I'll use it when its someone's preferred term and I know its what they want. I don't ever throw it around as an insult, or use it to describe a group of people I don't know personally.
That's not what Ant did.

As many have pointed out, Ant is a very young dude, very possibly raised in a homophobic culture and I can absolutely cut him slack for that (I would hope he'd want to learn about why so many people are upset about this and be open to changing his attitude, but that's up to him) but this was broadcast in a way that just feels mean-spirited to me, which isn't how I wanted to view Ant, as a mean-spirited person who would pick on strangers online for any reason.
