McCarthy was really bad tonight in all aspects of the game. (Notice the lack of excuses?)
Some cats revel in the failure of their favorite team. That will always be weird to me.

I dont think any actual fan revels in their team’s failure. By definition.

But obviously there’s one or two that come in here to troll specific fan bases.

McCarthy was really bad. A few good plays and bad play by others does not excuse his bobbles and wobbles.

He’s got a long way to go. Doing anything against the bears is proof of nothing.

We’ll find out as we go along.

Thank you. That's all I am asking for. A little honesty. McCarthy was terrible and he's a long ways away.

Oddly, when I say McCarthy was terrible I am accused of trolling. When you do it, no response.

We virtually said the same thing.

It pains me to see this team fail and have to call out the bad stuff. This is my team.

You do it gleefully, out of spite or as proof for one of your lame arguments.

Nothing odd about it, troll.

It's not gleeful whatsoever. I never liked McCarthy two months before they drafted him. He was a guy from a running system that had never run a legitimate two-minute offense. It was a bad pick then, and it's an even worse pick now because we let a guy go that won 14 games last season.

There's nothing gleeful about it. All I ask is that you guys think for yourself and quit trying to hope yourself to a Lombardi Trophy.

It's your team. It's my team. I assume it's everybody in here's team.

Darnold is a decent qb.
But that is just Case Keenum/Kirk Cousins fools gold to me.
You get a winning record and ugly exit in the playoffs.

You want elite or flameout.

McCarthy may flameout... but that's the gamble you take.
And then draft early and try again.

Or you hit and get a shot at a ring for a decade or so.

Why do you have to take a gamble? That's silly. I'll take 14 wins every season. Football is about matchups and adjustments. You can't win in the playoffs if you don't make the playoffs. Darnold was sacked nine times against Los Angeles. It's not like he didn't have a little help in losing that game. With McCarthy at QB they will all be golfing come playoff season.

"Why do you have to take a gamble?"

Because in today's football world you need elite qb to win a superbowl OR in rare cases a cheap qb on a great team.

Darnold gives you neither IMO.
Good but not great.
Wouldn't be cheap.

He's the type of qb that dooms you to early playoff exits and high draft picks.

There's a lot of quarterbacks that haven't won Super Bowls. Josh Allen, Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson to name a few. And by the way, none of those guys have ever won 14 games in a regular season. Are they chokers?

I think most of you folks have no idea what it is like to play quarterback when you get sacked nine times in a game. Against Detroit and Los Angeles, the miracles ran out. We ran into two teams that knew our deficiencies and exploited them. This season so far, opposing teams have copied the script.

Sam Darnold was a good quarterback last season. Worse quarterbacks than him have won Super Bowls.

14-3 That's a lot of freaking wins. I'll take that every season and take my chances with home field advantage (in most seasons).

This statement out of you has no credibility. In 2022 Cousins put up big numbers and led the Vikings to a 13-4 record, and a division title. Due to one of the worst defenses in football, Cousins did it by setting a record for one score victories. After that you proclaimed that was in the bottom third of starting QB's and people were fools to be taken in by his big numbers. Now you argue in favor of Darnold based on 14 wins and big numbers. You completely sold out your previous arguments to support your current one. Were you wrong then or are you wrong now?

marty -> RE: WEEK 2: vs Falcons 9-14-25 7:20PM CT (9/17/2025 6:44:13 PM)

You can't take 14 wins every season, Darnold likely wouldn't have given you that. With the blueprint from the last 2 games last year, I think Darnold would have gotten the Vikings 9 wins this season, 9-7, and probably not make the playoffs.

You gamble, take a step backwards, so you can then go 2 steps forwards, hopefully we still get that with JJ.

Bringing the Vikings back on the road from 10 points down, to being 10 points ahead, I can't imagine Darnold doing that, but JJ did. But the Bears had 2 CBs out, so that needs to be tempered.

Actually, maybe. Maybe all 3 are talented QBs that never win a Super Bowl their entire career. So far they have all come up short.
