And now on to Colorado to play the best team in the league.....
At least Ekker came back after a scary fall into the boards. It was a very good series and other than Benn have to give Dallas kudos for being a hell of a team.

Lynn G. -> RE: Wild 2025-26 Season (5/1/2026 9:11:19 AM)

Every win is a good one, but how nice to be a couple of goals ahead when it's down to the wire and the clock is ticking. It's not that "I can't bear to watch" feeling when the opposition can come back and win or tie with one lucky goal.

Whew. Dallas is now in our rear-view mirror. I bet our team has the mentality that they can beat anyone, so a little avalanche won't scare them.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Wild 2025-26 Season (5/1/2026 9:55:07 AM)

Mostly stayed out of the box and that gave us the advantage. Kudos to both 38 and 17. They kept their collective heads and still played 'tough'.

I've been tough on BG in the past. If we're being honest, he's whiffed on the 3rd and 4th lines in the past but he nailed it this year. Massive kudos for him for taking the chances and getting it right.

Still makes zero sense how two of the top three teams will be eliminated before the Conf finals.

Anaheim or LVK/Utah in the conference finals.

The explanation is simple. Bettman is a moron wrapped in an idiot.

I’m old enough to remember when good teams played the bad teams in Round 1.

stfrank -> RE: Wild 2025-26 Season (5/3/2026 3:29:56 PM)

Ek and Brodin out for at least games 1 & 2. Sounds like we will see Yurov with Boldy and JoJo tonight while Hunt gets his first shot in the playoffs.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Wild 2025-26 Season (5/3/2026 4:47:36 PM)

Brodin hurts but Ek is the killer. Oooffff

stfrank -> RE: Wild 2025-26 Season (5/3/2026 5:19:00 PM)

Time for Yurov to pick up his game playing in the top 6. If he gets beat too much on the faceoffs I could see Hynes swapping him with big Mac.

stfrank -> RE: Wild 2025-26 Season (5/3/2026 9:56:16 PM)

Wow, 10 total goals scored and tied after 2 periods. Get tightened up on D and maybe we can sneak out of here with a win to start the series.....

David Levine -> RE: Wild 2025-26 Season (5/3/2026 10:42:57 PM)

A football game has broken out…

stfrank -> RE: Wild 2025-26 Season (5/3/2026 10:49:20 PM)

Wally has been off on his angles all night. Not a good night for him. But my gosh, a 9-6 final is indeed a football score.

stfrank -> RE: Wild 2025-26 Season (5/4/2026 10:08:41 AM)

Yurov looked ok between Boldy and JoJo, but we still need Ek sooner than later. Hunt looked pretty good as well and I'd rather see him continue to get ice time than going back to Petry. We really miss our 2 best defenders in Brodin and Ek big time. If we don't tighten things up tomorrow we are going to be toast.

TJSweens -> RE: Wild 2025-26 Season (5/4/2026 10:40:51 AM)

The Spurgeon, Middleton combo was just plain bad.

TJSweens -> RE: Wild 2025-26 Season (5/4/2026 10:45:10 AM)

In general, the Wild will not win if they are going to engage the Avalanche in a track meet.

Really miss Brodin and Ek against the Avs.
Couple of notes last night. Kadri accidentally let it slip that Colorado found that Wally's blind spot is anything coming from his left.

Same key as the Dallas Series. Keep pounding them and get one of first 3 games. Starting with the 4th game they will get tired of taking hits.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Wild 2025-26 Season (5/4/2026 11:57:09 AM)

disagree a bit with that. "Pounding them".

They aren't Dallas. They are way to fast for that style. We need to muck up the neutral zone and get pucks deep on offense. Also, they are better 5 on 5 but we are "better" on ST's. At least on paper. It's the opposite of the Dallas series. If the ST's don't get their shit together, it's a gentlemen's sweep, at best.

As bad as it was the Wild scored 6 goals. I agree they can't play them as physical but Makar is so good.....you are going to have to attack him when he is playing the puck in his end.

Brodin and Ek I hope are back by game 3.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Wild 2025-26 Season (5/5/2026 9:42:16 AM)

Yeap, 6 was encouraging for sure. I also like how they fought back but giving up that many is scary. I wonder how our keepers will respond. Is it Gus tonight and, if so, how is he mentally? If it's Wally, does he correct his high glove mess so quickly?

stfrank -> RE: Wild 2025-26 Season (5/5/2026 10:24:56 AM)

To me it looked more like Wally was off his spot just enough to open up some high corners and they hit every damn one of them. They also hit a the spot between his pads and glove more than once. If he can clean that up and make some big saves early I think he will be right back to being the confident in control Wally we saw against Dallas. I think the bigger problem was our team defense just wasn't what it needs to be to keep up with the Avs. No more track meets please!

TJSweens -> RE: Wild 2025-26 Season (5/5/2026 10:49:01 AM)

Wally was off to be sure, but I have zero confidence in Gus. As has been said, Gus has been in a funk since he got yanked in the Olympics. I'd rather bank on Wally bouncing back from a bad night than Gus bouncing back from a bad month and a half.

Filip Gustavsson starting tonight for #mnwild. Gametime decisions on lineup

stfrank -> RE: Wild 2025-26 Season (5/5/2026 12:51:49 PM)

DENVER − The Wild’s playoff series against the Colorado Avalanche matches two high-scoring teams, but Game 1 was a little bit too high scoring.

And after losing 9-6 on Sunday, May 3, Wild coach John Hynes is changing his goalies. Filip Gustavsson will step in for rookie Jesper Wallstedt, who has played the first seven playoff games after Gustavsson got the majority of games in net during the regular season.

Game 2 starts tonight at 7 p.m. at Ball Arena. The game is televised on ESPN, and the radio call is on KFAN (100.3 FM).

Here we go. Time to hop on the Gus Bus and hope we see him at his best.....

TJSweens -> RE: Wild 2025-26 Season (5/5/2026 8:04:24 PM)

And Gus lets in an early softie.

TJSweens -> RE: Wild 2025-26 Season (5/5/2026 10:17:49 PM)

Good guys lose 5-2. Gus gave up 3 soft goals. Poor decision to play him.
