Twins roster news: Brooks Lee said he will begin the season on the 10-day IL recovering from low back tightness.

Twins will be without Lee, Royce Lewis, Brock Stewart and Michael Tonkin for at least the first week of the regular season.

Who is getting Bader's spot on the roster?

I've only seen that story on Twins Daily.. It's gotta be a prank. Joe Pohlad's and Falvey's quotes are a bit absurd.

twinsfan -> RE: Twins off-season (3/24/2025 9:06:12 AM)

It’s always dangerous to talk about depth, because dipping into it necessarily means you have less of it. But not only do the Twins have a very strong top three and an effective starting five, they feel good about their sixth, seventh, and eighth starters as well. David Festa’s numbers weren’t good but his stuff was very sharp. Zebby Matthews might have been the best pitcher in camp. And Andrew Morris looked great.

No big losses.

Brett Gardner's teenage son died while falling ill on a family vacation to an undisclosed land. Very sad story.

TJSweens -> RE: Twins off-season (3/24/2025 1:14:17 PM)

Mickey Gasper and DeShawn Keirsey made the final roster with Austin Martin being sent to AAA.

Eiberson Castellano didn't make the bullpen and will be returned to Philly. I saw him twice. Electric stuff. No command.

Lee was probably not going to make the roster anyway.

Considering the roster spot when to Mickey Gaspar instead....I disagree with your conclusion.

Disagree all you want. Gasper badly outplayed Lee in spring training and won the job. Lee was a disappointment last year and a weak ST. The Twins would rather have him playing every day in St. Paul than riding the bench with the Twins.

I agree with Sweeney.

TJSweens -> RE: Twins off-season (3/25/2025 12:58:56 PM)

I'm finding myself strangely optimistic with this team. As much as I think the Twins had an uninspiring offseason, they look like they may have added a couple of good role pieces. There are also young players in the system who managed to not crash and burn at the upper levels of the minors and may be ready to push their way onto the 26 man roster.

The starting rotation looks real promising. Lopez, Ryan and Ober of course are solid. Paddack has had a good spring, but I will be skeptical about him until I see him perform at a high level over an extended period during the season. He also will have the issue of having hardly pitched at all over the last few years. He could go along fine, hit the wall and have to be shut down. SWR, will have to make some adjustments. He really wasn't very good outside of April and May last year. I'm still very optimistic about this group because Zebby Matthews looks poised to force his way up here very quickly. Festa didn't have the greatest spring, but showed a lot of promise in his debut last year. Corey Lewis and Andrew Morris are also rising fast.

The bullpen looks really good. They have stockpiled so many power arms, nobody even cares that Stewart is already on the first of his six annual visits to the IL. There are plenty of good options in St. Paul if the injury bug ravages the pen again.

As much as I didn't like it at the time, the Twins may have hit on one of their bargain basement moves. Ty France has looked really good. Good strike zone discipline and a simple approach. He just barrels everything. Even his outs this spring have been loud. I don't expect him to hit .467 during the season, but I am cautiously optimistic for the season. Harrison Bader (no, he's not quitting baseball to tour with Vampire Weekend) gives us an elite defender to use against LHP and to cover CF during Buxton's routine visits to the IL. If he can hit at all against lefties he will be an asset. He's also a good base runner. I love that DaShawn Keirsey climbed over Martin to take an outfield spot. The kid is an elite defender and a promising bat.

The infield has the depth to absorb Lewis' trips to the IL. I'm betting on a healthy season from Correa.

All in all, I see a good chance to win the central. After that who knows, given our pitching.

And now the latest head scratcher. The Twins just gave the final bullpen slot to Dobnak. It would have made a lot more sense to keep Castellano to start the season.

Oh, boy. I hope they have extra operators standing by for the sudden crush of new season ticket orders.

Game 2 Yankee Stadium playoff starter penciled in. Let's go!

He is an inspiration to evey young pitcher with no talent.

Nothing to get excited about for opening day for me.....probably check the box score afterwards

Rumor is the Pohlads had an interested buyer at 1.5 but since they owe almost .5 billion it isn't enough......

Forbes' new MLB team valuations have the Twins at $1.5 billion.

The Athletic reported the Pohlads recently rejected a $1.5 billion offer for the team, which they bought for $44 million in 1984.

Forbes estimates last year's Twins revenue at $324 million.

I get it. Punching bag because Billy Martin unloaded on Boswell after two bouncers restrained him.
