We picked Mekhi Blackmon a CB with the last pick of the third. If you trust the draft boards there were many other more highly rated CBs available.

I don't trust the draft boards or the million experts we have out there. We make a pick, people say there are x amount of people rated ahead of this guy! Maybe we'd be better off doing auto draft, huh?

I like the good things I'm reading. Too bad we don't have the Duke to work opp. of him. Two little guys making our D bad ass! ;)

And it would be dirt cheap onsidering what Shelly signed for.

Shelly, to me and what he signed for, is the biggest head shaker about this current group

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (4/29/2023 8:38:56 AM)

Maybe Shelly and Flores didn't get along ?

Phil Riewer -> RE: General Vikes Talk (4/29/2023 9:09:52 AM)

I think it is simpler than that. They have 2 cbs drafted high in last years draft. 1 high paid FA. 1 2023 draft pick and probably another.

DTR is still available.

They like him and the Stanford QB. I think the Purdue QB would be a good pick too.

This is my first "war room" vid Ive seen this year. Fun.

1 cb drafted high last year that didn't hardly play at all. Shelley not resigned before FA Murphy or 2023 draft pick.

But it is simple ... makes no sense at all without some non-public personality/ contract demand factor in background.

Tom Sykes -> RE: General Vikes Talk (4/29/2023 11:06:49 AM)

Albert Breer@AlbertBreer

The Vikings will listen on Dalvin Cook and Za'Darius Smith. The problem is both will require contract adjustments to be traded. Revised deals have to sit a day before they're traded. So it'd be '24 picks for them.

Didn't know that ... would love to unload Cook for something next year ... just don't see it.

Tom Sykes -> RE: General Vikes Talk (4/29/2023 11:20:45 AM)

Be interesting to see how these trade-up CBs (Bennett, Ringo) do compared to our trade-back prospect

Hope Flores had beefier input than last year's evaluators.

So they draft another after your post. It is simple. Shelley looked good not great on a 31st ranked defense as a waiver pick up. Aiming higher.

Its not even about Shelley. Its about your fierce commitment to a double-standard … in essence, you’re the Duke Shelley of cutting players slack if they fit your argument.

Yes ... they have to fit the puzzle, its not simply 10-yard split times. OOPS.

Double standard? You are the one saying we don’t or can’t have a replacement for him in he middle of a draft in an early part of the offseason.

Phil Riewer -> RE: General Vikes Talk (4/29/2023 3:11:38 PM)

I think many watch the draft to just bitch. I have family members doing the same.

Typical. I have more hope than you and I side with management? [&o] Why even post or watch the draft if all you do afterwards is attack other posters, Kwesi, and players you have zero idea about.

I didn’t say that at all, I even posted a prospect profile of a guy that is a Shelley clone. As well as other day 3 CB prospects I liked.

Its a shame we didn’t resign him and still drafted who we drafted.

Phil Riewer -> RE: General Vikes Talk (4/29/2023 3:24:34 PM)

I liked Shelley and mentioned I ate crow on him. What do you do then? I move forward faster than others I guess. Some are still holding on to Case Keenum.

Things are looking great. And fixed so fast oh my...[sm=doom.gif]

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (5/4/2023 7:45:31 AM)

Been waiting for days to change my sig after coming to appreciate the draft more but in the waiting there was Kwesi saying he wasn't opposed to extending Cousins. He's going to be Cousins' bitch. Talks a big game but can't put it together for a brand new franchise QB.

So the sig stays.

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (5/4/2023 7:46:51 AM)

The threads have normalized. Was looking sparse there for a minute. [&:]

So you think the way the team stood after last year that the focus shouldn't have been on defense? There wasn't another offseason restructure which seems Kwesi is standing pat which is what many posters wanted (if I remember correctly).

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (5/4/2023 8:07:20 AM)

Cousins is getting extended. Bank on it.

Toby Stumbo -> RE: General Vikes Talk (5/4/2023 8:08:38 AM)

Sorry about the downtime guys, I was oblivious to it. Gin lock this thread and make a fresh one.
