Please…..[&o]. not aimed at you but the author. What made DC “so fun” was 84.

Absolutely

The only player or coach in the organization who did not benefit from the Moss hog trough was Jake Reed.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/10/2023 1:21:37 PM)

Now $9.5 million over the cap. Plus will need cap for the rookie class and in-season transactions.

Dead cap at $19.2 million. Grow 2023 dead cap grow!

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/10/2023 1:29:44 PM)

Z Smith is the big cap savings prize at $12M (dead cap $3.3).

H Smith and Cook together are about $13M (dead cap $20.0). Just to note, even with a trade Cook's dead cap is still high.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/10/2023 1:36:40 PM)

I think if Kwesi can get to about $50 million in 2023 dead cap it will be a successful offseason. That figure obviously doesn't include Cousins' $48.8 dead cap hit.

19 now
20 with Harrison and Cook
2 with Hicks and Ham
3 with Za
7 with Tomlinson

They will probably keep Hunter another year.

Kevin Seifert@SeifertESPN
The Vikings have waived CB Cameron Dantzler. We haven't talked too much about his pending departure, but the writing was on the wall after he gave up 2 TDs in Week 14 vs. Lions. Hardly played after that. He'll clear $2.74 million from the salary cap.

I wonder if our first pick will be spent on a cb?

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/10/2023 2:09:05 PM)

Didn't see that. Dantlzer and Evans both had some personal stuff going on late last season.

CB better be a deep draft position!

I think there's several good cb's in this draft.

David Levine -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/10/2023 2:13:00 PM)

The release of Dantzler leaves the Vikings with only four cornerbacks under contract:

• Andrew Booth Jr.
• Akayleb Evans
• Tay Gowan
• Kalon Barnes

Kris Boyd, Patrick Peterson, Duke Shelley, and Chandon Sullivan remain free agents. For a team has invested so much draft capital into the position in recent years, it’s disheartening that they may have to go back to the well sooner rather than later.

Too bad to see AT go - great player and story - but the team has to move on.

I would also like to see them move on from Harry, Cook, Hicks, Z. Harry was my fav of the group and has been a personal favorite on the team for years, but the production doesn't match the compensation any longer.

harrison smith has been my favorite viking for several years...word is; he's willing to take a pay cut - can they come to an agreement? - we shall soon see....

Doogie reported that he had a source at noon today tell him that it looked likely that he'd be cut, but talks were ongoing.

Wow, wonder what was up with that dude. Showed signs that he might be a good player but obviously had some mental/maturity issues with coaches.

In the 2nd round after we trade out of the 1st.

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/10/2023 2:41:37 PM)

Kwesi not messing around. I wonder if he had to battle the Wilfs to not try and run it back?

Daniel Lee Young -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/10/2023 3:14:37 PM)

I think the Wilfs eyes were opened when they finnaly gave up on Zim/ Spielman..

That “old school” shit don’t cut it in todays NFL.

THE cherry on top was Donatello.. beating the giants, only to have them come into their shiny new building/ cash cow/ temple and make Donatello and his defense look like idiots on national TV.

No more Mr Nice Guy..

No more almost..

I’m so sick of the “Kirk Cousins can do it if…..”. Bullshit.

This team wins DESPITE being handicapped by his mediocrity and that is a fact.

I thought Evans had at least 2 concussions so they wouldn't let him the last few games.

I think Dantzler has shown more than Booth.

Well...yeah.

Booth has played 105 career defensive snaps. That's about 1.5 games for a starter.

Dantzler has 1792.

[8D]

I had a really good feeling about this one....2 coaching staffs had issues with the same guy. 200k dead cap; over 2 million in savings.

May signal former Miami DBs coming, Pitt DB Bush, or Shelley re-signing.

Im pretty sure no one has said that around here for quite awhile.

Are you confusing us with your Reddit and Twitter friends?

The Bears just became a longtime NFC North favorite.

Daniel Lee Young -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/10/2023 5:05:58 PM)

Not a bad haul for that pick..

They are being aggressive..

We are in cap hell..

Big Justin Fields fan?

No kidding. They are (were) picking #1 for a reason.

They are about to become pundit favorites for all those post-draft grade 'reports'.

So there's that.

Also from Luke Inman:

Not included here is the 2500 rushing YDs and 30TDs tho. Half of what made DC so fun was his legs. Ain't getting that w Kirk.

Didn't miss the fumbles and sacks, though, did they?

If I recall correctly, he led the league in fumble RECOVERIES a couple seasons. [8D]

i really find this surprising - there were so many other places he could have gone to lower the cap - we are not deep enough at cb to lose dantzler....
