What ever happened to the surrounding area that was supposed to be developed to enhance the fan experience? It's next to nothing, more like a bunch of temporary stuff you'd see at a traveling circus. The area behind the stadium is a dirt covered dumping ground.

I thought the Wilfs were going to buy it up and develop it; but maybe that was the other site in Arden Hills....

I guess I just need a VIP press pass, enter and leave through the players’ secret door, have all access to every area, and then I can rank it #2 also.

Genuinely curious... have you been to stadiums that prefer?

I've only been to a handful... so I don't really have much to compare.
I find U.S. Bank to be nice but maybe not spectacular.
I don't really feel like concourses or bathrooms or even traffic are much of an issue but I have heard those complaints by other people.

I've also only been to a handful of others. I went to Denver in 2015. They have tons of tailgating parking and it had a "festival" feel. The stadium had easy entry and the concourses were very wide. I never felt crowded. Concessions were affordable and the lines were short. Bathrooms weren't an issue at all.

In 2019 I went to Kansas City. For an old stadium everything felt awesome. There's an ocean of open parking all around the stadium. The stadium itself sits in a wide open area not near downtown or crowded city environment. Concessions were cheap and entry/exit was easy. Bathrooms were not an issue.

In 2021 we went to Baltimore. Their stadium is wedged into their downtown just like US Bank is - so that was a negative. We parked in a parking garage and then walked about five blocks to the stadium area. Their stadium abuts Camden Yards so it was cool to poke around there for a bit. They have the 'Raven Walk' which is a strip of land about a couple hundred yards long and 40 or 50 yards wide. Threre are food trucks and concessions lining both sides. It's sort of fun but not like a tailgate atmosphere. It reminds me of the park and plaza area the Vikes have. I did manage to get a crab poboy for $18 which is 1000% better than the school cafeteria cheeseburger US Bank will serve you for $14.

Last year we went to Buffalo. They're going to start building a new stadium for them (maybe they already started). It's going to be on the same grounds. This stadium is also out in a remote area. There is an ocean of open tailgating. We parked fairly far away and walked toward the stadium. We stopped at various groups of people and chatted with the locals. It felt a lot like our experience in Denver. Once again - easy entry, short lines, bathrooms were not an issue. EXTREMELY friendly home fans. In fact - they taught me a lot about how to treat opposing fans and make them feel welcome. The concessions had people that knew what they were doing and that was a nice touch. US BANK concession employees are always on their first day, furthering the problem of the slow, long lines.

In a few weeks I'll give Green Bay a try and then in December it will be Las Vegas. I'm looking forward to these games and can't wait to see what they're all about.

A dirty little secret about going to Green Bay is that their tickets are VERY affordable. They sell out every game and have a waiting list for season tickets that's eight miles long - but the resale market is soft. My guess is that's because they're in the middle of nowhere and there's not a huge local population to drive up the demand.

They will soon. just waiting on MLBs vote to allow the A's to relocate.

Then they will break ground and begin building post haste

Probably just a matter of time.

But the NBA only has 30 teams and which market gets to lose their team...
Plus the NBA also wants to get back to Seattle... So who else loses their team?

Baseball is probably going to expand in the next decade so the A's moving there just moves LV up in getting a team. it was a foregoen conclusion they would get one eventually. Now Baseball can concentrate on getting into Nashville. and maybe back into Montreal.

Expand to 32...Vancouver and Seattle.

Baseball. I clearly was talking about baseball. Nashville is a priority, and they had a team in Montreal for decades called the Expos. They moved to Washington DC and are now the Nationals.

Vancouver has a Hockey team and HAD a Basketball team the Grizzlies that moved to Memphis. I doubt they are in any hurry to put a team back in Vancouver. Vancouver has NEVER had a major league baseball team.

ronhextall -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/11/2023 11:49:00 AM)

Nashville is a no-brainer for baseball, it's basically "Vegas of the Southeast". Rays should have been trying to more there for decades. Instead the are building a dinky new stadium next to the current one, an area that is said to be the prime reason nobody goes there now.

Bank food is pretty low quality.

Nobody loses a team.

The League will expand to Vegas and Seattle very soon. And it will be a unanimous vote since the other owners make way more money off expansion fees than relocation.

One place I will agree with Zimmer is that PFF rankings for O-Linemen are basically garbage.

Unless they know the responsibility for each player on each play, all they're doing is looking at the end result and not how they got there. A guy who allowed a "pressure" may have been doing the exact job asked of him because that may not have been his man to block.

Unless you are all straight up man blocking the guy across from you on every snap, its all noise, very little signal.

I find that a bit of a cop out.
Yeah, you don't know what they are doing EVERY SINGLE play.
But on A LOT of plays... you see a guy get locked up or double teaming a defender.
Pretty easy to figure out those.
When Bradbury gets knocked on his ass... guessing that is not his assignment.
For guys who spend tons of time watching film on OL... probably they can accurately guess assignments more often than not.

Far from perfect, but much better than "basically garbage".

So better than garbage, but closer to useless than helpful.

Weird, I was in the Casino Suite area and the food was amazing (at the Bank) as was the entertainment. For Baseball I try to pregame at Cowboy Jacks and then it is just beverages.

"which is 1000% better than the school cafeteria cheeseburger US Bank will serve you for $14"

That is one thing I can agree on 100%.
I'm willing to pay outrageous stadium prices for food... BUT AT LEAST MAKE IT EDIBLE!
Bank food is pretty low quality.

Not me. Eat before i go in, bring some peanuts or something, and limit the liquid intake.
Standard stuff

Weird, I was in the Casino Suite area and the food was amazing (at the Bank) as was the entertainment. For Baseball I try to pregame at Cowboy Jacks and then it is just beverages.

I'll have to check that out... my oldest and I are going to try to catch a game here in the next month.

They always have a Viking there to take a pic; Dave Dixon was there for the NYG game last year and it is right by the horn; Special K was doing it and we got some pics of him too.

I guess that's what you get for 5 billion dollars.

Pretty bad when I find stadium food rankings more interesting than my football team.

At least Cousins is honest [&:][&:] https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/38634222/vikings-kirk-cousins-says-trade-talk-not-worth-my

"Ignorance is bliss," Cousins said, "and I'm just really ignorant. I don't really have access to a whole lot...

"... I really don't know what's going on. I've been insulated at times to the point of being naive and a little stupid...
