Theyve been beat twice, Todd. This isn't the 85 Bears.

We have a shot!

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/7/2022 4:39:18 PM)

In the past, when I saw the Packers with a good team on their schedule, I was hoping that good team had a bye before playing the Pack (the Bills did this season), or were coming off a loss (thinking a strong team isn't likely to lose 2 in a row).

Unfortunately, the Vikings are playing the Bills coming off a loss, in their stadium.

A Vikings' win would be quite amazing.

Yeah they are nowhere close to great ... they have however beat some good to decent teams (chiefs, titans, ravens) which we haven't.

But the way Allen has looked lately ... even during some wins he's had some great plays mixed in with the younger low-accuracy Allen ... we absolutely have a shot.

I think if he doesn't play it blows a chance for us to earn some legitimacy around the league, not that its the most important thing. But enough of the bottom-feeders, we need to start learning how to go toe to toe with playoff contenders. I really hope he plays and plays well, this is a great opportunity.

I like Blingy Kirk much more than Kirk the Quiet Do-Good Leader ... he is having fun off the field embracing his nerdiness ... and is being embraced for it. In spite of where he is statistically, I think he is taking a few more risks than before and loosening up. Before, it was like 'no, of course I shouldn't chance an interception', now there's more 'can I throw it up there where my guy has the best chance to come down with it'. That is a seismic shift.

He's got a long ways to go IMO to be more than just a good arm ... but the environment is obviously changing for the better and he's responding to it (along with the team).

A question im left with about Kirk being on the Manning Cast last night is did he get his 0 coverage question answered off air by Peyton? He didn't get it answered on the air

First of all, I always take pff line grades with a grain of salt. Second, I have a hard time believing Cleveland was that much worse than Ingram. Third, this was a bad game in an otherwise relatively solid season for Cleveland, while it was a continuation of a really bad year for Ingram.

#Vikings snaps

•Hockenson left the field for only six plays (just three after opening drive)
•Season-high DL snaps for Bullard (55%), Lynch (38%) and Tonga (33%) with Tomlinson out.
•Five have played every down in 2022: Peterson, Bynum, O'Neill, Cleveland, Ingram

Kirk's Iron Man streak came to an end when he had to leave for one play.

It ended last season when he couldn't play in Green Bay because of Covid

I'm just talking about this year's streak.

Matt do you think the Vikings have a better chance than the Twins in winning a championship in 22? Just asking for a friend....

I'm going to say the Twins don't have much of a chance in 22.

So, other than just going with bias, what do you think of Nick Olson's opinion of Kirk being outstanding today?

@NickOlsonNFL

Box score won't say it but Cousins was outstanding today.

Great pocket presence under heavy pressure, highly aggressive—both downfield (ADoT over 10 yards) & into tight windows (25% of his throws), pinpoint accuracy & one of the best throws of his career:

link to the pass to JJ on 3rd and 7

https://twitter.com/NickOlsonNFL/status/1589367757606645761?s=20&t=gXkqgSAMbNkIKK8GxK-OSA

Kirk was the opposite of outstanding today. I've never seen more passes completed for negative yardage in a single game.

Look at the drops. The int was a drop by JJ. KJ had a drop and I believe JJ had 2-3.

The int wasn't a drop. St. Juste broke the pass up and the deflection got picked.

I'm not sure I agree with you, Sweens. But it does seem acceptable to pull on the arm of the WR making it pretty much useless in the NFL anymore so maybe I'm wrong

https://twitter.com/3RonJohnson/status/1589339032781484032?s=20&t=r70A9lVZ1ajjF5NK8scz1Q

The interference/arm pull on the TD pass to Cook was even more blatant/obvious, and no call, fortunately Cook made the 1 handed catch.

Worst part about the Samuel TD catch is that he was triple covered and the other two thought Bynum was making the play.

yes, they were clearing the area for bynum to make the play....

Bynum had a clear bead on the ball, and even with the ref laying him out, was still within a couple feet of the ball when he landed.

Bills head coach Sean McDermott said the team is "still evaluating" Josh Allen's elbow injury.
According to ESPN's Chris Mortensen, Allen is being evaluated for damage to his ulnar collateral ligament and related nerves. The Bills' signal-caller is expected to be limited in practice ahead of the team's Week 10 matchup against the Vikings, but McDermott did add that the team hopes to know more about Allen's injury in the next 24 hours. While the injury wasn't enough to force him from Sunday's game against the Jets, Allen's status is officially one to monitor throughout this week, but the team does not appear all too concerned about his injury at this time.

No. The Vikings do not have a chance at winning a championship in 22 unless you're counting the NFC north division championship. I'm hopeful that we win the Super Bowl in February 2023.

Even if you considered winning the Super Bowl in 23 to make you the 22 NFL champions it still doesn't work. The question said winning a championship in 22. You could be the 22 champions, but the championship was still won in 23.

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/9/2022 6:43:39 AM)

It seems that Hunter, Kendricks and even Hicks have been playing better lately, maybe they're adapting to the 3-4 ?

OTOH, they have yet to face a QB like Allen on the road.

I like the way Evans played at CB last week, but will he do as well against a better QB ? They might be missing Dantzler, if he doesn't play, we'll see

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/9/2022 6:45:43 AM)

It felt like during the Washington game, in the 2nd and 3rd quarter, the Vikings didn't run the ball enough, which made it tough on the guards, hence the bad grades.

I think they will need to run the ball a little more to beat Buffalo.

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/9/2022 6:50:45 AM)

Vikings may be adding a recently released safety from the Raiders for depth:

https://heavy.com/sports/minnesota-vikings/jonathan-abram-raiders-cine-bynum-beckham/

And Beckham may be still in the works. I think if they beat Buffalo, OBJ would be off the table. If they come up short, he may be thought of as the missing link.
