So KAM got Cam.

Can still trade for DT Dexter Lawrence, either 2 1sts, or Addison and a 1st.

Vikes get:
Robinson
conditional 2026 7th (could go away with playing time)

Jags get:
2026 5th (can upgrade to 4th with playing time)

Less than I expected and feared.
Seems decent for Vikes as far as value.

That's excellent value for a starting caliber LT during the season.

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/29/2024 7:32:09 PM)

That’s a cheap rental. Well done.

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/29/2024 7:32:47 PM)

Did Jax owe us a favor?

beo -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/29/2024 7:34:18 PM)

No real inside info...

My guess is they are sure Cam isn't coming back so get something for him.
Like exactly what the vikes SHOULD have done with Hunter last year.

If Robinson leaves this off season, we get the compensatory value, right?

I get a sense we have something else cooking too. Probably not that big(Lawrence) but something significant.

Probably too expensive but sign Robinson to play LG, Darrisaw LT and move Brandel to RG.

Yeah LT was addressed fast. DT and CB Kwesi?

Is there any evidence that Robinson can play guard?

From what I've read from PFF there are questions about whether he can play tackle.

No. He's only been a LT since high school. Mike Mayock is apparently the only person ever to consider him an interior lineman.

One of the most highly regarded recruits across all positions, Robinson was unanimously considered the No. 1 offensive tackle prospect of his class. With offers from almost every program in the nation, Robinson chose Alabama over Louisiana State. He graduated from high school in January to enroll at Alabama for the spring semester.

• Unanimous All-American (2016)
• Outland Trophy (2016)
• Jacobs Blocking Trophy (2016)
• 2× First-team All-SEC (2015, 2016)

NFL draft experts and analysts projected Robinson to be a first or second round pick. He was ranked the top offensive tackle by Sports Illustrated, the second best offensive tackle by NFL media analyst Bucky Brooks, the second best interior offensive lineman by Mike Mayock, and was ranked the third best offensive tackle by ESPN and NFLDraftScout.com.

Arlowe84 -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/30/2024 1:31:25 PM)

i believe I read Darrisaw could be out for 11 months. But they have no idea how fast he'll recover and be ready by training camp next year

If Darrisaw misses camp an not ready until after the start of the 2025 season, it could be some time before he's ready to play again in game action

Wouldn't be surprised if Robinson plays well, they give him a 1 year deal in the offseason.

They may just see what kind of progress Darrisaw has made by early Spring, and decide to keep around next year.

Yeah, this is not some stud we are getting, and he's not a good run blocker.

But I think the benching was more about Jax knowing they weren't resigning him, and were preserving trade value.

The fact they only got got a mid to late 2026 pick tells you there was not a lot of interest.

I heard his pass blocking has been very good and run blocking not so good but he had a concussion a couple weeks ago and his replacement Little played well.

He had just cleared the concussion protocol 4-5 days ago.

Field Yates
@FieldYates
To facilitate the trade of Cam Robinson to the Vikings, the Jaguars absorbed just over $7M of his remaining base salary, per source.

The Vikings will owe Robinson $2M in base salary plus $58,824 for each game he is active for the rest of this season.

Robinson can begin practicing tomorrow.

No. My plan is about getting Ingram off the field.

the deal just keeps getting better and better....let's see the guy on the field before we get too excited....

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/31/2024 6:52:05 AM)

This doesn’t seem like a cheap deal as much as it does hauling away a couch from the curb.

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/31/2024 6:53:46 AM)

It’s another sticky change deal so I don’t really care. Can’t see it making too much difference.

Daniel Lee Young -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/31/2024 2:33:00 PM)

So we switched management styles from “stockpile bottom feeder picks, in the 5-7th round, to throw crap against the wall and see what sticks”, while guaranteed contracts are handed out to players well past prime, to “ keep the band together”.. cap hit and future dead cap were considered necessary evils to “ win now”…

Now the team has transitioned into a management style of. now dumping future picks for damaged players that other teams are either not drafting because they actually are way over hyped by “ draft pundits”, or, over paying to move up 5 spots in the draft for players other teams are passing on, because the “ translates well to NFL play” is suspect at best, and trading even more draft capital 1-2 years out, to rent a player or two for a season or less..
Aquiring younger talent to develop and build depth through the draft is now the least important concern, it’s still “ win now”

While being embarrassed at home and losing badly to a team that everyone else in the division, defeated.
We are behind the curve in head to head and common opponents and third in the division, only because the bears players are stupider than our coaches.

Bill Jandro -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/31/2024 3:25:07 PM)

Not sure I would say we "got embarrassed at home" is true. We were in the game until the end.

Then a short turn around with an away game on a Thurs night where the referees embarrassed themselves.

Not that we don't have things to clean up. Stagnant offense after qtr 1 and a defense that the league has figured out along with be penalty ridden.

But lets not throw the baby out with the bath water. We're still 5-2 and the schedule softening up a bit.

I would think it's a better plan to take our salary cap money next year and get a serious lg and center.

Take off the purple glasses…

The rams ate our lunch, teams that are contenders, not pretenders, beat teams like the Rams, on the road, as a matter of course.

The lions game was only close on the scoreboard, nothing about that game said dominance..

Nothing.

Not being able to get a first down, at home while the clock is nearing 00, then the defense unable to get a stop, is not “ in the game till the end.”.

That is pure copium.

Believe what you want..

This team is going nowhere.

Not with a GM who couldn’t pick a first round draft pick worth a **** if he had 4 of the top five.picks.

kAM floundering around in the middle of the first round has us with THRE TOTAL picks in 2025..

That’s fn brilliant management, right there

It that first is lower than ten, it’s a wasted pick with queasy trying to decide what RB or cb might be best.. he has no clue
