ORIGINAL: MDK They can't fire Popkins soon enough I don't know that it's Merry Popkins. You can't expect him to take a pile of chicken manuer and turn it into chicken salad. The lack of hitting is the other side of the same coin for pitching development. The denomination of that coin is that Falvey and Levine suck at their jobs. They went all in on launch angle exit velocity players who strike out a lot. Other than Lewis, they haven't drafted anyone in the first round who even makes much contact. Year 1: Brent Rooker - strike out machine, mega bust. Year 2: Trevor Larnach - can't hit a breaking pitch to save his soul, Pedro Cerrano Year 3: Keoni Cavacao - #13 overall pick, strike out machine. Was a bust in the Gulf Coast League. Matt Wallner: Promising hitting prospect, but still a bit strike out prone. Year 4: Aaron Sabato - If the back to back picks of Cavacao and Sabato didn't convince Falvine that Sean Johnson doesn't know what he is doing, nothing will. Year 5: Twins drafted a pitcher and traded him to get Sonny Gray. Year 6: Brooks Lee - TBD Basically, Edouard Julien looks like the only real prospect in AAA who makes a lot of contact. I repeat, Falvey and Levine suck at their jobs.
