ORIGINAL: Jeff Jesser Not to be an ass but who really cares? Are we that important (not you Todd, this isn't a direct question/example) that we need this kind of pampering? When i'm out to dinner with friends/family the last thing i'm thinking is "man, this dirty plate is pissing me off". I'm there to have fun. Life is stressful enough, who needs to live like that? I have family and friends that are that anal about the supposed old English customs of dining out ect.....They normally ruin it for the rest of us some how. The conversation going home is never "what a great time". It's almost always "can you believe that bitch x/y/z, what was that about". It's more about should the waitress and other diners have given a hard time about it. If someone cares, then the answer is that you should wait a normal amount of time to allow the waitress to clear plates from your own table. Like you say, kick back and enjoy the company, and a good waitress will come by and clear them quickly. If she sucks, though, after a while the dirty plates become an annoyance, and at that point, I'm all for dirtying up otherwise clean tables and creating an eyesore.
