Well, we are through the All Star break meaning the great Minnesota sell off is about to begin. The Twins have absolutely no core outside of Buxton and Ryan, so they should go all in on selling. I don't see Ryan going even though the Red Sox have supposedly expressed interest. Ryan is everything the Twin look for when they trade for arms; top flight pitcher in his prime and under team control for 3 more years. Falvey has pretty well said the Twins would have to be blown away by an offer for Ryan to pull the trigger. Buxton isn't going anywhere as he has said he will enforce his no trade clause if he has to. Correa has made himself unmovable with his money and performance. I would bet heavily that Coulombe will be moved. I will also be shocked if Jax and /or Duran isn't traded. Castro and Bader are intriguing rentals for any number of contenders. Paddock could even have some value. Pablo Lopez could also be moved, depending on how close to a return he is. Sell these guys off. Sell off anyone not named Buxton or Ryan. Take the best of our "vaunted farm system" and newly acquired prospects and make the rest of 2025 an audition for 2026.

Lopez being under contract at a reasonable price through 2027 would be like Ryan. The Twins would be looking for a big return.

Assuming Lopez recovers fully, he Ryan and Buxton form a 3 man core. You can't swing enough deals to build around a core that small for a playoff run. Sell, sell, sell.

He is really good at selling high on prospects who look good from a distance, but never amount to anything

Try to trade for 2 young starters.[/b Also, we are drafting college power guys who look like they are destined for the bullpen. Bullpen can be replenished pretty fast. And we need a whole new coaching staff and direction.

Biggest issue is that Lopez and Ryan are just under 30 and Buck is now over......we won't catch their window. The window unfortunately was 2 Novembers ago when the Pohlads went who can be cheap, cheaper, cheapest after a great year and announced payroll cuts. Buck, Lopez, and Ryan are all under very good contracts also and our bullpen is very cheap Jax, Stewart, and Duran. What can you get in return though that won't be a total tank for a couple to few years?

Updates: Zebby Matthews is back from his injury. He got roughed up a little in his first game back and then threw 6 shutout / 2 hit innings with 7 k and no bb against Washington. It was probably the best start of his short career. Festa has now replaced Matthews on the IL with a strain and will likely be out a few weeks. Ober has had two rehab starts at St. Paul. He has given up 1 run in 9 total innings. They say his fastball velo is up a little, but still not back to where it was.
