Dodgers payroll for 2025 at present...375 Million.

The ENTIRE AL CENTRAL 544 million spread across 5 teams

Salary cap is essential.

They need to stop this disparity.

Completely out of control in LA.

https://www.yardbarker.com/mlb/articles/dodgers_reportedly_adding_another_star_to_bullpen/s1_13132_41614024

Now the Dodgers are signing Kirby Yates too.

I have decided that besides the Twins winning, nothing will please me more than watching the Dodgers fall flat on their faces.

Even the hated Yankees are better liked now.

We've basically done nothing since signing Carlos Correa.

Good article here.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: Twins off-season (1/21/2025 3:52:19 PM)

The cheap ass owners need to step up. Never heard of Kirby Yates. He better be good.

The Dodgers need two teams worth of pitchers because they get injured so often. Maybe something wrong in the training regimen.

Edit - the guy will be 38 by the opener. Triple digit walks. Ugh.

$110 million on average? They must be owned by the estate of Red McCombs. Terrible.

Bad for baseball. Those owners should have been properly vetted.

Pitched 62 Innings last year:

Kirby Yates in 2024 among relievers with 60+ IP:

1.17 ERA (2nd)
.111 AVG (1st)
35.9 K% (6th)
0.83 WHIP (8th)
24.1 K-BB% (12th)

3-5 posts about one minor RP move and a bigger RP by the LAD dwarfs the Twins offseason.....

I'm all for a salary floor!

What sucks are the best of 5 playoff series. 162 games for that? But, it's a product of letting more teams into the playoffs, ergo $. You almost have to have 3 aces protected in a bubble until Sep/Oct.

Worse than best of 5 playoff series? Best of 3.

What about what they used to have, the 1 game wildcard playoff?

I loved that.

Ok an Athletic rumor that Vazquez and a package to SD for Cease. Now that would help.

There must be a hell of a lot more to the package. I can't imagine Vazquez as the centerpiece of a deal for Dylan Cease.

Now on TwinsDaily and MNSportsfan. Cease on his last year and SD needs to cut payroll.

I saw some articles too. I assume the Twins would have to pay a chuck of Vazquez's salary since he only makes 3.75M less than Cease. I assume the Twins are looking at Cease for one year, unless new ownership takes over in time to try to sign him long term.

Weird that is the most excitement up to the end of January....a possibility of adding another ace. Probably just a well orchestrated tire kick that leaked to the media.

twinsfan -> RE: Twins off-season (1/23/2025 9:33:27 AM)

Cole Hamels is on next year's HOF ballot? I honestly thought he was still active.

Twins are considering a trade of EmmRod, Christian Vazquez and cash to the Padres for Dylan Cease.

That is very close. Way better than Paddock, Vazquez, Zebby, and Keschall that I saw at one time....
