Dummies here don't realize that no CB's were taken from 87 to 102. Complain about the pick if you want, but the trade got us two more picks in the draft so stop with the hyperbole.

You must be talking to yourself out loud. Carry on hyperbolic dummy.

We'll have one impactful guy when it's all said and done. Until he's sitting out or demanding a trade after 3 years...

We are a long way from knowing what we have but ...

if getting one impactful starter, another decent starter and one-two decent backups are the gold standard for a good draft ...

(this is Tom's completely arbitrary rating system)

we are well on our way IMO (with Hock and Addison***). We'll see how the rest unfolds.

It would not surprise me to see us trade back in the 4th and use a 6th or whatever to recoup the 3rd rd pick next year included in the Hock trade.

***if Addison becomes a decent starter.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lA6J1KCPU0k

Although I think its premature for KOC to anoint him the starter already ... IMO open competition works better ... for both Addison and Osborn ...

I think Addison could not have walked into a much better situation to succeed.

He looks a little Duke Shelley’ish. Maybe we should’ve kept Duke and drafted DL.

Good point

Agree on that.

Todd M -> RE: 2023 NFL Draft (4/29/2023 4:44:49 AM)

With as many picks left as we started with its time for Kwesi to go get paid.

Needs to unearth some diamonds in the rough.

I'm good with this draft so far...

all the grown men crying over the GM not conforming to their hopes is just weird

We got maybe the best WR in the draft...and it was definitely a need spot, despite probably having more pressing need on D

We got Hock for the 2nd rounder

And we got a sneaky good, under the radar cb , plus a couple extra picks

characterize it how you will, but, imo, so far so good, based on where we were picking and the number of picks we had

You seem to think our most glaring need was a WR?

Good god..

That’s all I need to see to know that you do not understand how bad this team defense was and may continue to be..

Teams run the ball at will against the inappropriate personnel we had for a 3-4.

The middle of the field was open for runs and passes all day long..

We have ZERO linebackers that fit that scheme.

Our best cornerback was Duke Shelly.. gone..

Our quarterback threw a 3 yard pass on 4th and 8 AT HOME IN THE PLAYOFFS WITH THE “13 win” season and a playoff game on the line..

Yea, another WR was definitely the tippy top need in a draft with so much talent available at positions we actually needed..

Jesus Christ.

The Happy Norseman -> RE: 2023 NFL Draft (4/29/2023 6:38:22 AM)

I hope Blackmon pans out and I’m guessing Flores had a lot to do with the Vikings moving up to get him. However, if he is a bust it’s time for the Vikings to fire their scouts who analyze DB’s. How many years can the Vikings throw away picks on DB’s before changes are made?

Every year this comes up.

There could be 20 compensatory picks in a round and we trade into the last one. Come hell or highwater, by god we stayed in the round even though value wise we ended up with the 20th pick in the NEXT round.

What matters is how many slots you move, the round is pretty much irrelevant when the comp picks start. However, the NFL calls it the 3rd, so it's the 3rd.

It matters when teams are using value charts, which they do. Unlike you, they likely factor in adjusting them especially as the pool of comp picks become an ever larger factor as the rounds go on. It's stuff over your head.

KMA

Yep, you have nothing. Just don't trying assigning value to any trade from the 3rd round on and you'll be ok.

Not sure what you're getting at. Every pick has a value, the round is irrelevant. That being said, it doesn't appear that Queasy got good value here.

He gave up a pick worth 155 and received 92+24.6+1.1= 117.7

https://www.drafttek.com/NFL-Trade-Value-Chart.asp

Right, I don't get trade chart value, right... Like I said before the round doesn't matter as much as the # of spots you move, but it's still the 3rd round.

Don't know how simple I can make it: value wise, like when you access a value chart w/o comp picks to see the points on a trade, you'd have to look at the 7th spot in the 4th to see how much it's worth.

By not doing that, every pick does NOT have a value. The comp picks have to be factored in. Everything slips backwards.

The chart you reference, which I use and have posted here twice the last couple of days, does factor the comp picks in. Many don't. If they don't it's a 4th, point wise.

I don't know how simple I can make it. The round doesn't matter in the value it's the # of slots between picks. However when talking about which round a pick is in, I will defer to the terminology used by the GD league that runs the draft, not your interpretation of what you think it should be.

100% agreement. So now you probably need to change your mind since I agree with you.

marty -> RE: 2023 NFL Draft (4/29/2023 7:09:19 AM)

Happy Norsemen, the Vikings didn't move UP to draft Blackmon, they moved DOWN and drafted him.

marty -> RE: 2023 NFL Draft (4/29/2023 7:09:37 AM)

Will the Vikings keep the USC thing going with RB Travis Dye USC in round 4 ?

marty -> RE: 2023 NFL Draft (4/29/2023 7:13:19 AM)

There is also:

IOL Andrew Vorhees USC
IOL Brett Neilon USC

marty -> RE: 2023 NFL Draft (4/29/2023 7:13:50 AM)

QB DTR is still available.

Todd M -> RE: 2023 NFL Draft (4/29/2023 7:58:27 AM)

I'll give Kwesi a clean slate if he drafts my guy. QB Jake Haener.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: 2023 NFL Draft (4/29/2023 7:59:37 AM)

Regarding trading up, Kwesi said there were no inefficiencies in the market. [&:]

Good one. I was going to say Duke wasn't tall enough but Blackman is?

Bill Johanesen -> RE: 2023 NFL Draft (4/29/2023 8:17:53 AM)

The average NFL CB is just under 6 feet. Blackmon is 5' 11". I hope both draftees put on some weight w/o sacrificing quickness.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: 2023 NFL Draft (4/29/2023 8:25:42 AM)

Day 3, highlighted by having two 5th rounders. Expecting some injured guys, maybe an oddball, definitely a couple of boom/bust types. On defense. Maybe a 375 lb. guard.

marty -> RE: 2023 NFL Draft (4/29/2023 8:37:39 AM)

Maybe 'gamble' on some higher ranked cornerbacks ?

marty -> RE: 2023 NFL Draft (4/29/2023 8:47:13 AM)

CB Darius Rush looks good in highlights. Did he have injury or off the field concerns ?

joejitsu -> RE: 2023 NFL Draft (4/29/2023 8:52:52 AM)

To’oto’o and Vorhees are still available, I think. They are players we could use.

I think the issue with Rush is that he’s a corner/safety hybrid. Some teams wouldn’t know where to play him at.

I'm surprised thebigo isn't promoting To'oto'o.
