Outside of yesterday, Dart hasn't been that bad in his first 10 career games. 13 TD, 5 Int, 1835 yards.

If Manning was in the draft you definitely take him. But I'm not so sure the top QBs in this draft are potentially that much better than Dart. Just saying they could go with Dart, trade down, and get some additional high picks.

Then again, they are 2-13.

Yup. I've read a couple articles talking about the haul they could get if they trade out of #1 just because it's a one man show at QB. I think most project that Moore stays in unless they win it all so that leaves just Mendoza.

lyle chabot -> RE: 2026 NFL Draft (12/29/2025 3:37:31 PM)

Well I wanted the vikes to lose to Detroit so we could get the 4th place schedule next year and a higher draft pick next year. So right now we will pick 17th I believe.. take best cornerback or safety with our first pick

Guess the good news on schedules is Det played a 1st place schedule and we played a 2nd place schedule, but their opponents currently sit at .491 and we are at .517. A delta good enough for two draft positions (15 vs 17). So there is fluctuation, although sure not likely as much as in 1st vs 4th place schedules.

As an aside, sometimes a team needs to play a tough schedule to get over a psychological hump or gain confidence. A forged in fire kind of thing. If Minny was truly in the running for the SB, I'd want to see them play a tough schedule.

Record wise, if we were 7-9 we'd be #13. At 6-10, we'd be tied with Cincy for #10. Although the Kwesi factor makes all that meaningless.

Bill you nailed with the Kwesi factor!

Mark Anderson -> RE: 2026 NFL Draft (12/31/2025 5:23:56 PM)

Going to be some serious tanking by teams towards the end of next season. Arch Manning is going to be a stud.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: 2026 NFL Draft (1/6/2026 10:58:03 AM)

https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2026/story/_/id/47503334/2026-nfl-mock-draft-first-round-predictions-32-picks-jordan-reid

In this mock we select the first CB off the board.

Other CBs are picked at 25, 26, 30, 32.

Mark Anderson -> RE: 2026 NFL Draft (1/6/2026 12:49:38 PM)

How about someone like QB Nussmeier(LSU) in 2nd or 3rd round? He seems to have lost his 1st round grade after being benched this year.

Nussmeier, free agent QB and JJM battling it out next Fall.

Rob Viking -> RE: 2026 NFL Draft (1/6/2026 7:13:08 PM)

Nussmeier does have a good arm and the entire LSU team fell apart around him even prior to his injury. A few other prospects like Mateer and Ty Simpson could come out as well. I like what I saw out of Simpson with no absolutely no run game at Bama. He may stay another year however.

I don't think we'll be drafting a QB in 2026 but 2027 could be QB rich and the brass should have more answers regarding JJ by then.

Brad H -> RE: 2026 NFL Draft (2/2/2026 8:17:46 AM)

Have to build up the offensive line. Period.

Vega Ione, Penn State.
Immanuel Pregnon, Oregon

Either of those two would improve our o-line right away.

Second Round, go out and get yourself a good running back or another o-lineman. The second round will be o-line heavy. Our running back stable is starting to look pretty weak and tired. That, or get one in free agency. It's time. I don't ordinarily promote drafting a running back because they are a dime a dozen, but the game is getting back to running the ball in recent years.

Kansas City fell apart because they lost their running game and the o-line has been consistently bad the past two seasons. Philadelphia took a big step backwards because they lost their running game. Detroit found out what life was life with a banged up offensive line.

Seattle, conversely, has one of the best o-lines in the game.

Do the math!

Rumor is our new Asst Running game coordinator gets along real well with NYJ RB FA.....Breece Hall.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: 2026 NFL Draft (2/2/2026 9:44:00 AM)

I've been saying it all year long. I give them a little credit for trying but the OLine was still a disaster. No matter what your take on our QB situation is, neither JJM/Darnold/Wentz/Brosmer-whomever, stood a chance out there.

Though you are correct, this year it was more due to injuries than talent.

The problem was a much about depth on the line as it was about the actual talent there.

In addition, they are getting a new Oline coach....albeit promoting the assistant is not sitting well with me.

Consider Darrisaw was not himself and was in and out a lot...and his primary backup was the turnstyle known as Skule. Jackson was a rookie missed a couple games but from most of what I've read was serviceable at worst. Then you have a guy that goes how if you breath on him in Ryan Kelly, His back up ended up being a guy that never played Center before in Brandal and Jurgens who were both below average. Will Fries underperformed but was the ONLY guy on the line to play all the games. and then O'Neill who missed time and didn't really earn his contract.

Yes, there is work to be done here. I had hoped when they moved on from their Oline coach that they would go find a good one (They should bring meathead back) But promoted from within. It's my hope this guy was being held back, but it doesn't look good.

So Improved coaching. Replace Kelly cause he should retire. and improve depth and this unit will be stronger...

Phil Riewer -> RE: 2026 NFL Draft (2/2/2026 10:06:37 AM)

I do like the new Asst HC they hired: Frank Smith.

The #Vikings are hiring former #Dolphins OC Frank Smith to be their assistant HC, per
@RapSheet
.
Smith was voted as the number 1 OC in the NFL during the 2023 season, according to a survey, taken by the players, from the
@NFLPA
.

I like two players for upcoming draft. Safety Caleb Downs and running back Jeremiyah Love. If those two are gone then best corner back available.

I think it's still a possibility if we make a draft day trade:

Say, trade either Addison or Grenarnd to move up for Downs or Love and get a pick back in 2027?

Bill Johanesen -> RE: 2026 NFL Draft (2/28/2026 12:11:09 PM)

How about drafting back to back OL so we don't have to draft the best RB in an attempt to be effective?

Who do we replace? other than C we are pretty much locked in to the other four. Unless your talking depth. Another OT is certainly a piece we could use.

BisonFan -> RE: 2026 NFL Draft (3/1/2026 7:36:21 AM)

I believe we need a corner in the first round and I hesitate to say it, but I would be OK with taking the best safety available as I think Harrison will be retiring. We definitely need a runningback and a center. Of course free agency could change our needs. Too bad we don't have a lot of money to spend.

Yes center for sure. And OT to step in for 31 year old (with an expiring contract) O'Neill or an injured Darrisaw. Or G to replace Fries, who I believe is one-dimensional.

Just an idea. Hoping CB at #18. C in the 2nd. S somehow. There seems to be 3-4 CBs who could go high so a talented one ~ should be available.

Drafting a CB in rd 1 gives me pause. We have been so bad at it.

I guess them were the Spiel/Zim drafts not sure we've dipped in to those waters with Flores,

Yeah I wouldn't preempt taking a CB based on our bad history of doing so.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: 2026 NFL Draft (3/2/2026 12:21:04 PM)

Top prospects by position
1 QB
1 RB
3 WR
1 TE
3 OL

3 Edge
1 DL
2 LB
3 CB
2 S

20. There is a pretty good chance a projected top level player at a need position will be there at #18.

Are these the only players with a projected 1st rd grade?

One really has to question winning these last 5 games after being eliminated. We could be looking at picking 10th.

No it's my own list made to try to determine positions available for the 18th pick.

I'm not sure how you tank when you have healthy players playing for contracts and some playing for pride.

On top of that you have a coach that is on the hot seat. We only played one good team(DET) and one average team(Dallas) down the stretch.

How did tanking work for Miami? A big lawsuit and more mediocrity.

Our biggest problem was KAM. The drafting was easily the worst in the franchise history.
