I got the DVR set! Strange scheduling for the game, but I'm looking forward to finally getting the Hawks season rolling.

joejitsu -> RE: General NHL Talk (10/4/2019 8:20:59 PM)

I just watched the game. We won't finish the season undefeated. The defense is still very suspect, in my opinion. Keith has caught whatever disease that makes Seabrook slow and bad on his skates. And Crow gave up a really soft goal. The cat played well, though. Probably celebrating his new three year paper.

joejitsu -> RE: General NHL Talk (10/10/2019 5:39:53 PM)

First game at home tonight! Let's go, Hawks! I hope there is some improved play on defense, or it will be a loooonnng season.

joejitsu -> RE: General NHL Talk (10/11/2019 5:37:46 PM)

I thought that game was in the bag for us, but the sharks pulled it out. 0-2, and we still look weak on defense.

joejitsu -> RE: General NHL Talk (10/14/2019 6:34:55 PM)

It's not time to push the panic button, but the Hawks are starting to look old along the blue line. And the oilers look interested in playing hockey this year. We need a win!

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL Talk (10/15/2019 7:43:22 AM)

Huge win joe!
Over the reincarnated Oilers even!
Congrats.
Us two cellar-dwellers both won. [:D]

It's good to get that first win in the book. I was kind of surprised at the amount of offensive pressure the Hawks put on the oilers. The oilers have some serious speed on their team, though! It's fun to have Hockey, back, ain't it, SoMn?

Shhh, don't tell the Wild fans … but yep, love it. [&:]

Interesting to watch this play out
In hockey, rarely do the teams that start hot stay hot
And vice versa
Oilers have been smoking
Last year I remember Buffalo being incredible early.
They finished pathetically
Many others I can recall that way.
As has been mentioned ad nauseum … the Blues were the worst team by far much of October and November, and … well, we know the rest of that story.

Ah, so the Wild are on a cleverly disguised championship path.

Laughed at that one myself, after writing it
Should have included … except for this situation here
We started badly ….. because we're bad [:D]

I've watched Jake Guentzel play about 100 NHL games
He's scored in every damn one. Sometimes twice. Sometimes three times.

The guy is phreaking amazing.
And we can never find anyone like this.

Watching Seabrook chase hayes down the ice a couple of games ago was a sad thing. He doesn't have the legs anymore. A big road trip starts tonight. I hope a win streak comes with it.

joejitsu -> RE: General NHL Talk (10/29/2019 8:37:00 AM)

Tarasenko is out for five months with a shoulder issue. That's a big hit for the blues.

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL Talk (10/29/2019 8:42:24 AM)

HUGE news
Tarasenko carries them, talent-wise.
Underrated what he does for them.
Its that whole "scorer" thing, one that truly IS.

Every time you hear contracts like that, don't ya just shudder a little? I do. [:D]

Landeskog and Rantanen both injured in Colorado
Caps have won 6 of their last 7

Seabrook was a healthy scratch and Crawford is obviously being replaced in the net. Embarrassing loss at nashville. Fans here are complaining.

Right? Both of our teams are sitting pretty with 8 points. Watch out, Hockey World!

A Las Vegas casino is suing Evander Kane, claiming the San Jose Sharks forward failed to pay back $500,000 in gambling markers given to him in April.
According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas filed the lawsuit against Kane on Monday, saying he took out eight separate credits that totaled $500,000 in mid-April.
Markers are special credits that allow gamblers, if qualified, to more easily receive access to large amounts of money on the spot.
Kane and the Sharks were in Las Vegas when he allegedly used the markers, as San Jose played the Golden Knights in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Kane, 28, is in the second year of a seven-year, $49 million deal he inked with the Sharks. The NHL team did not immediately respond to the Review-Journal's request for comment.

Kind of expected this to be a weekly thing once pro teams started playing all these games in Sin City.
