I have decided that Poppins. Pippins, Pippylongstockings. Mary Poppins...whoever the damn hitting coach is needs to be fired.
Arraez has been flirting with .400 all year so far. He didn't hit better than .316 last years. so to think he would be flirting with .400 here is a joke.
It just looks to me like we really struggle to score runs without hitting a home run. Further it looks like half this roster is trying to hit the ball a country mile instead of just making good contact and letting the home runs come naturally.
We put guys on all the time in scoring position and can't get them home. Other teams know we are just swinging for the fences and are pitching us accordingly.
That is why we pop out so much. that is why we strike out so much.
Buxton is one of the worst perpetrators of the home run thing. He looks like he is trying to hit every damn ball 500 feet. With his speed he should be trying to shoot gaps and let out triples and shit.
Why do hitters seem to do better at AAA or when they go eleswhere? BECAUSE OUR HITTING COACH SUCKS DONKEY NUTS.
Rocco makes dumbfuckery seem smart. Pulling hot hitters for pinch hitters frequently. Pulling pitchers pitching well too soon and Pitchers who aren't too late. Why on Gods green Earth anyone thought it would be a good idea to extend this worthless putz is beyond me.
Analytics can be helpful, but it should never be the end all be all.
If a lefty is coming up and your left handed batter is raking you DON'T have to pinch hit for him. The batter can't get better at hitting lefthanders if you never let him hit against lefthanders.
Giving at Bats consistantly to a guy that clearly sucks should be a fireable offense. Kepler has lost it. It's time to cut bait and let him go. Bring up Larnach for good. or give Wallner another shot. Either way Kepler is done, he's not a major leaguer anymore.
Buxton would be far more valuable as a CF with Taylor moving to left/right or swap them and Buxton can play rf/lf I don't care but most balls wouldn't see the ground that way. Enough of this DH only shit. You are neutering one of the best defensive players in the game. This is just stupid. You can't play afraid. You can't play scared. For the love of God put Buxton on the field.
I know the Twins wont see it this way because we are leading the shittiest of divisions but we have no shot of going past the first round of the playoffs even if we hold on to win this crappiest of divisions. Maybe we should blow it up a little. Trade the disgruntled Gray, Let Maeda pitch the rest of the year come hell or high water. Get rid of veteran dead weight like Gallo, and Kepler. And if you are going to refuse to play an elite defensive player in the field then trade him too. Enough of this bullshit.
