That fake punt tho, right?!!!

[sm=party0023.gif]

I swear I'd had no problem taking a bet that we'd have see one early but that it would be successful too.

Good thing Cousins wasn't the punter. He would have checked down.

The Vikings and Pukers will both win at least 11 games, one will win 12 to win the division.

Brad, I shouldn't say mask Kirk's flaws, but I think KOC can put in enough nicely designed plays to have the offense scoring a lot of points.

The Vikings should be very good all season at home, they might win ALL of their home games, that would get 9 wins, and then they would only need to win ONE of the road games to get to 11 wins.

I think it's more likely the Vikings lose one of their home games, so they will need to win 2 games on the road to get to 11 wins, which will be a challenge, unless Donatell can get more aggressive with the defense.

I see at least 3-4 potential losses at home. The Cardinals will have Deandre Hopkins back. The Cowboys will have Dak Prescott back. The Patriots will have Mac Jones back. Jonathan Taylor could have 300 yards rushing against our soft run defense. The Jets and Giants are better teams than they were 12 months ago. If they play like they did yesterday, they could go winless.

From what I saw yesterday, I'd say we have a better chance at going winless than undefeated at home the rest of the season.

Definitely agree. I'm hoping some of it was the whole London thing. Wish they'd stop playing those games. The Brits don't give a crap about our football.

You mean score 28 points with a dropped TD pass when in your words our qb played horrible? I like our chances against anyone....

David F. -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/3/2022 11:08:06 AM)

It's strange territory for me as a fan. Our weaknesses are exposed yet we're still winning. It's not unreasonable to think we will in fact, shore up some or all of those weaknesses as the season progresses. Our defense is frustrating yet we've given up 7, 24, 24, and 25 points and that's not abhorrent. Our offensive line has been, dare I say, serviceable. We just need Kirk to turn it up a notch or two. He doesn't need to be all world but his accuracy needs to improve and he needs to move in the pocket a bit smarter.

If these things happen we could compete for the division this year. I'm even more excited as the team moves forward into 2023 and 2024. O'Connell seems legit so far. I look forward to seeing what he does.

We got a lot of fortunate turnovers and calls. Not complaining by any means it was just weird. Let's clean up the stalled drives.

Through four games, I still have yet to see one where we have consistent running lanes.

Very true. Weird seeing O'Neal play that poorly too. Cam is a monster too though.

3-1 is misleading as we squeaked out wins against a couple of crap teams and GB with Rodgers thinking he was still on the Joe Rogan set bitching about COVID rules.

As posted here, we are getting abused on both sides of the LOS. I think that is the primary issue. Having a relatively immobile QB (who BTW is no spring chicken) exasperates part of that. Actually, the pass D is a big issue too. And...

I saw how mobile he looked in the pocket against GB. He hasn't done as well the last 3 games. Problem isn't Kirk being athletic; he has to play more athletic.

I have seen videos of him playing golf (he is a scratch golfer) and playing basketball.

If you are using the doormat Saints - without Thomas and Kamara at that - as a barometer for liking our "chances against anyone", well... it'just bolsters my M.O. to think the opposite of you.

He is not mobile, period. And he won't get any better. At 34, he will get less mobile.

Actually, the word mobile shouldn't even be associated with KC. To rephrase, at 34 he will get even more statuesque.

Thomas and Kamara haven't looked like themselves all year. Olave and Landry might both be better than Thomas now at WR.

Also Dalton isn't that big of drop off from Winston.

I have seen video of Kirk playing bball.....he is more athletic than he shows. He isn't Mahomes by any means.

He should be able to move around like Stafford and Brady.

Does Jon Daly play tennis in the offseason?

Brady has FAR more pocket presence. He keeps things alive doing a dance in a 4 x 4 box then throws decisive strikes.

Cousins either goes into turtle mode or stays alive to throw it out of bounds. Granted, he hangs in there during an unencumbered drop and makes great throws before getting hit, but that's a different thing.

Plus Brady is around 55 years old.

Gezuz Tom,

For once can we win the division outright by sweeping the division opposition?

The Puke have won 10 or more games in 9 of the last 12 seasons.

So yea, by gift, sway, or luck and talent, there needs to be at least 10 wins, to win this division, and I want it to be The Vikings.

It going to be difficult to get the #2 seed in our conference.

We practically Have to beat the Cardinals and Cowboys to have a shot at the #2 seed, because the Eagles are looking pretty damn good as the #1 seed in the NFC.

The only thing helping us is the east has to play out their round robin amongst themselves, but If Philadelphia sweeps the East, they are a lock for Seeding in the top 2 at least.

We have yet to play an AFC team, and we have Five teams in the AFC on our Schedule, Bills, Dolphins, Jets, Patriots, and Colts.

We are “lucky” that we have Detroit and Chicago in our division, but needing to come from behind against the lions, at home, was not a good look.

Backing into the playoffs with a near .500 record is how you see this season going?

This team is a hot mess on defense, and the Aints, beat up as they were, exposed our offensive line, yet again, as the forever and always, weakness that can shut us down.

If KC keeps getting hit, his current happy feet throws, duck and chuck, will get worse.

I don’t know what football by the Vikings you are watching, but what I’m seeing is a team, not ready for prime time, or playoffs.

It’s year one in the new regime, and I am happy to be at 3-1, but TBH, settling for Field Goals, in the redZone, will not win a wild Card game with this defense.

I'm not sure if you are misreading my post or I am misreading yours ... by 'gzuz Tom' you seem to be disputing my position but I'm not sure how far apart they are.

We are playing like a .500 8-9 win team. Beating a half-ass GB, beating the Saints and Lions by one good play each ... sorry ... the 3-1 just feels dirty to me.

But its 3-1. AND, its possible to improve in a long season.

I concede that I'm not impressed with the NFC overall and that I'm especially down on our division. Right now, four games in.

The Eagles beat the Lions by only three points… all of the lions losses this year have been by Three or four points.

I am encouraged by some things, I am discouraged with some things.

I definitely like not knowing, with Zim and Co, I knew it was bad

This group could be bad, but I don't know yet
