This is not over. And everyone should watch it on TruTV Syracuse homer coverage. It' HILARIOUS.

twinsfan -> RE: 2016 March Madness (4/2/2016 9:28:29 PM)

The play-by-play guy will either have a heart attack or a technical foul, or both, by the end of this game.

twinsfan -> RE: 2016 March Madness (4/2/2016 9:29:40 PM)

NO CLASS at all from this announcer. Making fun of UNC fans.

Okie found out today why I was speechless the first time I saw Nova.
Men.
Once I saw them I didn't believe anyone would beat them.

Beating OK by 44 is freaking insane. I can't imagine UNC can beat Nova. We probably have the two best teams in the final.

Corleone -> RE: 2016 March Madness (4/4/2016 9:57:35 PM)

Fun game.

kgdabom -> RE: 2016 March Madness (4/4/2016 10:45:09 PM)

UNC made a game of it. Nova was without doubt the best team in the country this year.

Steve Lentz -> RE: 2016 March Madness (4/4/2016 10:55:09 PM)

The Big East is getting back to what they used to be. What a game!

JT2 -> RE: 2016 March Madness (4/4/2016 11:11:27 PM)

I'm biased, but what a beautiful sport.

A whole bunch of Cats (pun intended) that will never play professional basketball, come together as a team and experience something they will never forget. Not just the trophy, the process.

Great Nova team. Great for Jay Wright. He certainly paid his dues. He's been a great coach for a minute, now he will get the love he deserved for a long time.

No Calipari, no Self, no Krzyzewski, no Pitino. Yet somehow we all survive. This was beautiful tonight. College basketball, and sport, at it's best.

Full disclosure, I had NC winning the championship in every bracket I played.

I bet a couple of the Cats play Pro ball...the Freshman Guard and maybe Jenkins....they beat a pretty stacked UNC team.

My mistake, I should have said "NBA" ball.

That said, are there a couple of Nova players on this team that you would bet on playing in the NBA?

Great post, Pete.

In spite of our repeated local failures, tonight reminded me (once again) the reasons I love sports and have continued to follow even absent of having a true rooting interest most of the time. The unscripted theatre and the back stories of athletes overcoming and persevering...you just can't beat it.

Congrats to the Cats. Have a buddy from the Philly area who's still hyperventilating into a paper bag...but fun to see. 31 years is a long time to wait, as we know too well around these parts.

Thank you, and right back at ya, especially on the above first two sentences.

Great stuff you two.
I thought Nova would win easily.
Was a great game, with a once in a lifetime finish.
So fun to see programs outside of everyone's Big Ones .... Win one once in awhile.

Fun finish. We were just stunned with both hoops in that last bit. Some clutch performances.

It's why the tournament is and will always be better than the pro's, because of the kids involved and the 1-done.

I was heartbroken by UNCs three.
Started my usual bitching about how the rich get richer.
And a minute later, I'm euphoric over a selfless team refusing to lose.
Archi the senior could have easily said "I'm gonna be a hero here" but instead set up a better shot for a teammate.

kgdabom -> RE: 2016 March Madness (4/5/2016 11:10:57 AM)

The game tying shot was absolutely sick. UNC made an amazing comeback, but in the end the better team won.

RIP Pearl Washington

Former Syracuse basketball star Dwayne “Pearl” Washington has died of brain cancer, his family confirmed to Cuse.com on Wednesday.

Washington underwent surgery on the brain tumor in August. Washington originally discovered and treated the tumor in 1995, but last year he suffered a relapse of the cancer.

Washington played for Syracuse from 1983 to 1986, leaving after his junior season when he was chosen by the Nets with the No. 13 pick in the 1986 NBA draft. He played two years in New Jersey and one in Miami before announcing his retirement in 1989, saying he had lost his desire for the game after three professional seasons.

During his time at Syracuse, Washington averaged 15.7 points and 6.7 assists per game, and was chosen as a consensus All-American after the 1984–85 season. With Washington on the team, Syracuse went to the NCAA tournament three times and posted a 71–24 record.

Syracuse men’s basketball players honored Washington this season by wearing warmup shirts with “Pearl” and his number 31 written on them.

#21 Iowa State and #11 Gonzaga in a barnburner on ESPN. Bonus, Dickie V is doing the game.

twinsfan -> RE: 2016 March Madness (11/27/2016 2:24:31 PM)

Great game. Zags win. Iowa State's last-second shot was late (and no good).

Wow. Dickie V was old when I was in HS.

I was gonna say ....... thanks for the warning Matty
Dickies got to be at "Sid pace" by this time.
Never a fan.

twinsfan -> RE: 2016 March Madness (11/27/2016 7:11:51 PM)

My 2nd favorite college hoops team Cal is taking on SE Louisiana on Pac 12 Network. Doesn't look like it will be much of a challenge. Cal leads 9-1 in the early going.

twinsfan -> RE: 2016 March Madness (11/27/2016 7:24:57 PM)

Anyone remember that time I called a win by an unranked Cal team over previously undefeated Arizona? That was mint.
