ORIGINAL: Tom Sykes So I guess if we're going to swallow Hunter's full 19.4M Everybody put aside their FA addition fantasies. By my count, we've added one FA (Hicks) who will compete for a starter spot and one more that will compete for a spot in a rotation (Phillips). Neither being an improvement over last year. Cousins Cook JJ, Thielen, Osborn Smith Darrisaw, Cleveland Bradbury Davis O'Neill Hunter Phillips Tomlinson, Wonnum Kendricks, Hicks Dantzler (our best CB!), Hand, Boyd Smith, Bynum Time to start talking about the draft!!! Philips is an improvement over Pierce. CBs=OUCH I don't agree Mark. But I hope he proves me wrong. Philips has played 26 games the last two years. Pierce 8 games. Do we know what covid will bring next year? He(Pierce) might have to opt out again. maybe he's vaccinated now. It wasn't available when he opted out. I'm sure he is. ' But there is always that risk with him if some super variant comes. Also, look at Philips stats. He is ascending. Starting to hit his prime. Pierce had his fair shake here. He didn't produce. The old Bud Grant "availability" quote comes in here. You must have responded before reading my EDIT about Phillips being an ascending player LOL. Keep in mind, he has been a fill in player for injuries until the last game of last season through the playoffs, so his 'ascending' label is from very small sample size. [I don't want to take too much away from him, he played well in the playoffs) Meanwhile, Pierce has been solid starter material and productive over his career, and he's 29 (with low mileage), not 32+. Yes he has had some injuries. The new variant angle is wildly off base ... you have no idea what the future holds for yourself much less Pierce. Not worthy of your usual arguments. Your Yeah. Covid angle probably a reach. Honestly, it would be nice to have both. Pierce and Tomlinson for NT and Philips a 5 technique.
