ORIGINAL: twinsfan How slow do you have to be to not get an inside the park grand slam on that, Solano? Solano hits a bases clearing triple to salt the game away and you're bitching. You faux fans make me sick. You call that bitching? It was an observation. As soon as the guy misplayed it and I saw it slowly rolling to the wall, I jumped up yelling "that's gonna be an inside-the-park grand slam!" I saw an error, not a triple If he "misplayed it," would it not be an error instead of a triple? However, after thinking about it, if he had to make the play he made to get an out, save run(s), even though in the process it cost them runs, would it be an error? I still see an error. You're wrong. Maybe. I'm not surprised they didn't give it an error. I'm aware, or believe, that in today's game they are much more lenient than they used to be in the past. To me it's a single, E7 for runners advancing due to unsuccessfully fielding a short hop and keeping runners from advancing. However, I saw the play one time live and it followed the ball. An argument could be made that if he picks that clean he has a decent shot at the runner from 2nd, keeping it to one score and possibly an out. That would be similar to diving for a ball and not coming up with it. But I don't know what was going on with that runner. The way they call errors interest me and I'm usually up for a debate about it. But not a fight. Here's what I found on my first time ever looking up, "What's a fielding error in the MLB?": A fielder is given an error if, in the judgment of the official scorer, he fails to convert an out on a play that an average fielder should have made. Fielders can also be given errors if they make a poor play that allows one or more runners to advance on the bases. A batter does not necessarily need to reach base for a fielder to be given an error. If he drops a foul ball that extends an at-bat, that fielder can also be assessed an error. https://www.mlb.com/glossary/standard-stats/error#:~:text=A%20fielder%20is%20given%20an,to%20advance%20on%20the%20bases.
