Any team that traded for Taylor or even pays him big bucks deserves to suck!

or?

More like AND.

The Colts could theoretically keep him but I'm pretty sure that isn't gonna happen. Who will be the fool?

If there was any doubt Muse would have been poached consider this breaking news from Adam Schefter.

Packers claimed TE Ben Sims on waivers from the Vikings,

I really wanted him on the practice squad...packers must have watched that cardinals game....

So Hall and Aho don't count against the standing 53 roster but do on game day if they are activated?

as a 3rd quarterback, hall counts against the 53, but doesn't count as one of the activated or deactivated players on game day....

top 51 players spotrac has us at $6.8mm under the cap - $2.4mm of reagor's exit included - I think we could get credited if someone picks him up, so far no takers....

Will Ragatz@WillRagatz
In case you missed it, the #Vikings placed Kene Nwangwu on IR this evening, which means he'll miss at least the first four games of the season.

In the meantime, my assumption is Brandon Powell will handle both punt return and kick return duties.

Adeniji was a sixth-round pick in the 2020 draft out of Kansas and was thrown to the deep end of the pool as a rookie, playing 165 snaps at left tackle that year, according to PFF. In 2021, he played all 555 of his snaps at right guard and performed poorly. Last year, he played 156 snaps at right tackle and did not look good there either.

You stick a #1 or #2 corner on KJ and he isn't as effective. Against NYG JJ did more double teamed than Thielen and KJ which is why they drafted Addison.

You can't forget JJ....KJ isn't a true #2. As soon as Thielen slowed down the last 2 years it became obvious.

Burrow has Chase, Higgins, and Boyd.
Allen "" Diggs, Davis
Tua "" Waddle, Hill
Mahomes "" Smith Schuster, MVS and drafted Moore and traded for Toney
Herbert has Allen, Williams, Palmer and now drafted Johnson
Hurts has Smith and traded for Brown
Lamar OBJ, Flowers, and the Bateman
Geno Smith Metcalf, Lockett and they drafted another in the 2nd

You want a good offense; get an actual #2 WR--some drafted a third. Those are the top teams also.

That's a great post and a great point but imo you should have left Mahomes off that list. He has Kelce and a pile of nobody. Mahomes is so damn good he can win with very few weapons.

Smith Schuster, MVS, and Toney are all better than KJ. The 2022 collection wasn't a collection of nobodies.

Odd to hear Phil arguing against a vikings player.

One thing to keep in mind, Osborn is in his third year with two years as the #3 wr behind some entrenched starters.

His cieling may only be as a #3 type … he’s certanly not a flat out burner (4.48 at combine), or big bodied, or look like a quick precision instrument like Addison has looked in very brief glimpses …

Osborn in two seasons of playing has improved, has made some clutch catches and to my eye, is pretty all around rugged / dependable both short and long. I’ll be interested to see if he continues to step up or simply gets passed over by the new kid on the block.

Ricky J -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/31/2023 10:27:45 AM)

Kirk Cousins' EPA/play for the first 8 weeks last year was .054. After the Hockenson trade, it doubled to .10.

The #Vikings offense went from the 15th-best EPA/dropback to 10th-best.

Hard to overstate the value of a pro bowl secondary option after Justin Jefferson.

Everything seems a go. Not sure when JJ will get done. But other than that - outside of injury replacement - we seem to be pretty set.

Big tweaks seem to be Flores on D and Mattison / Oliver / run game refocus on O.

O’Connel in year 2 vs the bounce of the ball in year one will be one critical factor.

I read somewhere we stand # 4 or 5 in least change in starters from last year. With a much more difficult schedule in theory.

I expect us to be better, definitely. Just not sure how much.

Its going to be another up and down wild ride, I think.

Addison is not a pro bowl second option yet for godsakes.

Hockensen’s effect on Cousin’s EPA has so many variables, not the least of which is improvement at TE above all else. Neither here nor there.

I’m looking forward to the season. I hope both Addison and Osborn ball out.

I am only referring to Addison because some are questioning why we drafted him; they drafted Addison because KJ is good but not great or elite---and Jailor, Reagor aren't there either.

They saw the benefit TJ made; hoping that Addison adds more.

I'm disappointed to hear this. The wording of one of the highest paid in the league I presume means 15M a season or more. Kwesi seems to be doing the classic Rick Spielman overpay. If the contract comes in at 13M or less my apologies to Kwesi. In that case it's an OK not good signing.

Well now we won't be able to pay that QB that you think is mediocre. He's as good as gone. So after this season JJ and Hock will be the highest paid WR and TE in the league with nobody to throw them the football. Good luck to JJ and Hock with Jaren Hall as their QB.

Good summation (by 'we seem to be pretty set' I assume set with what we have).

Agree about the Mattison/Oliver aspect to the run game. We had incredible strings of 3 and outs where we couldn't pick up a few yards. Granted the OL had something to do with that, but I hope Mattison continues to plow north-south as opposed to Cook's hesitation dances. And Oliver should be a big part of the run game.

#4-5 in least changes is surprising, guess the stability on offense more than balances out the changes on defense. Compared to the beginning of last year (which that metric may not be based on):
- Tonga
- Lowry
- Davenport
- Asamoah/Pace
- Murphy
- Evans
- Possibly Blackmon
