We refer to ourselves as recovering alcoholics. We are fully recovered when we're dead :)

Ricky J -> RE: Vikes water cooler thread (11/6/2016 7:39:47 PM)

I'm thinking on going up to the Dallas game. Tickets are out of my price range on Stub Hub, et. al.

If you have a couple extra and are in the neighborhood of face value let me know

Tim Cady -> RE: Vikes water cooler thread (11/7/2016 10:49:58 AM)

Thanks for sharing guys! You have always been an inspiration to me. Some solid spiritual health going on in here.

Somewhat fittingly 'the streak' is over at 12 days, Thanks America. [&:]

Ha! I just got an email saying I got drawn for me and a guest to carry the 'defend the north' shields out during the player introductions. SWEET!

Todd M -> RE: Vikes water cooler thread (12/14/2016 10:51:20 AM)

I have little experience with milestones and anniversaries.

The only thing that should be a forever thing that I've had any success with is quitting smoking and I made it a year once. Always back to it though. Even smoking now.

For those doing a forever thing; I.E., never drinking or doing drugs again...do you find that the milestone strengthens your resolve? Does it hold a lot of meaning? Or are you not supposed to give it too much weight - just keep battling?

---

Waiting for the next phase of my 'recovery'. My quarterly A1c test. Keep refreshing the page saying; it's been (x) hours!!!

My lifestyle change...you could argue that it should be a forever thing. But like I've discussed...I eat bad things still. Sometimes I binge. I was going to skip this quarterly test because I was worried about the poor choices I've made since after the game in Minnesota. I've been WAY looser with my diet. Weight is still the same though and I've been getting incredible fasting numbers so I said F it...just get your numbers and own them regardless of what they are. I have a number in mind and I want it bad. But not bad enough to say no to some of the treats I've had...We'll see...

Partly why I never try hard drugs...they would give me such trouble...and I'd never be able to say 'never again' so no matter how hard I tried I'd get weak and go back.

Keep being strong my friends!

Todd M -> RE: Vikes water cooler thread (12/14/2016 5:15:11 PM)

Mixed feelings.

My A1c is unchanged since the 6 month mark...we're at the 10 month mark now...

5.6.

I was diagnosed at 9.4. Got it down to 5.9 at the 3 month mark. 5.6 at the 6 month mark.

Been off meds for the last 4 months but have indulged a heck of a lot more.

I should probably be happy...

Looser guidelines say <5.7 is "normal", tighter ones say <5.4 is "normal".

Sounds like you are right on the edge of abnormal

But we already knew that about you...

Anyone know of a good site to order viking T-shirts with player name and number on the back?

And yes I am behind on my Xmas shopping

Ricky J -> RE: Vikes water cooler thread (12/23/2016 9:35:34 AM)

Ok, I know it's just a coincidence and I'm going to have a great day but don't you hate it when you fill up your tank and then comes the "7 cents off a gallon of gas at Kwik Star" text?

Tim Cady -> RE: Vikes water cooler thread (1/5/2017 4:11:58 PM)

Was at a little meeting yesterday and they gave me a 7 year medallion. Only took me about 29 years to get it![;)] So, I want people to know that miracles do happen. And for that I am grateful.

Daniel Lee Young -> RE: Vikes water cooler thread (1/5/2017 4:23:57 PM)

i have been catching up on the locked vikings thread and game day threads from my trip into the bermuda triangle...

God Walsh was horrific... not sorry to see him gone.. the missed field goals was barely tolerable but his missing of extra points and chip shot field goals was INEXCUSABLE>>>

Dude was paid more money than most real workers will ever see in two lifetimes of 30 years working , he was paid to kick a fn football reasonably straight thru some goal posts... and he SUCKED AT IT..

No tears from me.

Nice work. Are there so many of us in recovery on this board because of shared pathology between addiction and Viking Fandom, or do many need drugs and alcohol to cope with Viking Fandom?

Was pondering that very same thing.

Seems like a high %.
