LT is breaking down

2 years in a row and he can't answer the bell cleanly for the postseason

332 carries and 65 receptions on average over his 8 year career.  No surprise.

Peterson is well on his way to his own early demise.

Did you say the same thing about Walter Payton?

Todd M -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (1/3/2009 10:36:10 PM)

Nice call Jim.

I even tempted you to back down and you didn't.

Guest -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (1/3/2009 10:39:32 PM)

I officially know nothing about NFL football.  Dirt pies for me again.

Guest -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (1/3/2009 10:43:06 PM)

Scifres was undoubtedly the difference in that game.  Wow! A punter?

Does anybody still have doubts about Sproles being a feature back somewhere next season?

That's why they play the games!

Let's keep the streak of home teams winning alive tomorrow.

He has the ability. I don't know if he can take the pounding. I'd love to swap Chester for him - he'd be perfect for our squad.

I actually think he doesn't get a pounding.  He's not like Barber, or even AD, he rarely takes a big shot.  I think SD keeps him even if they have to break the bank.

Good job, you're 2-0.  I'm 0-2 and thinking about changing to the Eagles so the Vikings win.

DrViking

why would the nfl want a 'sway' for minnesota, when they cant sell out their tickets for a home playoff game?

For the same reason they might 'sway' it for Arizona, BECAUSE they had trouble selling out their home playoff game.  Instead of the NFL watching interest wane in cities where the team is even good enough to make the playoffs, then having to move them and start all over in a new city in a few years (which could be especially bad if the economy continues to tank), it would be BETTER to have these teams be a little bit more competitive in the playoffs (having them ADVANCE at least one game) to RAISE the fan interest a little bit.

IOW, they should put the 'sway' in to help Zygi with his stadium drive.

For real

You and me both

One thing we did learn - Tomlinson has no heart.

Every year in the playoffs the team goes on without him.

I don't know why the network keeps cutting to a shot of him every 30 seconds - he is irrelevant!

It's one thing winning 2 yesterday, but I need to win them today since the only one that counts is playing today.

I can see Miami beating Balt only because of the rookie QB for the Ravens

That was SO annoying. Every time the Chargers did something on offense, they did a quick cut to Tomlinson on the sidelines. Who cares what his expression looks like now (it never changed). Show the players on the field!!!

Exactly

Tomlinson is to SD what Tiki Barber was to NYG - they are better without him because he is a distraction to the team concept.

I think the networks gear far too much of their coverage to stuff that is NOT on the field!  Instead of seeing players who are not playing show us the position of the safeties, if WRs are really open or not (and you have to do that with a split screen so we can see if the QB is in a position to make that throw) etc.

So.Mn.Fan -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (1/4/2009 12:48:40 PM)

I was totally non-committed yesterday to any of the 4 teams.
I just wanted to see good football.
That said, was anyone else shocked by the officiating?
To me, it looked like the refs WANTED Arizona and SD to win those games.
I usually just say "suck it up and play" when it comes to officiating, but EVERY good thing Indy and ATL did yesterday was called back or nullified.
I'm not looking for an argument, just an observation on how each person can look at results differently.
It's most interesting when you don't have a preference. Every 2 minutes I was saying ...
"Wow, I can't believe they called that on them"
Granted, some of the calls were the stupidity of Indy/ATL coming out, but many were ticky-tack that are usually let go.

LT is the new "Kurt Warner's wife"!

How about that I was a PERFECT 0-4.  A Vegas bettor could have made some money betting the opposite of what I thought.  [:D]

John Childress -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (1/4/2009 7:48:22 PM)

I ended 2-2

The Colts losing shocks me more than Arizona winning.  I really don't think the Chargers are a good team but they seem to relish playing Indy and the Colts really blew it on the 3rd down play.

Jim Frenette -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (1/5/2009 10:22:39 AM)

The one I lost happened to be the most important game to me[X(]

I was 2-2 with a different 2 than you. Arizona over Atlanta was easily the most predictable game for me. Warner Fitz/bold against their Secondary combined with the Matt Ryan rookie wall. I was actually surprized that the Chargers didn't destroy the Colts. I felt all week they would be better off with Sporals over LT. I think I was right on that, I just didn't expect their offense to leave 24 points on the field. Norv Turner is the Wade Phillips of Head Coaches.

Going into Sunday I felt like Nostradamus Cady.......

When we were down 14-16 at halftime, I really thought we were on the verge of imposing our will on Philly. It was like the Vikings were give sedatives at halftime.

Ed Reed kicked the crap out of the Dolphins by himself. The Raven offense scored, but Flacco contributed about as much as Big Ben in his Super Bowl win. Although I liked his run up the middle for a touch. He is a great kid, but he wins because of that defense and oline and running game.

Sunday night I felt like.....the magician from Frosty the Snowman.

Easy E -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (1/5/2009 12:21:15 PM)

First playoff game of his career, he didn't turn the ball over and he ran in a score.

And he gets to play in another game. He's good enough for me.

BINGO

If Jackson doesn't turn the ball over and if he also adds a rushing TD we win also.

Flacco, as a rookie, is light years better than our 3rd year guy

Toby Stumbo -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (1/5/2009 12:41:11 PM)

I still wouldn't trade JA for him.

John Childress -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (1/5/2009 12:46:19 PM)

I would because I am QB STARVED!
