Does it include Greenard, Van Ginkel and Turner or do we call them LBs and not part of the line? Those three plus Harrison Phillips IMO isn't bad at all. Sure we need one Pat Williams type to clog up the middle.

What bothered me about the trade that the following draft was TE rich. Plus Hock was one of those "break the bank" guys. Detroit dumped him and are both cap healthier and drafted a superior replacement. Meanwhile we are paying a guy top dollar and gave up a boat load of picks.

But Hock is a good talent, and Kwesi may have drafted a bad TE in the 1st round, or hung onto Irv Smith for longer.

Draft picks and free agency trades are not the same. I’m happy cousins is gone. I hope Darold holds the offense together untill McCarthy is ready to step up. Turner is a great pick but it was more happenstance and luck than planning. Going into 2025 draft with three picks and hoping a compensation pick has enough value to fill a roster spot? Not a good plan.. I am not sure which method is worse .. Spielmans trade back and pile up picks to sort through 10 wannabes, or Queasy trading away the future picks to try to fix an ongoing lack of Talent that Spielman left him with… Nothing I can do about it, but bitch.

This is not a, one off season reboot, and the draft, with smart choices, is where you find the majority of the young cheap talent.. I don’t see the logic in giving up Hockenson’s pick, and his ridiculous contract , as a smart move at all. Yeah, we spent a lot of draft capital on two guys this year. But they were at two of the most important positions - and two of the most expensive. If we hit on them, we have them contract controlled for 5 years. Hopefully we hit on some of the later picks as well. And if we don't? That kind of continues to devalue those mid-late picks for us. Most importantly, we have our 1st round pick. So we have the option of drafting a player (hopefully not too) high, or trading down and reclaiming a couple picks. I'm not going to gnash my teeth and get all worked up about next year's draft. We had years of Spielman drafting 10 players and hoping 2-3 would stick. Then we had Kwesi doing the exact same thing. I find it refreshing that he went against that strategy. It was time to try a new approach and go star hunting.

I wouldn't be surprised if Spielman drafted more players in the 7th round than any other team during his tenure. How many of those did he hit on?

We don't need to trade down for more picks. That got us nothing. Love that we were aggressive this year. You win with studs not role players, they keep you at 500. Role players can be signed for cheap not drafted. Go up and get the guy you think will make a huge impact at his position. If the KC chiefs had the Spielman get (more picks attitude) they never would have gotten Patrick Mahomes. If you identify a player you want/need do what you need to get him. The Vikings had a good plan this year and also adjusted on the fly. Great job! Nice to have we don't need all those picks we can use the cap space to help fill out the rodter

Keeping 1st rounders from this year and next were bigger than the rest of the draft.
