Chill Riechard .

No stress when he lines up. One impressive rookie.

I no longer cringe when we line up for a PAT.

That 58 yarder had the distance to go 70 [:-]

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/22/2024 7:35:56 PM)

Five sacks today. A 34-7 thumping!

Two of the next three games are @GB and vs Det. Like Denny Green said, take care of the division games.

beo -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/22/2024 9:20:44 PM)

Watching ATL/KC.

ATL is looking like a pretty good team.

But Kirk can't scramble away from 3 man rush... man, I DON'T MISS THAT!

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/22/2024 9:20:46 PM)

McCarthy is a winner, the Vikings have won every game since they drafted him, now 6-0 (including the pre-season).

Ricky J -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/22/2024 10:38:00 PM)

Pretty impressive the Vikings have 55 net points through 3 games.

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/22/2024 11:02:03 PM)

Atlanta had a shot at winning that game.

The Chiefs even helped them on Atlanta's last drive, with 2 PI calls and a horse collar tackle, but Atlanta couldn't convert short yardage on 3rd and 4th down.

ebergste -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/23/2024 7:59:02 AM)

Last touchdown on Sunday. My son looks at me and says, "I know if I was a Vikings Quarterback and I needed to throw to someone in triple coverage, I would also choose Johhny Munt." Might be my new quote for life.

With Kirk Cousins at QB? I'm shocked. Shocked I tell you.

My .02

This defense will not face a real test until they face a QB that isn't easily confused and doesn't wilt under pressure. That will likely be in London vs Aaron Rodgers and the Jets.

This offense isn't even at full strength and we are making opposing DCs sleepless with cold sweats.

Three times this year the pundits have poo pooed the vikings chances. and now we've manhandled the Giants, 49ers (among many pundits picks to represent the NFC in the Superbowl) and the Texans (among many pundits picks to be a big factor in the AFC playoff picture).

I would love to see what this offense can do once Addison and Hockenson are back.

Seriously Pace is out and Grugier-Hill steps in and has a huge game. One game it's Van Ginkel, Another Jones II, Now Greenard. Opposing QBs aren't even throwing Gilmore's way, DBs are covering so well we are getting coverage sacks.

Jalen Nailor had a couple bad plays but still makes a couple great plays a game.

Aaron Jones and Ty Chandler are churning out yards

Darnold has been a godsend.

BRING ON THE PACKERS!!

Bulletin board material:

"None of it means anything until you beat a good team on the road."

I don't really know of anyone saying that right now, I just want to make sure this team continues to be motivated.

David F. -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/23/2024 10:23:48 AM)

By my count, the Vikings have a total of four 3-and-outs this season so far. Combine that with the ability to sign all those playmakers on defense and I think you get the team we're enjoying right now. I'm jacked!

EDIT - In contrast - we had five 3-and-outs in the first game last season.

Brad H -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/23/2024 10:28:52 AM)

One of the better wins I've seen in a long time this weekend. Wins against San Francisco and Houston in back-to-back weeks is impressive. If they can ever get healthy on offense, look out. When are Hockenson and Addison supposed to return?

Phil Riewer -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/23/2024 10:29:24 AM)

I remember in 1998 how whenever the Offense was on the field it was like you were in the twilight zone and didn't want to miss a play.....
This year it has been both the Offense and the Defense were you just see everyone making plays and we aren't fully stocked on Offense yet.
The exciting thing is that there is so much depth on defense....new MLB, no problem. New DT from the PS and he makes plays....It has been a long time since I have seen this.

TJ is out until week 5 or 6. Addison is a week or two from returning.

Sam is supposed to get an MRI today just to be sure his knee is fine...

That's bullshit.

We have beaten two of the consensus best 5 teams in the NFL in successive weeks.

They just need to keep humble about it. don't get overconfident.

Sam Darnold is still just 27 years old. He is

The same age as Joe Burrow
1 year younger than Josh Allen
2 years younger than Baker Mayfield
4 years younger than Dak Prescott
6 years younger than Geno Smith

Richard Neussendorfer -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/23/2024 11:28:03 AM)

The only bulletin board material needed is the Packers favored in the upcoming game. Motivation shouldn't be a problem.

For sure. Conclusively. With a few breaks, we could have thumped the 49ers almost as bad as the Texans.

Right now the Vikings, Seahawks, and Steelers have stormed into the view of many a power ranker.

For my money, we look as or more dangerous on both sides of the ball than anybody at this point. If doubters like myself were hoping for a Mayfield-like reemergence from Darnold, Sam has blown past that so far. 2023 Mayfield was just a scrappy precursor to what we're seeing from Darnold so far. And make no mistake about it, as outstanding as our defense has looked, our success will hinge on the Darnold.

But ...

the 49ers folding yesterday is a reminder that teams are still soundly messing with offseason predictions, and a real handle on the power structure of 2024 (I'm not talking about the silly media power ranking crap) is still a long way off. At least another 8-10 weeks to slot the actual contenders and pretenders.

For my money, we have a real chance to be the real deal. We're not there yet.

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/23/2024 12:47:55 PM)

49ers are still a talented team, but most teams that lose a Super Bowl have a black cloud hanging over them the next season.

The previous time the 49ers lost the Super Bowl to the Chiefs, they followed it up with something like a 6-10 season.

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/23/2024 12:49:19 PM)

McCarthy is a winner, and winning is contagious.

The Vikings are 6-0 since they drafted McCarthy (including the pre-season games).

Marty. There is this thing called a "coincidence".

#Vikings QB Sam Darnoldā€™s MRI revealed a knee bruise and no structural damage, per source.

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/23/2024 1:33:44 PM)

Wherever McCarthy goes, victories ensue, it's purely coincidence.
