If the Vikings earn a bye, they better keep a close eye on Shurmur between Jan 1st (day after regular season when many coaches may get axed) to Jan 7th (Assistant coaches under contract to playoff clubs that have byes in the Wild Card weekend may be interviewed for head coaching positions through the conclusion of the Wild Card games.)

On Moving the Chains today Pat Kirwin said he thinks 6 head coaches are going to be gone and someone he's close to who he said always has a good read on these things thinks 8 are gone. So one would think at least 5.

Shurmur still gone?

Anybody catch Norv on the program?

marty -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (1/2/2018 9:38:49 PM)

Can't wait to be told I was wrong on this prediction:

Carolina will take the NFC, and then will beat NE in the Super Bowl.

I would love to join in this dream of the Vikings winning it in their own stadium, just think it boils down to individuals, and I give the edge to Carolina. It was a shot in the arm when they beat NE earlier this season, and they still had enough to beat the Vikes. Next time Zimmer might scheme better to take away Newton's running, and then Cam will burn him through the air. I also think Peppers is vet that is at home and hungry for a ring, and will be hard to stop, scheming won't help, talent and desire wins out.

Ian Joseph -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (1/2/2018 10:22:32 PM)

Well, Carolina has to exercise the Saints demon before anything.

JT2 -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (1/2/2018 10:25:43 PM)

Here's my prediction, for the NFC: I seriously don't care who wins.

bgdavis -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (1/3/2018 8:19:19 AM)

Predictions for Wild card weekend:
NO over CAR (Tough to beat a team 3 times in a season, but NO owns CAR, and their dome field advantage will be in full effect)
ATL over LAR (Upset, but going with playoff experience here.)

JAX over BUF (As much as I'd love to see BUF win, JAX defense is just too good for a suspect BUF offense to overcome)
KC over TEN (TEN had one of the easiest schedules which helped bolster their record, yet they still barely made the playoffs. They're an anomaly in the playoffs with the 23rd ranked offense (23rd pass, 15th rush by yds/gm) and 19th by scoring, and a pass vulnerable defense (13th overall, 25th pass, 4th rush, 17th pts) KC's offense will light them up. KC's d is poor, but should be more than enough to contain TEN. Won't be surprised if KC wins this in a blowout.)

Ricky J -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (1/3/2018 8:57:25 AM)

Carolina
Atlanta
Buffalo
KC

bgdavis -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (1/6/2018 10:34:09 PM)

Got ATL win correct, but missed badly on the TEN win over KC. Nearly all the predictions I saw had KC winning, so I'm not alone there.

Randy Moss was the only media guy to pick Ten

He was also 15-2 in MNF picks.

bgdavis -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (1/7/2018 8:15:35 PM)

Today's games went they way I expected, though both were closer than I figured they'd be. I thought both JAX and NO would win their games by at least 10 points.

marty -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (1/7/2018 11:20:29 PM)

Happy to be wrong about Carolina already.

I think I run around being right about things in the Vikings thread to the tune of 60% (some people that rarely go out on a limb are very eager to point out the 40% with comments about David Boston, Bernardo Harris, Swope, etc... ), but I am not afraid to admit it is more like 40% correct when predicting games, which left me short a game on several teasers last year.

Because I run around 40% with games, I am afraid to pick the Vikes in the playoffs. If they are going to win the SB, I am thinking I need to pick them one of the next 3 games. I will make my pick before game time.

For now, I want to say that I expect the Vikes to beat the Saints, unless they trail by 10 or more at halftime.

CPAMAN -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (1/8/2018 8:34:25 AM)

Saints 20, Vikings 16

The defense plays well but the offense sputters and gives up too many possessions that the defense cannot overcome.

If the Vikings fall behind by more than a FG early in this game they will struggle. I do not foresee a NO blowout by any means.

Mark Anderson -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (1/8/2018 9:40:02 AM)

Vikes 31

Saints 23

Carolina had no weapons outside of McCaffrey and Olsen and still moved the ball at will against Saints. We just need to get TDs instead of FGs.

Phil Riewer -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (1/8/2018 9:49:23 AM)

Weakness of NO defense:

2nd WR, TE, and receiving RB......we have that

MN 34
Saints 17

Todd M -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (1/8/2018 10:34:22 AM)

Vikings 28 Saints 13

Championship Sunday:

NFC 2 vs 6

AFC 3 vs 5

Man would it ever be sweet to NE and Pitt eliminated!

I give Jax like a 10% chance of advancing and Tenn maybe a .01% chance.

Taking the long odds cause it would just be us the NFL world cared about and the refs would have easy sway assignments,

marty -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (1/12/2018 12:54:33 PM)

All week, until today, I was feeling a Vikings' win. I still feel the Vikes will win if down by 7 or less at halftime; I just now feel they will be down by 10 or more at half, probably down by 10, and then they will be in trouble.

Should the Vikes win the SB, I will have picked them 1 out of 3, as I should be able to get 33%, just not picking them this week.

I'm guessing this will be the 1st time they will have been down by 10 at home, all year. I think the Saints will hold onto 1 of Keenum's early floaters for a pick, and maybe even grab 2 picks early in the game.

Saints 30 Vikes 14.
