If Dustin thinks it's illegal he should sue.

If Dustin thinks it's illegal he should sue.

He doesn't work for MLB or the Twins.

could file a class action lawsuit on behalf of fans
or something like that

The other owners won't sue. some will follow the pattern of deferral. THey refuse to agree to a cap because of the various tv revenues. the big boys don't want to share so it won't happen.

Zero surprise that Mahle is an ex-Twin. He landed a great deal at 2/22, plus a chance to earn more in 2025. I am surprised to hear that they literally had zero interest in re-signing him. #MNTwins

Why do you want to dredge up the Delmon "twinkle toes" Young, Matt "the spitoon" Garza etc?

Are you trying to torture us?

The problem with that article is that it relies on the ever worthless WAR stat.

twinsfan -> RE: Twins off-season (12/15/2023 11:08:42 AM)

Rangers signed Tyler Mahle for 2 years $27 million. WTF are they doing?

MDK -> RE: Twins off-season (12/15/2023 12:02:13 PM)

Toss out WAR
The trade was terrible for the Twins.

Absolutely. Buffet Billy already new he was going to trade his Cy Young ace in the off-season and traded his best pitching prospect at the same time.

twinsfan -> RE: Twins off-season (12/16/2023 10:00:02 AM)

But the WAR disparity showed just how bad the trade was. Good article.

No it didn't. You can't quantify the disparity with a bogus stat. It's also pointless to try to add to the disparity by adding in the players Garza and Bartlett yielded in trades.

Kicking the tires so it looks like they are doing something.

Nothing will come of it.

Then they will return to twiddling their thumbs

The Twins have stated only one off-season objective...cut payroll...I'm sure it will be mission accomplished on that voal.

Guess when the Twins made their first moves of the offseason last year?
12/16/22 Minnesota Twins signed free agent C Christian Vázquez.
12/20/22 Minnesota Twins signed free agent LF Joey Gallo.

And before that offseason they didn't announce publicly that they are cutting back.

And for referense sake we complain about their inactivity EVERY STINKING YEAR. This is essentially par for the course with them. Wait wait wait until only the flotsam and jetsam remain then hope hope hope to catch lightning in a bottle or hope some freak occurance happens and we land a big name late.

Last offseason we were assuming that Carlos Correa would not be back....by a freak occurance he returned. They made a trade that Brad H couldn't handle all year long and got a great pitcher out of the deal...but they didn't lose anything significant before that other than "losing" Correa. This year, we lost Sonny Gray. We've parted ways with Kenta Maeda as well. The only good thing to happen so far this offseason is Emilio Pagan opted to sign elsewhere.

I want to see this team TRY to improve from the start by pursuing and actually signing a BIG name, making a trade for a BIG name. I am tired of same old, same old. Make a ****ing splash for once.

For a team that tries to market everything---that is the last thing that needed to be announced.

There hasn't been hardly any movement this year. Ohtani held everything up.

It's looking like Mauer might get into the HOF on his first ballot. So very underappreciated by Twins fans.

He never did anything in the postseason....it isn't underappreciation. It is the reason Puckett was so loved as well as Viola, Blyleven, and Morris....they brought home championships---the last two even made the HOF as they weren't the most media friendly.

You think Posey and Molina will be forgotten by their fans? There are WS banners because of them.

With 10% of votes reporting Donald Trump is winning in Pennsylvania...

They've hardly counted any votes yet. It's way to early to extrapolate this conclusion.

Outside of Beltre, nobody in this class impresses me as HOF material.
