Eiberson Castellano is our Rule 5 selection that will make the opening day roster, probably as the last slot in our bullpen. He was the Phillies Minor League Pitcher of the Year. This bullpen is crazy deep. It's gonna be quite a year for our pitching staff!

Bringing in pitchers from other organizations that leapfrog over our own prospects is kinda the Twins MO

It beats not bringing them in.

No shit! Better still would be doing a better job of drafting and developing our own pitchers. We have Ober, Jax and Sands to show for 9 years under Falvey.

No reason to swear at me.

TJSweens -> RE: Twins off-season (2/28/2025 9:15:49 AM)

Fun afternoon yesterday. I watched Pablo Lopez throw batting practice for the Pirates. The other game highlight was Correa and Buxton back to back striking out looking with the bases loaded.

twinsfan -> RE: Twins off-season (2/28/2025 9:33:24 AM)

Royce Lewis is projected to lead the Twins in HR this season??? I guess I'm not seeing it. My guess would be Wallner. Miranda and France are dark horses, depending on playing time.

---------------------------------------

Twins: Royce Lewis (26)
2024 leader: Carlos Santana (23)

Three of the Twins’ top four projected home run hitters -- Lewis, Byron Buxton and Carlos Correa -- all face the same question: Can they stay healthy enough to put up numbers that match their talent?

Keep an eye on … Matt Wallner (22): His contact quality is at the top of the scale, and he raked after returning from the Minors last July (.282/.386/.559 in 62 games).

Sounds like Rocco's Boys are in midseason form already.

Wallner and Lewis hit HR at roughly the same rate. My guess is they factored in the impact injuries had on Lewis' output. It's all speculation meant to drive debate.

I don't see France and Miranda as even dark horses. Miranda's power output is too sporadic. France has reached 20 once in his career.

Dustin was at the game yesterday. Did you see him?

Thankfully no.

Is he buying the Twins?

So now that Gerritt Cole is done for the year and Luis Gil out for a while ...do the Twins make some trade offers to the Yankees?

You have to let it play out until trade deadline. We have a decent team. Maybe the stars align and we make a run.

I was intrigued by this pick, but he is not having a good spring at all. He's made four appearances totalling 6 innings and has an ERA of 9.00. He is showing strike out ability with 9 k in those 6 innings. Without a real strong finish to ST, he's likely going back to the Phillies.

TJSweens -> RE: Twins off-season (3/13/2025 8:58:25 AM)

Meanwhile, Zebby Matthews is killing it this spring. He may just force his way into the rotation.

Only if there's an injury. We're locked in with Lopez, Ryan, Ober, Paddack and Woods-Richardson.

I'm not necessarily talking about making the team coming out of camp. I do think Matthews can make the team if Woods-Richardson or Paddack falter. That would be a long-shot. I think there is good chance of seeing Matthews early on. I'm not at all convinced Paddack will cut it as a starter. I like SWR, but he is the most stuff-limited member of the rotation and not sure how he will do in his second year against major league hitters.

Karl Juhnke -> RE: Twins off-season (3/16/2025 2:25:24 PM)

Lewis left the game after injuring himself running to first. He was grabbing his hammy.

Everything back to normal. See you after the all star break, Royce.

TJSweens -> RE: Twins off-season (3/16/2025 2:46:34 PM)

I just won a bet with my brother. He had Buxton going down first.

TJSweens -> RE: Twins off-season (3/16/2025 2:55:59 PM)

We had a good time the other night. Took in the Twins evening game followed by fire works.

The game was very entertaining with the Twins fielding what could be their opening day lineup (minus Lewis of course). Wallner hit 2 hr and Castro added another. France and Bader looked good again. I've seen them 3 times now and those 2 are just barreling everything. Paddack sharp except.for giving up a hr to Ben Rortvelt.

The scuttlebutt I am hearing is that there was never a competition for 2B and that Castro was always going to be the guy even though all the other candidates are out performing him. I think Castro is Rocco's Nick Punto.

The only suspense now is the Correa plantar fasciitis watch.

If Buxton goes down before the season, he wins the other half of the bet. He says only Correa will start the season healthy.

And russian doll #1 skates (or doesn't)....and does not get labeled as injury-prone, even though he's constantly injured.

Trekgeekscott -> RE: Twins off-season (3/17/2025 3:05:59 PM)

Ok. I've reached a point in my Twins Fandom where I have given up on the oft injured "stars" of this team. get them healthy, let them play a few weeks until they show some value then trade them post haste.

Further, if your stars are constantly hurting themselves it is time for a new training/medical staff.

I get it. Injuries happen, but to the same guys all the time, over and over and over again? Hamstring injuries are usually partially attributable to poor stretching regimens.

That's on the training staff.

I love the potential of Royce Lewis. I'd love it if could rake for years for the Twins, but if he's going to miss significant time every stinking year, time to move on.

Trekgeekscott -> RE: Twins off-season (3/18/2025 10:05:18 AM)

There seems to be a growing apathy, or lack of interest in the Minnesota Twins on this board....

Myself included.

Thanks Pohlads for ruining my fandom.

For the love of God sell the damn team as soon as possible so we don't have to deal with your cheap asses any longer.

****ers

2 offseasons of nothing when there were a couple of adds and we would have competed.

Last year they traded away Polanco to have money to sign Santana....[&o]

TJSweens -> RE: Twins off-season (3/21/2025 9:00:28 AM)

The curse of Twins first round draft picks continues. Brooks Lee with back spasms again. I expect one of Walker Jenkins limbs to fall off any time now.
