Oh, wait...2-1 now.

stfrank -> RE: General NHL Talk (8/13/2020 5:48:50 PM)

Well Joe, at least you didn't have to stay up all night to watch them mail it in like we did. [:D]

Ha! That's the beauty of early games. Team chokes, you still have some time to decompress.

joejitsu -> RE: General NHL Talk (8/13/2020 7:00:55 PM)

3-3. Kane and Toews are on the ice together, but they are not pressing enough. Crawford and a weak defense is not going to win this game.

joejitsu -> RE: General NHL Talk (8/13/2020 7:38:45 PM)

Poop. We are down 2-0. I think the Hawks are out of the bubble in a couple of days.

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL Talk (8/17/2020 8:50:51 AM)

Staved off elimination

Crazy Canucks are battling hard vs the Blues
Some strange results
Islanders just rolling
Some teams handling the new normal well, some not

The Isles are a nasty team to play right now.

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL Talk (8/17/2020 10:32:48 AM)

I pined for local boy Anders Lee when he was available
Right now he's in beast mode for the Isles
But we probably didn't need tough, big, forwards who can beat you in every way.

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL Talk (8/17/2020 11:28:41 AM)

Want to know what a good coach looks like?

Berube sat Tarasenko, Steen, and Binnington last night in the Blues win.
That's balls the size of coconuts.
And it paid off

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL Talk (8/18/2020 10:14:20 AM)

Dammit, the Canes had em by the balls and let em go
Bruins are irritating as hell
And good as hell too [X(]
I don't know what others are seeing, but I'm amazed by the level of play
Seems even a touch nastier
I suppose getting let out of the gate has loosened some of these guys up
These games are fast and hard

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL Talk (8/18/2020 10:19:46 AM)

Zero positive tests inside the bubble so far
I wouldn't mess it up, but BETTMANN [X(] always does

Two weeks into the Stanley Cup playoffs, the NHL is still finalizing plans that would allow family members to join players in the bubble for the conference finals.
Deputy commissioner Bill Daly said final plans are "still up in the air" but that the league and the NHL Players' Association have worked out protocols.
To join players in their hotel rooms for the conference finals in the hub city of Edmonton, spouses or partners and children will need to self-isolate -- staying at home as much as possible and avoiding unnecessary interactions with non-family members -- for seven days before departure and produce three negative COVID-19 tests over the seven-day period, 48 hours apart.

Family members would have to quarantine in their hotel room (not in a room with the player) upon arrival for four days until four negative tests have been confirmed. Once the quarantine is over, they can be in the same hotel room as the player.
While in the bubble, family members would be subject to daily COVID-19 testing.
The NHLPA is gathering information from teams on how many players would be interested in bringing families in should they make it to the conference finals.
For the first three rounds, teams were allowed 52-person traveling parties in Toronto and Edmonton that did not include family members. The NHL and NHLPA conditionally agreed that players' families could join the bubble by the conference finals; by that point, the number of people in the bubble will have dwindled, and the NHL will be operating only out of Edmonton.
Integrating new people into the bubble was never going to be an easy task, and the NHL is trying to mitigate risk as much as possible. As commissioner Gary Bettman said July 24, ahead of the tournament, "It's something that the health authorities in Alberta, among others, will have to bless."
The league has reported zero positive confirmed COVID-19 tests through its first three weeks operating in two bubbles.

Well, that was bad. But, the young players have some experience and there is still a good group of vets to work with.

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL Talk (8/19/2020 11:52:02 AM)

Yep, you're in a good place joe

No surprise

You have ownership and management that gets how to build a champion

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL Talk (8/20/2020 10:22:42 AM)

WOW
Huge Canuck win last night

They're better than we thought they were, when they ousted us
Giving the mighty Blues fits

joejitsu -> RE: General NHL Talk (8/20/2020 9:36:39 PM)

Can we have Leddy back?

Can we have Leddy back?

We get first dibs since we gave him to your team for bag of pucks in the first place!
Those Minnesota boys and the Islanders sure took it to the Caps didn't they? I think I found my team for this playoffs.

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL Talk (8/21/2020 8:47:41 AM)

Helluva player
Hasn't always shown it … but … helluva player
Good on him

The MN connection has paid off big time for the Islanders org

Anders Lee is a beast

I'm a serial Avs hater
But I did enjoy this

Vancouver Canucks agitator Antoine Roussel tried to get under the Vegas Golden Knights' skin in Game 1 of their series. Instead, the Knights said Roussel helped fuel their 5-0 blowout win on Sunday in Edmonton, Alberta.
"He's running around out there. I don't think he's distracting anyone but himself," forward Reilly Smith said with a chuckle. "I don't think he changed the game at all tonight [for Vancouver]. If that's the way he wants to play the remainder of the series, then I think he just hurts his own team."
Roussel, who had 43 penalty minutes in 41 games in the regular season, began the night by having words with Vegas goalie Robin Lehner during the pregame skate. He tried to get physical with Knights players, with seven hits in the game, tied for most on the team.
His agitation didn't get Vegas players off their games.
"I don't think anyone was bothered about it," forward Jonathan Marchessault said. "That's why we pay Reavo the big bucks. He's going to take care of it, and we'll just do our own thing."
"Reavo" is Vegas enforcer Ryan Reaves, who noticed Roussel's interaction with Lehner during warm-ups and was the Canucks forward's tormentor throughout the night. Reaves delivered a few hits on Roussel. He taunted him by clucking like a chicken from the Vegas bench. He goaded Roussel into taking a 10-minute misconduct in the third period, when Roussel hugged Reaves around the neck to chirp at him. Reaves gave Roussel a thumbs-up and laughed at him while he was in the penalty box.
"That's part of our game plan is to get a piece of people when we're out there. We have a few guys that enjoy that part of it," Vegas coach Pete DeBoer said.
As for Lehner, who made 26 saves in the shutout win, he said Roussel deserved some credit for the victory.
"He got a couple of extra [save] percentages out of me today," Lehner said. "I hope he keeps going. He's just poking the bear."
Game 2 between Vegas and Vancouver is scheduled for Tuesday in Edmonton.

Not a big Dallas fan, but damn, its fun to watch them frustrate the Avs

and ... I would be a shitty GM
#1 ... biggest Joe Pavelski fan around right here, but
#2 ... I wouldn't have given you a bucket of pucks for him this past off season, he felt DONE
#3 ... Corey Perry was in the same boat with me. Well,
#4 ... they are kicking ass and taking names. Would be taking any team they joined, to the promised land, the way they are playing. Its amazing to watch.

That and the fact that this is their last kick at the can.

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL Talk (8/26/2020 7:14:34 AM)

Upside down world continues

Isles kicking ass
Canucks rebounded nicely

I love seeing these powerhouses get frustrated.
The Avs and the Knights thought they'd roll thru this
Nope.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: General NHL Talk (8/26/2020 12:06:30 PM)

In fairness they aren't playing the Wild so....

joejitsu -> RE: General NHL Talk (8/26/2020 1:45:24 PM)

The Bruins-Tampa series looks like it's going to be a good one. Those teams know how to press! I think the outfit with the least amount of trips to the penalty box will win the series.

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL Talk (8/26/2020 1:51:34 PM)

Loved that game yesterday Joe
Just feels like Boston has too much for the Ning, unfortunately
