If you have to add fruit to the beer to make it taste better, it's not a good beer.  You should try another beer.

There is something about Mexican beer that its a lot better with lime. It was served that way in Mexico. So when in Mexico, do what the Mexicans do. Drink beer not water.

Corona is basically devoid of flavor. So some acid from the lime, and especially salt, hit your taste buds pretty hard when you add them, especially if it's ice cold.

What would be the point of drinking beer that is devoid of flavor?

Corona is like making love in a canoe...it's ****ing close to water.

The South of the Border Coors.

The water in Mexico will kill you. The beer water is treated like American water is treated.

Everyone go out for dinner? Anyone cook or have a meal cooked for them?

I made chipotle mango chicken with corn on the cob soaked in chile coconut milk overnight then baked in it, with maple chile sweet potatoe.

Crack pie for desert.

No pics this time.

That pie looks pretty darn good. You're making that for the next Viking fan get-together, right?

Where's La' Chicken Strips

Todd M -> RE: Vikes Water Cooler Thread (2/14/2014 10:59:23 PM)

The only thing I would be all over there is the oysters.

One way or the other it looks like it would cost me a lot to leave there hungry. What did you go with?

All of it. That was the dinner menu. It was fantastic.

I wondered but I was afraid to ask. I thought there was a chance you only had that to pick from.

My initial reaction was they could serve me all that and I'd pick at it wishing I had much more of a few things and none of some things.

Ian Joseph -> RE: Vikes Water Cooler Thread (2/14/2014 11:21:41 PM)

Is it like a sample menu, where they bring you portions of everything?

David Levine -> RE: Vikes Water Cooler Thread (2/14/2014 11:27:08 PM)

It's just a different type of dining experience. Robuchon is one of the top chefs...ever, so it's amazing to be able to try so many things - and in the way he wants you to eat them.

And they're all such powerful dishes, that any more than a few bites of each may be too much of a good thing.

Basically. A bunch of small and very fancy plates. Like this:

Todd M -> RE: Vikes Water Cooler Thread (2/14/2014 11:31:53 PM)

Interesting.

I feel that way with deserts. I'm still vibrating from the crack pie.

But I think I could choose one awesome thing and go to town on it.

Not sure that thing is on that list though. I'd certainly be game for tring something like that though.

David Levine -> RE: Vikes Water Cooler Thread (2/14/2014 11:36:10 PM)

Yeah. You don't eat like this often - it's incredible, but almost exhausting too. It's a fun change of pace. Almost like tapas on steroids.

How many hundred is this meal?

David Levine -> RE: Vikes Water Cooler Thread (2/15/2014 12:49:16 AM)

It's not that bad. 165 per person plus drinks. 4 something when all was said and done.

Ian Joseph -> RE: Vikes Water Cooler Thread (2/15/2014 1:32:24 AM)

I've done worse for lesser meals.

I'll look into it.

thebigo -> RE: Vikes Water Cooler Thread (2/15/2014 1:57:42 AM)

When I start spending that kind of money on food, shoot me.

I get close every trip to Cosco, of course the food lasts months. hehe

That's one of the things I like about tapas or dim sum restaurants. You can try a couple of everything and not feel like a pig. The progressive bill can be hard to keep up with, though.

Is this from the Las Vegas Restaurant? I believe there are eight around the world. My wife and I were planning on eating there this spring in Vegas.

David Levine -> RE: Vikes Water Cooler Thread (2/15/2014 10:07:13 AM)

Yup. At the MGM.
