Stats don't equal points. Points help get wins. Wins > stats.

We needed a defensive score to beat the worst team in the league (Carolina) and the Bears after we knocked out their starting QB. An average QB that spikes the ball near the goal line with time running out gets a win vs the Chargers. With Cousins 20.13 points per game, 4-4. With a pile of crap-ups: 19.86 points per game, 3-4.

Exactly. The Phil type butt hurts don't dare look into such things in their never-ending defense.

The great thing is we can't afford FA to be KFC.

You know that points wasn't the reason we lost:
Plays and TOP---both were 65% Lions. Points don't matter when you throw 4 INTs and don't take care of the ball.

If you watched the game you could see that Detroit wanted the ball first to wear down our defense (which it did). Their QB didn't throw for many stats but he found the open guy sometimes in the third read and changed the running play and line protection.

Feel free to stick with the PPG theory of offense. [;)]

It actually was a well coached game by KOC...Mullins didn't see the wide open Powell on the last play he threw for an INT to JJ. To be in a game where you can't run, your qb had 4 ints, lost his #2 and #3 weapons, and lost his #3 CB, #2 DE/OLB, and still could have pulled the game out if he would have thrown to Powell.

From the land of KFCStan
Comes a strange breed of fan

They back a loser quarterback
Then complain of getting flack

Pay him more millions
Or even gazillions

They fail to see the insanity
Of rewarding mediocrity

He'll lead us to the promised land!
Good thing Kwesi said Go Pound Sand!

Oh yeah, they ran the ball for over 140 yards you mean...something our offense hasn't had all season either?

Or was it the 411 yards 2 TDs, 4 INTS?

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/26/2023 1:52:34 PM)

Kwesi season one:
Draft trading fool
Extend Cousins

Kwesi season two:
Keep the pick
FU Cousins

The man is learning well!

Just called you out on your BS. That's all. And you had nothing.

Keep posting your jr high butt favry, stans comments.

This isn't really my conversation but just off the top of my head I remember our defense yanking the ball from Imir Smith-Marsette's hands as he was running up the sideline to seal a Bears win over us. Also the Buffalo game we had to score a defensive TD. Obvious one - the biggest comeback in history vs Indy,

EDIT - our first game at home vs Detroit we hit a late long TD pass after Dan Campbell went for it on 4th down when a FG would have sealed the game.

Come on DF. If you're going to try to help Danno, do it with some facts.

We are up 7. Smith Marsette is surrounded by Vikings(at our 40 yard line) and Dantzler rips the ball out of his hands. Is that running up sideline sealing a Bears win?

Indy game: Maybe it's just me, but being the QB in the biggest comeback in league history is a feather in a QB's cap, not a detriment.

I'll give you Buffalo and DET. Josh Allen and Dan Campbell gift wrapped those ones.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/26/2023 1:57:10 PM)

In the 17 game fluke season we played just 7 games in an opponents home stadium.

This year the backup QBs get to deal with an extra away game.

Yeah, go look it up.

I might come around on this fluke thing.

If our 2022 defense ever stopped a team in the 4th quarter, that would be considered a fluke.

Lets ignore the lack of defense, running game in 2022....then in 2023 lets double down and ignore what Kirk did with Addison when JJ was out and once again the lack of a running game.

Let’s ignore the fact that KFC went 4-4 till he mysteriously injured himself making another shit throw…

Wins. Mean nothing…

It the “ potential MVP pace” that matters Uber Alles…

Phil Riewer -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/26/2023 2:24:29 PM)

Common Sense with Kirk:

Rookie WR/Addison:
With Kirk 8 games: 52 Targets/482 yards Y/TGT:9.2 7TDS
w/o Kirk 7 games: 36 Targets/253 yards Y/TGT:7.02 2TDS

Phil Riewer -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/26/2023 2:27:19 PM)

Common Sense with Kirk:

8 Games with Kirk
TDs: 16 Ints:5

7 Games w/o Kirk
TDs: 7 passing; 2 rushing Tds Ints:11

From KFCStan comes the national tribute to Kirk Cousins:

Phil Riewer -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/26/2023 2:32:37 PM)

As feared:

Head Coach Kevin O'Connell announced that T.J. Hockenson suffered a season-ending ACL and MCL injury.

Phil Riewer -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/26/2023 2:34:16 PM)

Also:
D.J. Wonnum tore his quad.

Both going to IR and surgery. "Crushed" for those guys, O'Connell said.

Jordan Addison (ankle) is day-to-day.

Just wrapped up with Kevin O'Connell. He's not ready to name a starting QB for Sunday's game vs. Packers. Indicated all 3 -- Nick Mullens, Jaren Hall and Josh Dobbs -- are under consideration but said he would make a decision before practice prep starts tomorrow.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/26/2023 2:44:41 PM)

So I just re-signed back in and forgot to block the butt hurt poster who is now comparing a starter to, wait for it, 2nd/3rd/4th string QBs. OF COURSE the starters stats should be better! Holy dip shit Batman! And the salary disparity certainly reflects that:

Career earnings:
Cousins: $200+ million
Dobbs+Mullens+Hall: 6.5+5.2+0.28 = $11.8 million

Note to self not to forget to set the IPs upon logging in.

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/26/2023 2:45:15 PM)

Easy prediction. Hall gets the start and wins both against a team fighting for a playoff spot and the other seeding likely.

We miss the playoffs.

Hall gets buried on the depth chart next year and it’s like he didn’t do anything.

Lots of fluke things led to the fluke 11-0 record in one score games. At least we set an NFL record for it! Participation trophies for everyone!

4 INTS is a stat....how many times do teams win with that stat?
TOP is a stat how many times do they win when the other team has the ball 65%?
Plays is a stat; how many times does a team win when the other team runs 2:1 plays?

Yes we almost pulled a fluke victory but the Chicago game, Denver game, etc. that you think we had a chance....what was the TO margins? (I believe that is a stat)...

It was about to 0 after we were 4-4....how has it been since?

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/26/2023 2:52:32 PM)

People you block stay blocked until you unblock them. Nothing to do with logging in and out.

I think Hall is a good choice....I don't think he gets buried if he performs---sucks he had one drive and a concussion. It is going to be tough w/o TJ and Addison may be out as well.
