not a finished product.

Regardless, I will admit to being wrong … both Osborne and ISM stepped up with the opportunities they were given. I was wrong about a lot other players also. I hope I’m wrong about Dantzler.

What can I say … I’m busy tamping down my offseason expectations while others are working to keep theirs afloat.

A move for center will take my excitement for the season way up.

It's weird that center is going to dictate my expectations so much

I honestly feel Bradbury could cost us 4 games

Center is kind of like a skill position. They make all the line calls and keep the qb safe and sound in the pocket. Our guy can make the calls, but he’s really bad at the other parts of his position.

Frustrating. He needed to roll through pre season and be ready to produce. Now he's on the sidelines. #loweredexpectations. For Irv anyway.

Take the $ earmarked for Suh and give it to Tretter.

Agreed. An injured Tretter is better than Bradbury, in my opinion. He’s the weakest link on the offense, and has been for a while.
