Safety ?

You win Super Bowls with DLine and Cornerbacks.

Wtf?

Way too much hand wringing going on. The Vikings are going to get at least 7 of the top 100 players and many draft experts have gushed about the solid first 100 guys in this draft. The #66 pick is just two picks out of the second round, this was not a bad trade, just not flashy and obviously the way you guys wanted it to go.

Dana I respect you, but gaining 12 spots in the second and a 3rd round pick isn't appropriate compensation for moving back 20 spots in the first. Jordan Davis seems like a sure fire all pro. Giving him up for that is not worth it.

We also gave them our 2nd round pick.

I think I’m done with our new GM..

Passed on 20 better players, including a safety and WRs and other needs to get a third place safety, and lose point to a divisional rival, and let said rival take a player the will be testing that safety every time they share a field…

Fn brilliant..

Come back in three years and prove every player drafted between 12 and 31 is better than him. I highly doubt you will be able to.

Chris Olson -> RE: 2022 NFL draft (4/28/2022 10:50:03 PM)

i think Tampa may have been targeting Safety, maybe that is why they picked Cine over Booth...whom we can take after their pick tomorrow

Karl Juhnke -> RE: 2022 NFL draft (4/28/2022 10:51:57 PM)

Found him on one first round mock draft...It’s Peter King so take it or leave it. He had Cine at 30 to KC.

30. Kansas City Chiefs: Lewis Cine, safety, Georgia

One of the great stories in this draft, and one of the players scouts like the most. Cine (pronounced “Seen”) was born in Haiti to a 16-year-old mom; it’s why he wore “16” at Georgia. His early life was split between Haiti and Florida, and he moved to Massachusetts to be with his dad for a few years, then finished high school in Dallas. That’s where he was tutored by Deion Sanders as a player and became a big-time recruit. At 6-2 ¼ and 200 pounds, he runs a 4.37 40-yard dash and hits like a strong safety. “What a lot of us like about him is he’s a natural leader, and he played his best in the biggest games,” said one GM. That includes being the defensive MVP in the national championship game against Alabama. Kansas City would be a good spot for him, and he could make a 2022 impact.

Tom Sykes -> RE: 2022 NFL draft (4/28/2022 10:52:36 PM)

As I mentioned earlier, CB Booth may have medical concerns according to Ragatz at sports illustrated.

Also, I just read an article today about some underrated players that may squeeze into the first rd Cine was one of them. Almost changed my draft challenge list from S Brisker.

Several names surface in conversations with teams about the second safety off the board behind Notre Dame's Kyle Hamilton. But no one comes up more often than Cine, who is 6-foot-2 1/4, 199 pounds -- and, as one GM put it, "can absolutely f---ing run." Cine blazed the 40-yard dash in 4.37 seconds at the NFL Scouting Combine, with a 36 1/2-inch vertical leap and an 11-foot-1 broad jump. He was highly productive for the Bulldogs, racking up 73 tackles and nine pass breakups on the way to third-team All-America honors and winning defensive MVP of the College Football Playoff National Championship Game. Teams say his personality isn't what you'd expect from such a physical player, but it's not seen as a problem, especially given how hard he plays. So, while some prefer Michigan's Dax Hill, Baylor's Jalen Pitre or Penn State's Jaquan Brisker, Cine has a lot of fans and his draft slot figures to reflect that.

I am ok with Cine ... at least its a secondary player.

CB Gordon (or Booth if we think he checks out medically), Edge Ojabo, or WR Watson would make a nice 2nd rd pick

Wouldnt be surprised by TE McBride either.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: 2022 NFL draft (4/28/2022 10:57:58 PM)

winning defensive MVP of the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.

LOL, Jameson Williams and Metchie were out. Who did he defend?

kgdabom -> RE: 2022 NFL draft (4/28/2022 10:58:00 PM)

If Cine turns out as good or better than Hamilton then good trade. If he doesn't not so good. Reading comments from Georgia fans they say he's fast and hit's hard, but he can't cover his junk with a fig leaf.

Lewis Cine (Georgia)
Measurements:
Height: 6-foot-2 | Weight: 199 pounds
2021 Stats:
73 tackles
1 interception
9 passes defended
2 tackles for loss
There was plenty of intrigue surrounding Lewis Cine heading into the 2021 season. The safety was moving up to a key role for Georgia and to say he coped well with additional responsibilities would be the biggest of understatements.

Cine made his presence felt from start to finish as the Bulldogs’ defense as they conquered almost all-comers en route to a convincing national championship triumph. The talented prospect has backed this up with a solid evaluation process, which could see him enter first-round consideration when it’s all said and done.

It’s hard not to love the way Cine goes about his business on the field. He communicates well from the backend, is ruthlessly aggressive on all fronts, and boasts elite speed that assists both in coverage and against the run.

Providing Cine can improve his positioning on occasions and cut down on the missed tackles, then this is a player with Day 1 starting potential. No team can ever have enough individuals like Cine – those that give everything to the cause and inspire others around them.

The Minnesota Vikings have enjoyed this with Harrison Smith over the years. Pairing him with Cine is a tempting proposition depending on how the board plays out.

Could have drafted Hamilton at 12, if we wanted a safety?

Mel says very little separation between Cine and Hamilton
[8D]

Really?

yes that's why I said we moved up 12 spots in the 2nd round from 46 to 34.

All that's needed to be proved is one of them was better. Particularly Hamilton. Hopefully, who we get at 34 will make it worth it.

Hmmm ... interesting.

Kwesi's little draft maneuver and our second guessing are just one more little obstacle for him to overcome.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: 2022 NFL draft (4/28/2022 11:05:10 PM)

Travon Walker, #1 overall, played 52% of snaps at Georgia in 2021. Don't tell bohumm.

LOL I knew somebody would go there. It was a metaphor meaning he does not have good coverage skills.

ratoppenheimer -> RE: 2022 NFL draft (4/28/2022 11:09:16 PM)

we could package our two 3rd rounders and move down to #43 or #44 in the 2nd round...or our #77 and three 6th rounders get back in the bottom of the 2nd round....

Todd M -> RE: 2022 NFL draft (4/28/2022 11:10:42 PM)

Scraps saying that trade was just to good to pass up.

If we had gotten Detroits 2nd and not given up ours it would have been.

this is the key...do we get a legit corner like Booth or? maybe WR like Watson or Pickens?

Yeah, as I look at tomorrow it's like a pick is missing to use or do something with.

i woke up at 4am and checked our status - i thought detroit must have given us something in 2023, too...it didn't seem to make sense....
