Baldelli really hates SWR.

I think SWR has hit the wall. He's at by far his highest inning total and he's lost a little velo.

Pablo is getting sneaky close to getting some Cy Young consideration.

twinsfan -> RE: Twins 2024 Season and Game Day Thread (9/16/2024 7:21:37 PM)

Not thrilled with Royce's defense. Should have been an out at first base and no runs.

Not really.

Royce has become unimpressive. As has our bullpen.

Phil Riewer -> RE: Twins 2024 Season and Game Day Thread (9/17/2024 7:31:06 AM)

Cole Irvin picked up by Twins.

Still waiting on the $$$ Matt said they were going to spend on the deadline. Unless Irvin is the reincarnation of Pavano we are in deep doo doo this year.

Stick a fork in them.

They are done.

With Correa, Buxton, Kepler, Ryan, Paddack all out for the long term it seems.
Royce Lewis is gassed, has never played this many games in a season due to Covid, Knee, knee. He's run out of gas and it trying too hard to carry the team on his own.
We have a shattered bullpen with the exception of two guys
Our rotation has three rookies. THREE.
The bullpen they imagined at the start of the season with Okert (bombed), Staumont (bombed) Topa (perpetually hurt), Alcala (wildly inconsistent), Stewart (hurt), Thielbar (lost his juju), Jax and Duran Just never came to fruition
And the Front office handcuffed to a sinking ship by cheap ass bastard owners did nothing at the trade deadline other than a move to say "see we did something" (it should be noted they already cut bait with that guy too).

And then there is Rocco. He makes unbelievably stupid decisions like pinch hitting for Larnach or Wallner with the likes of Margot (who couldn't get a pinch hit to save his life) and Christian Vazquez, and Kyle Farmers, two guys not exactly known for their bats.

There is no hope in sight.

This next offseason will lean towards even more frustrating as they will use the same bullshit excuse for not signing anyone to help and letting one of the few truly bright spots, Carlos Santana, walk.

What a bummer...this season was looking so promising. Now the wheels have fallen off the proverbial bus.

This team would struggle to beat the historically bad White Sox at the moment.

Bump!

Only updates, dinged up stars like Buxton and Correa are "back" but still not 100% and will probably show it the rest of the year, Otherwise. everything still applies.

Thank you cheap ass owners. You ****ing suck.

Good, not great effort by Ober. Twins get 2 in top of the 10th and lose when Cleveland gets 3.
1/2 game lead for the last WC spot.
The Org doesn't deserve the playoffs after such a dismal penny pinching off season by the Ebenezer Pohlads.

Agree. If they spend money so there are butts in the seats, they still make money with sellout games. Have to spend money to make money. Cheap owners.

How do you make more money in professional sports ownership?

WIN. Commitment to winning. Hate the Yankees all you want but they are committied to compete for a WORLD TITLE every year. Granted there are other economic factors involved, but come on. When you WIN a lot, MORE people come to the games. MORE People watch on TV, listen on the radio which means better TV/Radio contracts. MORE people buy merchandise. When you suck people spend their money elsewhere and in the Twin Cities there are a lot of options other than the Miinnesota Twinkies to spend their money on.

They still have the audacity to talk about not drawing and also talk about their new restaurants when the focused should have been Maximize the product on the field. They will probably end up 1/2 starters, another decent reliever, and another RH power bat of a team equal to last year.....none if was costly either.

They only want to compete....making the playoffs with a chance to win it all is not on the docket this year like it wasy last year.

Trekgeekscott -> RE: Twins 2024 Season and Game Day Thread (9/19/2024 3:17:48 PM)

And we found a way to blow another 10 inning game to the Guardians.

Now eliminated from contention from the division title...

This freefall is precipitous.

and they will do nothing this offseason to address the issues they have.

Nope.....could see it coming a mile away.....(at the trade deadline when 0 legit moves were made to help the club because of $$$$)

Thielbar and Ronny had to be used in high leverage situations because the Pohlads didn't want to spend some nickels on Erceg or others.

BisonFan -> RE: Twins 2024 Season and Game Day Thread (9/19/2024 7:19:26 PM)

I usually don't say anything about the Twins but follow this board during the season. I am a lifelong Twins fan but I am so tired of watching our team struggle due to owners who aren't willing to spend some of their cash to field a contender. Yes, Rocco makes a lot of mistakes, but he trying to make chicken soup out of chicken sh... It's hard to win when you are putting out AAA and AA players and hoping to win. The other thing that gravels me is the number of injuries our team has each and every year. I am done and will now focus my time and energy on the Vikings. SKOL!

"Rocco makes a lot of mistakes, but he trying to make chicken soup out of chicken sh..."
The question is what came first the chicken or the egg?
Or maybe more accurately, the soup or the s***?

TJSweens -> RE: Twins 2024 Season and Game Day Thread (9/20/2024 7:22:21 AM)

You two are both aiming too low. The problem is the Pohlads. The Pohlad family is only committed to winning as long as they can do it on the cheap. Until the Twins are sold to an owner committed to winning, it doesn't matter who runs baseball operations or manages the team.

Great question of which came first. Oh I know, it is the Pohlads.

twinsfan -> RE: Twins 2024 Season and Game Day Thread (9/20/2024 8:28:11 AM)

Did Correa not run out a groundball yesterday? And he would have been safe?

TJSweens -> RE: Twins 2024 Season and Game Day Thread (9/20/2024 9:11:08 AM)

Correa and Lewis have been exempted from running full speed and running everything out. The Twins just want to keep them on the field at this point. Very sad.

You are correct. In the entire Pohlad era the team has only been in the top half of MLB payrolls 5 times. If they can occasionally put together a cute winning team with a bunch of scrappy overachievers, fine. But otherwise it doesn't seem like they care.
