ORIGINAL: Jeff Jesser His lack of yards or touchdown catches when the season or playoff was on the line? I get the frustration but the dude has been in 1 playoff game and his chance to be a hero was rewarded with a 3 yard check down on forth and 8. If we are going to write off JJ as a choking loser already, this franchise is in trouble. And away we go.... I figured "choking loser" was a happy medium between you and Danno. Choking loser is gasoline on slow burning ember. We all use labels but that is an over reaction to fair criticism of JJ not being the end all of players. JJ is not perfect. But he's a great player, he's young, he has an A+ attitude in games going after the ball and attacking defenders. He needs to tone down the 'no other player in history' talk. Whether you agree with it or not. He's got so many good things going for him, it damps down (for me) on his likability, period. For my money, he's a cornerstone of the offense. Of the franchise? Nah. Its okay if he's a place holder until McCarthy develops or we find a QB. Pay him handsomely. I just don't think we build the team and structure the cap around him ... no matter how good / young he is. IMO teams sustain their success with QB, OL, DL/Edge and CB. WRs are vital but paramount? I myself would rather have top quality at QB, LT, Edge and CB, and then WR. I understand things don't fall into place perfectly like that ... so you keep your best players and keep trying. Bottomline for me: If paying him as the best WR is not good enough ... if he wants to push the boundaries of WR contracts beyond just being paid like the league's best WR ... I'm sorry but there is a point of diminishing returns. There just is. I think we'll find out soon enough. I don't know if I consider the phrases "**** him and Diva" as a slow burning ember. Like I said, somewhere in between Bill and Danno.
