Who starts in place of Udoh, Wyatt Davis or Dakota Dozier?

I had a friend who went to the SF game. He sat next to Davis' dad. He said his son was doing most of his work at Center.

This is another thing that makes me nuts. Davis was a 5 star recruit out of high school at guard. He was an All Big 10 selection and a 1st team All American selection at guard. He was drafted as a guard. But, we think that a not very good offensive line coach is going to turn him into a center?

Welcome to the MN Vikings' practice field, where tackles are made to play guard, guards are made to play center, and the player with the most clout starts unless injured with no regard to talent or past performance. Who plays tackle you ask? The one good one of course and then whatever garbage we have lying around can play left tackle because as we know, left tackle is the most meaningless and least important of the spots. Just put wrestlers in at all the spots if possible.

Thatd prob work

- just a tip: if you're going to make fun of wrestlers you should probably keep it over the net and not face-to-face

I don't see that I made fun of wrestlers.

It struck me as being very complimentary to wrestlers.

It didn't have anything to do with wrestlers themselves but rather how the team seems to talk up their picks for the line by saying he was a wrestler. Was he? Great! Can he play his position well? No? Then who cares if he was a wrestler.

David Levine -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/28/2021 12:51:45 PM)

I read it as if we're going to play linemen totally out of position, that wrestlers would probably have a better chance to succeed.

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/28/2021 1:26:29 PM)

It wouldn't be that surprising if the Vikes win at GB, they did last year (the strong winds helped), and Cousins tends to do well after a poor outing this year.

I am assuming KC thinks of the game against the Rams as a poor outing.

Or was Chicago the poor outing and LA the bounce back game?

This team desperately needs Hunter to come back healthy.

The current group of DE's are major bad. Wonnum should. not be a starter in this league (trading Weatherly prolly was not a good idea).
Jones is young, but has shown nothing as of yet.
Dudes were just getting. destroyed by a back up Rams Oline.

A little worried about Hunter considering he's coming of neck and peck. surgeries. Major wear on the body.

Regardless of what direction the team goes next year, seems we have major holes. at DE and IOL (Bradbury and our RGs need to go)
CBs too depending on what happens to Peterson. Dantlzer seems to be the only young CB with any promise.
If Barr's last year, LB too

If they don't get the DE position figured out, the D will be in a wold of hurt next year.

Seems to be the story of Spielman's teams, always in desperate need in multiple areas.

Why there is so much parity in the NFL today, it's hard to be good in all areas with free agency, injuries, etc.
But you can't be grossly deficient like we seem to be in areas.

Wonnum gets three sacks in one game but shouldn't be a starter in this league?

Right

Well, it looks like I'm an overly sensitive one here. I apologize, DF
-i thought it was a rip on my comment last week how Zim could take Rick.

In Zimmer logic it makes sense. Sloter is the "veteren" when compared to the rookie. Even though Sloter wasn't good enough to keep because he was the rookie, now that there's a younger one yet it makes Sloter the guy.

David Levine -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/28/2021 5:07:05 PM)

"Ah, only in the Zimmerverse would you sign a QB you never wanted to use in a game in order to save yourself from putting another QB you never want to use, in a game."

Unreal. It just gets dumber and dumber. Can we end this already? By the way, I watched Mond play in several games over the last two years of his college career. He was okay, but has a very low ceiling, in my opinion.

Steve Lentz -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/28/2021 5:50:35 PM)

I have very little confidence in either Sloter or Mond. I have very little confidence in our OL.
I love our skill players Cook and Jefferson. I believe Jefferson is as good as a WR as there is in the league.

I also believe Spielman will keep his job and Cousins will be off our roster next year.

Daniel Lee Young -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/28/2021 5:58:42 PM)

How much worse could Sloter or Mond really be.. for a fraction of the cap money?

I take it all of you bitching about Slotter, are perfectly fine with the 45 million dollar albatross…

Personally, I’d run Christian Ponder out there if it meant cousins was gone.

**** that blind robotic weasle.

Daniel Lee Young -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/28/2021 6:04:44 PM)

There is No BIGGER endorsement of potential talent, than the fact that Zimmer won’t play you in a skill position or design plays for your skillset..

Run , run, throw short of the sticks, punt.

Y’all love it, sooo much, but god forbid, they replace fantasy football king with a QB who shows the ability to score touchdowns and lead by motivation.

I just saw that John Madden died. I wasn’t a big fan, but he was a football icon.

joejitsu -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/28/2021 6:40:07 PM)

Pederson is looking at the jags job. We should look at Start to think about some young offensive minds to replace our dinasours before they all get snatched up.

Greatest color guy in the history of the NFL. Revolutionized the job in the booth. The sweat contest. Hilarious comments.

Once said about Leroy Hoard; "If you need one yard, he'll get you three. If you need five yards, he'll get you three."

Yup. Hoard originated that quote. If Madden used it, it was quoting Hoard.

Regarding his skills, Hoard reportedly once said to his coach, "Coach, if you need one yard, I'll get you three yards. If you need five yards, I'll get you three yards."

Madden was the best. It wasn't an act. Just a genuine football guy.

The sad part of your post is that he's not even a fantasy football king. He rarely runs and doesn't throw enough TD passes.

Yeah I think Spielman is too oily and shrewd to lose his job this year.

Guru Zimmer's overall defensive collapse the last three years and late game incompetence this year will probably cut Spielman some slack with the Wilfs. Plus, by firing Zimmer, Spielman gets to bring in a new staff and extend his own stinky job for another two years at least.

*Which means Cousins isn't going anywhere. Releasing 45M guaranteed would be GM suicide guaranteed ... Not even Spielman the Rasputin of GMs could survive that; and nobody is going to make that trade especially the 49ers Lynch who is just too savvy to inherit our comical problem. Plus, Cousins may not be a winner but he gives a new HC a soft landing pad with lots of fluffy production for one season whilst a new youngster is hand picked to groom.

*If Spielman goes, I could see us doing a hard reset and trading Cousins, with some goats and sheep to sweeten the pot.
