Quite an extensive article on the QB transition.

A really good read.

Dave Odle -> RE: General Vikes Talk (7/20/2024 7:22:57 PM)

Yep, a lot of really good info and behind-the-scenes things I didn't realize. Cousins still.comes off as a money-grubber and I never liked breaking the bank for a guy w/ so few playoff appearances and wins. Very Dak Prescott-ish.

kgdabom -> RE: General Vikes Talk (7/21/2024 5:28:49 PM)

Dallas Turner is signed. Defensive Rookie of the Year. All rookies signed and ready to go.

BisonFan -> RE: General Vikes Talk (7/22/2024 8:04:34 AM)

Happy to hear everyone is signed and will be ready for training camp. Man, I have missed football!

Daniel Lee Young -> RE: General Vikes Talk (7/22/2024 11:12:55 AM)

I am much happier, knowing that albatross is gone and we are at least trying to join the new century in offensive capability.

Yeap. The fear of the unknown can be tough but it's awesome to have hope. We knew what was coming if we'd have kept him. Good stats, decent record and no shot at winning it all.

Now, use this year as a building year and use next years new found salary cap to really give Flores some new toys to play with.

Ben Goessling:

The #Vikings plan to pay out the remainder of Khyree Jackson’s signing bonus to his estate.

Players will wear helmet decals, and coaches will wear pins, with the initials ‘KJ’ throughout the season. Jackson’s number 31 will go unused.

The #Vikings will cover a “significant portion” of the funeral expenses for Khyree Jackson’s funeral, which is scheduled for this Friday. Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, Kevin O’Connell, Brian Flores, Matt Daniels and Daronte Jones will be among those in attendance.

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (7/22/2024 2:22:10 PM)

Pure class.

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (7/22/2024 2:23:56 PM)

I’m a little disappointed Jackson isn’t playing. I died in high school and didn’t miss a game.

Good on them, man. Very classy and respectful move.

Phil Riewer -> RE: General Vikes Talk (7/23/2024 5:04:28 PM)

Christian Darrisaw has agreed to terms on a massive 4-year extension worth up to $113 million, $77mil guaranteed with the #Vikings, per @TomPelissero

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (7/24/2024 2:21:54 AM)

Staring at a solid 5 year window.

If nothing else, and it’s close there’s not much going on for me, this has to be a reason to keep going.

I might get addicted to winning SB’s bc I imagine no greater high than finally bringing one home.

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (7/24/2024 2:46:04 AM)

The Duke of Shellington is back.

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (7/24/2024 2:47:37 AM)

Maybe we can get Thielen back.

BisonFan -> RE: General Vikes Talk (7/24/2024 6:06:51 AM)

Glad Darrisaw's contract is done now and know he will be with the team for the next five years. Always good to have a solid left tackle to anchor your line and he is one of the best.

Now that would be a great option for WR3.

I'd support that

Yea, if he wants vet minimum, and a lot of incentives in his contract.

I am not on board with big money for a bottom of the lifespan , third reciver.

Almost anyone can fill that spot.

Move on, quit trying to hold onto things that have proven to be not quit good enough.

He was still good. We just moved on because he cost too much.
He was still the best WR Carolina had last year. Translate that to WR3...he'd fill that role nicely.

Do you think Thielen would take WR3 money?
I’m not giving him the “ hometown hero” fist bump and generous contact at his age.

His ankles are shot or damn close to it.
A reasonable “ year to year amount for the type of role he will have with a generous bump for meaningful production, like FD catches, and points scored..

Fine.

A medium length contact with ridiculous guarantees and no trade, no cut, big roster bonus..

Nope.

Ok. I'm just saying I'd take him back. I didn't say let's pay him top dollar.

He's no fool. He knows his career in on the decline. I wouldn't be surprised with him taking less to come home. And asking him to do less and still contribute....would be just what his ailing ankles needs. He can play one more year and still contribute.

Nobody works harder.

Phil Riewer -> RE: General Vikes Talk (7/24/2024 10:17:20 AM)

Carolina would have to cut him....no way we trade for him at that $$$.

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (7/24/2024 1:39:46 PM)

2025 picks.

1st
3rd (projected comp)
5th
5th

David Levine -> RE: General Vikes Talk (7/24/2024 1:44:56 PM)

Why would Carolina let him go?

This is a very big year for Bryce Young. Thielen had 103 receptions and 1014 yards last year. He's the security blanket.

Plus he's a good veteran for Xavier Legette to learn from.
