Here is a good review of the Vikings cap situation.

An 8 and above is have to have and want to build around. How many 8”s and above do we have excluding those headed towards FA wo a contract.

JJ 9
Darrisaw
O’Neil
Pace
Addison

Is that it?

5 if I’m super generous. Kwesi inherited 3 of them.

Probably light on 7’s too but I’m not going there.

How many does your avg team have?

Makes me think we shouldn’t trade one of them but honestly it feels a strong argument could be made for cleaning house. I don’t see how a new GM couldn’t easily beat that in 2 FA and 2 drafts.

Daniel Lee Young -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/20/2024 10:07:42 PM)

JFC..

I want to know who you people think are going to be the best teams in the division and conference playoffs next year, so I can bet heavy against those choices, and move to Belize..

Love with maybe the worst game ending INT as I’ve ever seen.

Ricky J -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/20/2024 10:21:07 PM)

Nice one!

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/20/2024 10:21:29 PM)

NFC was there for the taking this year.

Butt Favrey did it better in 2009…

Almost identical throws..

Love’s ball was ugly ugly. Also we could have still won that game.

There's a point where being a normal masochistic Viking fan turns into something much more sinister and maniacal ...

and that point is wishing we could have made the playoffs with Cousins this season ... "because you never know what can happen".

It's like begging to have your own butt kicked. Monks call it the devotional flogging of oneself.

We are not a good team. Cousins went 1-4 to start the season, with the same porous defense that finished the last three games.

Time to move on from the Spielman Zimmer Cousins era. Please.

Ricky J -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/20/2024 11:30:42 PM)

Everyone has opinions, for sure. Some just like to state'em as facts more than others.

How we might have done will never be known. But no one on this site will ever convince me we didn't have as good a shot as anyone else in the NFC, if only if ....

I'm on record for moving on...

But giving Kirk his due.

He carved up niners and packers defense for wins this year and I think those might be the best 2 teams in the NFC this year.

JT2 -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/21/2024 3:01:44 AM)

Here's a fact, 25 year old Jordan Love, in his first year as a starting QB in the NFL has matched Cousins in playoff wins.

Yes, we beat them and played well. We caught both teams during 3-4 game losing stretches when they weren’t playing like yesterday … but in terms of our season … good games.

And another thing …

‘giving Kirk his due’ … is kind of at the heart of the matter isn’t it?

Some people think he should get another chance, some think he has exhausted those chances.

I hope we dont have to wait until the day before the league year starts to find out. For my part, thats worse than just signing him today, if we’re going to do it.

Make a decision sooner than later. And work on the rest of the team. Either way I think the real important decision or non-decision isn’t going to happen until April.

[*this is pure speculative opinion for those that can’t differentiate]

Ricky J -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/21/2024 8:35:18 AM)

We came this close to having Det, GB & TB to go to the SB

- people will deflect with Kirk this and that, but to me it's more of a Viking thing: took it in the shorts again; this year was the year of the injury

There’s a difference between stating something as certain opinion versus certain fact.

This is an opinion site, yes?

Its sickening to see the Packers patiently groom a young guy into something while we are stuck in a senior living liver & onion time loop.

I’m praying that the Cowboys game was mostly Cowboys collapse and not a glimpse of future ability. Love’s ridiculous INT yesterday gives me a small glimmer of hope.

My flimsy big picture fantasy is that, this season ending run by the Packers will over inflate their expectations for next year - the same way our 13-4 run did for us …

Tough to say how it will work out for them, but they’ve already equaled our success for the last six years. Also notable is that they not only moved on to a young qb they managed to trade Saint Aaron for some picks in the process. Now they’re on their chosen path (who knows how it will work out but there’s already some success) while we sit with nothing but question marks and theoretical MVP awards and excuses.

It would be even more impressive if Cousins won a ROAD playoff game.

He did. It was at New Orleans.

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/21/2024 1:16:08 PM)

Oops, I assumed he probably won a home playoff game.

So Cousins has never won a HOME playoff game ?

Well neither has Love [&:]

Instead of assumptions you could have gone by recent memory…
