I agree with all the winners on the Harmon report for week 1 except:

Miami to upset the Jets - Ricky Williams will have a HUGE day, Pennington will be sharp, Coles is hurt and the game is in Miami.  I think Miami wins this one.

SF over Arizona - Frisco will play strong defense at home, Gore will have a nice day, and I think SF will get a TD out of Rossum on ST.

LA Raiders over Denver - Denver missing Marshall is a lot of their offense.  Raiders will run well at home on a soft Denver defense.  McFadden will be rookie of the week.

Minnesota over GB - I just get the feeling that AP will be the difference with a "WOW" play just like last years' opener against Atlanta.

ONE rule I would like to have for this thread:

You can only make fun of another posters predictions the week after, IF you predicted the same amount of upsets (or I guess just games would suffice, but upsets would be better) as that person did the week before.

But it is o.k. to rip someone BEFORE the games happen, but you MIGHT make yourself look foolish should the predictor be right.

I could see Houston upsetting the Steelers.

I could even see Dallas stubbing their toe on Cleveland.

Here's a prediction - Dallas won't make the playoffs. They're going to be stubbing their toe all year.

Wade Phillips is not a good coach.

The NFC East is a tossup.

The Eagles have no WRs

The Giants lost their DEs

The Cowboys have on guts

I disagree with Houston.  The Steelers D looks strong so they will control the ball.

I agree on Cleveland that they could upset.  The only problem is that Cleveland's defense is not that good so Dallas would have to completely unravel.

The Giants depend on their defense.  They are a major see what happens.  Everybody is expecting the Giants to roll right over Washington especially since they are playing at home.....but I think Washington over NYG is one of the most plausible upsets this weekend.  Although I didn't pick that way in either of my pick'em leagues.

Houston is my sleeper defense for this year.  They've got some serious young studs on that D!

The Giants are only a 4 point favorite at home, I see this one being picked as one of the more common home teams to lose, actually.

All I hope is that it's a good game. I like when the NFL season starts off right. Boring season openers suck.

I tried going to one of those pickem sites and couldn't get it working even though I had the username and password.

I think the SB champs tend to get favorable officiating in their 1st games, especially if it is nationally televised.  And because it is at home and Washington starters looked poor in the preseason, I'd go with the Giants.  Don't the Giants still have Tucker at DE, and they also got a good one recently from Philly. 

NOBODY has the Houston defense in my fantasy league, should I pick them up to backup the Vikings' defense ? Other than Mario Williams, I don't know much about them.  Is their 2ndary improving ?  Right now I have Detroit going by the improved 2ndary I thought might get some defensive scores from Dwight Smith and the rest of TB North.  

I think Dallas wins in Cleveland because the Cleveland 2ndary is going to struggle a while early on missing Bodden.  Dallas played well on the road last year, especially early in the year.

I can see a complete failure of a season in Cleveland this year.  Their D is very poor and I'm always leary of QB's that haven't done much who all of a sudden come up huge in their contract year.  I see them coming down from their high of last season and the NFL will kick itself for making them the darlings of prime time after one good year.

Lost amid the hoopla of his probowl selection is the fact that for the second half of the season his QBR was around 70.

I predict that, like last years' game in Minnesota, Woodson will get away with a noncall PI covering Wade, and that will be the difference in the game. 
   
GB will lead the league in PI calls against them this year, but will ALSO lead the league in NONCALL PIs.  Games are rarely won on an unfair PI call,  but they are many times won on a NONCALL PI.

GB caught a break getting this one at home on National TV, and then getting help from the refs at crunchtime, it's almost as if the game had a predetermined outcome.  This hurts the Vikings as perception is important, and it affects later in the year who the officials view your team.  I think if this game had been played in Minnesota, there would have been a VERY different outcome (unless the refs would have let GB again get away with NONCALL PI at crunchtime. 

The only positive for Minnesota was no injuries.

I predict that the Vikes will be fine and will still finish with 11 wins, winning the division in the process.

And I also predict that this week's game will be VERY close and AD will go nuts on the Colts.  The key will be the start.  If the Vikes come out of the gate well, they will win.

Up until last night's game, I thought the Vikes had a legit shot at going 11-5 this year.  However, after seeing how many faults this team currently has (no QB pressure, inability to generate turnovers, susceptible to big plays, poor special teams play, complete lack of originality in play-calling, WR's who can't get seperation, and a work-in-progress QB), I think that even reaching .500 will be a stretch.

I figured Rodgers would stumble, and the pack would be kicking themselves for letting Favre go.  But seeing him play last night, I'm now of the opinion that the bad guys in GB will likely win the division again.  (Cue evil deathstar music).  However, they won't be able to match last year's record (13-3) which included at least 2 complete gift wins.  A 10-6 or 11-5 record is more likely.

Chicago looked good against Indy, but they remain a team that much like the vikes needs to get solid defensive play and minimize mistakes on offense to win games.  They will likely end up around .500.

Detroit will...continue to be Detroit.  I thought they had a shot last year, but once again they proved unworthy of the task.  They'll likely end up in the 6-10 to 7-9 range at best.

I have no idea who will win most of the other divisions, but my current guess at a SB match-up is Pittsburgh vs. NYG

Trying to stay positive I'll remind people of the 2001 (or was it 2002) season when we started 0-2 and ended up in the NFC Championship game.  Sure, we lost 41-donut but we got there!

I think you are thinking of 1999 and our 1-3 start.  We got smoked by the Rams in the divisional playoff.
